QB Baker Mayfield, TB (5 Viewers)

Assuming another full season I think you can put a 10% bump in his numbers. Closer to 4,500 yards. 30+ TDs. Expecting the running game to be significantly better too.

People sleeping on this Bucs team, but that's how we like it.

Interested to know why u think 10% bump. That's a large bump. Same coaching staff. Drafted 1st round and offensive lineman. 3rd round wr. Those draft additions a factor or is it simply Baker another year in the system type bump?

The OC, Liam Coen, is new. Offensive bumps have followed him everywhere he has gone. But, yes, Baker being fully comfortable with everyone. Being "the guy" instead of in a competition like he was last year. Also fully believe the running game will be better (can't be worse) and should help them sustain more drives.

Great info man.

I am surprised the community is so low on Baker. He has always had the talent, but his situations were not ideal fits. He seems to have hit his stride in Tampa and the team has plenty of weapons.

He's still in his prime with some stability ahead. Its interesting to see him drafted a lower end QB2 in Dynasty when he puts up fringe QB1 numbers. If he hits that 10% bump mark, thats a top 10 finish and I think its realistic.

For me, it's because sometimes I have an inability to move on from things that cause me immense pain. I'm working on it. When Browns added OBJ years ago, I was all in on Baker. All in. I can never forget how he made me feel. Ha ha. Would I be okay with him as my QB2 and spot start him with good matchups when my QB1 is on bye? Yes, but that's all my heart will allow.

That stink from 2021 when he was hurt after that great 2020 season has stuck with him. He should have just sat out, but that's not who he is. Also, I don't know how any QB could have survived in that environment and consistently played well. What an S-show Cleveland is/was. I'm not going to go through it all, but the only thing consistent about Cleveland while Baker was there was the inconsistency. He still fought through it to have a couple solid seasons and won a playoff game for a team that hadn't accomplished that in ages and still hasn't since he's been gone.

Now in a stable environment we've seen what he can do. I still think there's more. Love this guy.

No idea what an extension would cost, but a franchise tag would currently be about 30M.
Cheap for an above average starter. More likely Mayfield will continue to be an average to below average starter and not someone teams will want to commit to long term as their starter. He's just good enough to get you beat in the playoffs if the roster around him is great.

But, maybe he's Drew Brees? I'd want to wait a season or two to find out though.
Quoting myself from two years ago and I’m here for the Drew Brees like resurgence in Tampa!

Let’s effing Bake!!!

In my superflex league, Baker helped lead me to a record-setting championship last year as he finished QB #8 in my league.

This year, I selected Baker again as my QB1 in Round 11. ECR was WAY off on Baker.

Seeing what Baker did late last season, and in the playoffs... he was a no brainer. I got many many Baker shares in both redraft and best ball.

Let's GO!!!

What is his value now in start 1 QB dynasty ?
I just got an offer for him of a 2025 3rd.
I only have him for one more year.
My other QBs are Stroud and Rodgers.
In the 2nd of a rebuild and probably a .500 team, but in big need of RBs and WRs.

I acquired him in a few leagues. It's the same situation Brady had a few years ago.

People forget this guy went 1.01. You have to be talented to get drafted that high. Turns out he may have actually been injured that down year in Cleveland.

It's like, everybody else gets a pass for being injured except him. Think about the chip on his shoulder? From almost out of the league to throwing 4TD on opening day.

Haters gonna hate, keep it up, Baker.

It always helps to go to an above average organization (which TB is) and also let’s not forget…the better weather? Lol

And now Baker has 3 WR’s to throw to, White to check down to, a reliable TE in Otton, IDK, he should be a solid fantasy QB this year. I do think the turnovers will come and go

Trade Stroud and go with Baker? He's only 29. Stroud is going to carry a lot more value. Probably first round pick value. No? A 3rd round pick in dynasty for Baker is nothing.

But, ultimately, I'd bank on their statistics being eerily similar the next 3-5 years.

I lose Baker after this year in dynasty. Stroud has two year contract now, but I can extend it to 5 next year. It would take the #1 pick next year for me to give up Stroud.

I had him in over Kyler Murray, but then I waffled on it. I think it's close though but I'd like to see a little more from Baker first.

Redskins aren't great after all. You're supposed to do stuff like this. The Lions will be tougher for sure.

Baker was pretty stout last year, his competent play is not brand new.

Does he live at the stadium?
lol, didn't you watch the commercial? wait, wrong stadium...

looking past two years ago and beyond, when i thought he was a not good qb but funny in his commercials, he and the buccs were good to great last year. played every game and only 10 ints. technically a one score loss to detroit in the playoffs (8 pts) and they destroyed the Eagles. gawd i hated watching that game.

i drafted baker this year to be backup to Kyler, but at this point i'm flipping that script. at least until i realize baker is still baker. in the mean time, Baker's stats in that playoff game at Detroit in January: 26/41 349 3 TDs and 2 INTs. those are easily QB1 numbers.

I have been starting him in one dynasty league since late last year and trying to acquire in others. A year ago I thought he was a terrible QB and just a flyer on my squad but I was wrong, getting away from Cleveland does wonders for peoples development!

Setup for a really nice schedule out the gate too.

Through their first 95 career games Drew Brees and Baker Mayfield's statistics are eerily similar.

Baker:

Yards - 21,959
TDs - 145
INTs - 78
Rating - 89.4

Drew:

Yards - 22,248
TDs - 142
INTs - 85
Rating - 88.5

edit: Now, here's the rub. Does Baker ascend the way Drew did once he got comfortable in New Orleans? After arriving there in 2006 Drew didn't have another season under 4,300 yards until 2018. An incredible 12 year run that also included 4 years over 5,000 yards and 9 years over 30 TDs.
