QB Baker Mayfield, TB (6 Viewers)

Baker is the league MVP through the first 2 weeks. Crazy TB fell backwards into a franchise QB immediately after Brady.
During the 2021 season I kept saying to my wife the only bad thing here is Brady is 45 and it’ll never get better than this for us. This is the peak and it won’t last long. She would tell me to stop and just enjoy it. And who knows, maybe (probably) it was the peak but they moved on so successfully that it’s kind of startling to me.

We’ve started 2-0 4 years in a row. Last couple we’ve laid an egg after that start. I’m hoping Baker doesn’t let that happen again.

This year feels a little different though, right?

Being completely counted out after Tom makes it sweeter that the wins continue. I’m more invested than prior years.

The injuries are concerning.

Hope the focus is there.

I’ll be there this Sunday.

And also the performance on the field! 3 more TDs. Should have had 4.

Probably goes over 400+ passing too if not for 5 drops.
What is the real Tampa offense right now? Weeks 1 and 4 or Weeks 2 and 3? I guess 2 wasn’t so bad but 3 was just a mauling lol
That Denver defense seems pretty legit. Lions are as well.

I liked seeing the short/quick game yesterday. Nice adjustment by Coen to eliminate some of the deficiencies on the line and slow down the pressure Baker has been facing. Sacked 12 times in weeks 2-3.

Also loosened them up and once the Bucs got ahead the Eagles were roasting. That's when the Tampa heat actually matters, but you have to get the lead and sustain offense. They didn't do it against Denver.

They haven’t had their right tackle since week 1 so I think they’ve done really well working around that

Kind of worried about Goedeke at this point. Hope he's ok long term just for his own well being. I want him back as a player, but hope he's healthy first and foremost.

Ali Marpet went through a situation like this where he missed multiple games due to a concussion. He retired at 29 after only playing one more year.

Are we finally ready to acknowledge Baker Mayfield is actually a good QB.

The last 5 years of his career he’s 31-30, with 91 TD’s and 30 INT’s, including 2 playoff wins.

Baker has always been good, he was just drafted to an organization that was dysfunctional at the time.

Average salary of 33M the next 3 years. Guys like Dak and Lawrence are making 40-50% more. Bucs need to make some hay these next few years with that contract on the books.
And only $50M guaranteed. Dak got 5 times that. :lmao:

I expect he’ll be extended beyond those 3 years as soon as this off-season. The guy is awesome.

I'm all over mayfield.

I really, truly hope he ends up on my Browns. He'll turn this franchise around.

Tears in my eyes, man... 7yrs ago. SEVEN.

And looking back, he did more than anyone logically could've expected in our funhouse clubs of errors. He did turn things around, I believe that. As much as any rookie QB could.

even if it's for another team, my heart always belongs to Baker <3

He was QB3 coming into this game and is currently the QB1 for the week...

Thinking of shipping off Stroud to a QB needy team and riding Baker ROS
The Bucs are tied for first in total points through 3 games, averaging 29.7 ppg. The Tom Brady led 2021 team, and best Bucs’ offense I’ve ever seen, averaged 30.1.

Baker Mayfield finished 11 of 12 for 114 yards (+17.4% CPOE) in the fourth quarter and overtime in the @Buccaneers' comeback win over the Panthers after starting 10 of 21 for 121 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs (-17.6% CPOE) through the first three quarters.

Since coming to Tampa last season, Baker Mayfield leads all NFL quarterbacks with 56 touchdown passes, one ahead of Jared Goff. Also third in INTs with 23, behind only Patrick Mahomes (25) and tied with Josh Allen (23). Wild to think those 2 could have the most INTs over 2 years.

Baker Mayfield between the numbers, beyond the LOS in Week 15

11-13, 166 yards

Outside of the INT, an absolute clinic throwing with anticipation, reading zone windows, playing on time, navigating the pocket.

Might need to do another video...👀

Baker has figured out the NFL game. Some talented QBs never do.

Reminds me a little of Kurt Warner the way he can read defenses and gets the ball in the right spots, and has a great arm.

Plus being undersized he is gritty.

He has all the tools. If the consistency week to week improves he'll start getting talked about with the big boys. The dude rips the ball.

Next Gen Stats
Baker Mayfield completed all 12 of his pass attempts against the blitz for 90 yards and 5 TDs (+27.4% CPOE) in the Buccaneers’ win over the Panthers.

Mayfield’s 5 TDs against the blitz are the most in a game by a QB since Patrick Mahomes in Week 1, 2022.
