Man, I saw it happening during the Jets game and I thought about it and decided to keep it on tap, but this is ridiculous. The good people of P'burgh are investing their football year and their time in an organization that paid an old, hired gun of a QB imposter to get them to 9-8 (maybe) record with what seems like a soft schedule by passing the football like it was a baton in a 4x400. Oof. I think Tomlin sees another year in Pittsburgh as something to sink his leaden chops into and cause some sort of weird groundswell because there's nothing airborne about this tragedy of a movement. AI told me that the Steelers' aDOT on the year—that's the average depth of target, which is how far the ball travels in the air when the QB passes it to a teammate—is 5.24. That's minuscule. Pro Football Reference tells a much worse story. It says that Pittsburgh's Intended Air Yards Per Attempt is 4.9 yards. That's stunningly low. The average is 7.2 yards. The Ravens, those seekers of danger, are first with a 9.6 IAY/A. But the story can be told by how far P'burgh is from the next-to-last team. The 31st team is Arizona. Their AIY/A is 5.8. yards. That's quite a bit for the team right in front of you. Then the Jets are 30th at 6.3 yards, nearly a full yard and a half deeper. Yikes.
Dear God, who signed up for this and what are is everybody hoping to accomplish? If I can figure this out during (you can see my aDOT comments in the Jets thread as early as that day or the next day), why are there DCs who haven't figured this out yet? What is the use of having DK Metcalf, anyway? Did they ship Pickens out because they knew? I mean, I'm only half-kidding about that. Might as well line up a couple backs behind Rodgers and run the wishbone while they're at it!

I wonder if you have watched any Steelers games this season?
The issue isn’t the quarterback, it’s the lack of running game and abysmal pass protection.
If your backs are getting hit behind the LOS and you’re forced into obvious passing downs and the line can only give 1-2 seconds of protection you’re not going to be able to throw deep.

Steelers really need to get AR a decent #2 WR. They have DK who is a decent #1 WR and no one else behind, just a lot of TEs. This is ok when Pitt has a lead and wants to grind out clock but in a shootout or a trailing situation, they need more firepower. Hard to go toe-to-toe with another decent QB who has Chase and Higgins to throw to when you have DK and a bunch of middling TEs.

Last few weeks, at least. DK gets hurt they're probably cooked, tho.
Shaheed could bring an additional interesting element. Good guy for returns too, which they're also kind of lacking.

As a lifelong Packer fan and also a Rodgers fan it's great to see him looking like he's still got it and with all the fire he's always had. I suspected he'd succeed in Pittsburgh, but i think he looks better than i anticipated.
I'm really excited for the week 8 game with the Packers and we should get the best of both squads. Gotta root for an implosion from him in that one, but if not Green Bay winning a super bowl this year I'd love to see the old guy make a run at it.

Yeah, he's that type that is going to find that chip on his shoulder and extra motivation wherever he can get it. With Daniels hurt I'm putting in a bid for Rodgers this week hoping to catch that revenge game lightning in a bottle.
