QB Aaron Rodgers, PIT (8 Viewers)

Wouldn't that increase Loves value?
The love owner I’ve been in talks with is negotiating as though he’s the locked in starter, so no - it would just give me more confidence to pay locked in starter assets.
I'll bet dollar to donuts the price goes up if Rodgers is traded.
I mean, he literally told me last week, in these exact words, “I consider him the starting QB for the packers in 2023, so I’d hope to get…” and we talked trade value from there.

Considering his demands, it can’t get higher. lol

Pro Football Network's Trey Wingo reports Aaron Rodgers being traded to the Jets "is done."

Wingo has been dialed in on the Rodgers situation in New York since the offseason got underway. Though nothing is official, we'll bet on Wingo having the scoop once again. Barring a last-second change of heart, Rodgers will be a Jet soon, possibly even by the end of the day. With a return to Green Bay unlikely and the Raiders signing Jimmy Garoppolo earlier today, Rodgers landing in New York was all but inevitable. Coming off a down year in 2022, it's certainly a risk to bring Rodgers on this late in his career. However, the alternative would be to stick with Zach Wilson. Given Wilson's struggles, New York had to make a move, and now they'll be a strong contender to dethrone the Chiefs in the AFC.

So they can't get the Rodgers deal done by the end of the day, meanwhile like 10 guys have signed big deals and weren't even allowed to talk until a few hours ago.

Meanwhile Shefter is saying the Jets are optimistic but nothing is done yet and Rapaport says he has nothing to report yet.

Are we sure he's not already a New York Jet?
I've been getting phone texts with a lot of screenshots that look pretty official.
Any chance Rodgers does a right turn and doesn't sign with the Jets?

Maybe I have missed it, but the Packers have not taken nearly enough flak for how they have handled this situation over the past few seasons. Drafting Love was stupid at the time and given the relevant context, but it was much worse that they gave Rodgers the contract they did last offseason. WTF were they thinking?

is interesting when you think about it, last year they really wanted to have Rodgers back, enough to pay him up the wazoo, and now presumably Love is ready to take over and they don't want Rodgers anymore. guess they're tired of him and ready to move on but things would've been much easier if they had figured that out last year.

Taken in isolation, neither was necessarily horrible. AR was just coming of back to back MVP seasons and they didn’t think love was looking great.
Apparently love is looking better.

Anyone else thinking the jets are going to implode next year or in 24?

"Packers (for now) quarterback Aaron Rodgers is indeed moving toward accepting a trade that would send him out the land of the Cheesehead and into the Big Apple....It hit our radar screen because Rodgers is involved in trying to persuade one or more free agents to join the Jets."

I love how he ended it. Shows good self awareness and good nature.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Aaron Rodgers "has not informed either team of where he wants to go."

Rapoport is referring to the Packers and Jets, who seem to be the only two teams in the Rodgers sweepstakes at this point. Rapoport correctly pointed out that, despite Rodgers saying otherwise, his indecision is holding up the line for free agents signing with whatever team he ultimately chooses to play for. Until his future team knows they have him on the roster for sure, they can't commit much money to other players. Rapoport also noted that a deal between the Jets and Packers has yet to be worked out. That directly contradicts what Pro Football Network's Trey Wingo reported earlier today in addition to previous reports that carried a similar sentiment. The Jets are still heavy favorites to land the three-time MVP, but Rodgers appears determined to drag the circus out as long as possible.

Both teams are on the same side of the “Rodgers Sweepstakes” 😀.

What language is that?

I'm anguish in fact --
tangle with a Star-spangled standard issue gat for crowd management
Talk loud and get enshrouded in a hot cloud of harassment
By the proud force of my mental pedestrian checker
That smashes subordinate skulls and update the file in your dental records

Sooooooô, wouldn't it be easier to actually become a Jet and THEN have them sing some of your guys? I can see the Jets signing Cobb and Lazard only to have Rodgers either stay in GB or retire

Ignoring the drama, why would the Jets want to give up compensation and a huge salary for a one year rental on a player with declining skills , a poor off season attitude and a reluctance to embrace team work or mentorship.

Jets arent winning the SB this year with or without this guy, they are just kicking the can down the road on a QB for another 12 months.

At this point it’s obviously a done deal - he’s “making” them add his guys. Not sure why he wants his new team to tie up cap space on bums when the WRs they have are better but we all knew he was a self-centered douche.

That would have been the case with any of the QBs they could have signed, Carr, Jimmy G or one of the “bums”. Rodgers gives them the best chance to get to the AFC Championship game in the next two years.

Carr is 32 and average - most average QBs are done by 35.
Jimmy G will be 32 never finished a season even when younger.
They rest of the free agent QBs are journeymen types.

In any scenario the Jets are most likely looking for a new QB during the 2025 off season - may as well swing for the fences while they have so much talent on rookie deals.

Came here to point out that bringing on Lazard and especially Cobb seems very counter productive with the WR room that already exists in NY.

Getting Rodgers is obviously the right move for the Jets and this is the part you have to suffer to do so. Can’t think of a player that has moved further on my like to loathe scale during their career. What a tool bag.

Not to mention JD still has delusions that being around Arod will make Z Wilson somehow not stink and become a good QB....ridiculous as that is

It all depends on the cost. Rodgers makes then instantaneously much better. The defense is there and the other offensive pieces put them squarely in the playoff mix. There is no reason the Jets couldn't make a playoff run.

With ARod and seven playoff spots- the Jets are legit. Certainly not the favorites but in the conversation.

Is the cost a first? Two seconds?- To me that will tell the story.
