Yeah, I think that makes sense. Despite being very different QBs, Hoyer and Bortles are actually comparable right now. Both are mediocre QBs with decent weapons (or in Hoyer's case, weapon) who have been putting up decent numbers all year, mostly based on volume, but in neither case would you be shocked if they came crashing down to earth.

If I were you, I'd roll with both and keep playing match-ups until we have a little more clarity as to which one (if either) is actually good.

Put in a claim for Hoyer, dropping Tyrod. I have the 12th priority (based on standings) but with all the RB handcuffs & season saviors people will be snapping up this week, probably get him.

 
When he's played a full game he's been a decent fantasy QB. Might start him over Brady this week based on their matchups.

 
Have him in over Romo right now but may change my mind depending on how many drinks I have from now until kick off. I was forced to start Hoyer due to bye when he got concussed and did nothing, and this is his first game back. Players that got there noggin knocked around make me nervous when they first return.

Historically, yes. But he's had back to back weeks of 300+, 2 TDs and 0 INT. Juicy matchup.

I rode Josh McCown for a 4-5 game stretch back in 2013 and it was glorious. I got no shame. Points is points.

Also, how amazing is it that even this guy has his own thread. :lol:

Thinking about benching Cousins at baltimore for Hoyer vs Indy as a QB2.

 
Hoyer stinks.  No way he keeps the job.  One decent game against an awful defense.  It's all just chatter. 

 
He's put up decent stats whenever he starts, even back to his Cleveland days. Not studly obviously.

Granted these past couple games are probably the best 3 game streak of his career, he was a serviceable starter / streamer last season after he took over for Mallet.

Hoyer has been a good fantasy qb. I'll give you that. Funny to me that he has an 11 page thread, too. lol

 
In a move that should surprise no one, Hoyer to the Colts. 3 years for $12 million with $9 million of it guaranteed.

I’d say Brisett now has zero room for error.   And Chad Kelly still remains a possibility for the future.   Could be even better for Kelly to sit behind a role model like Hoyer.

I'm a Swag believer. If they keep Kelly after his suspension, it tells me the Colts want to have a reliable vet in house so they have flexibility in 2020. Brissett will be a FA and he'll either fall on his face this year and be gone, or do really well and want a huge payday. If the Colts feel comfortable with Hoyer/Kelly they can let him walk in either case. If they don't and Brissett has a great year they can pay him the big bucks to be their franchise QB.

They can’t tank. They have a great o-line, very good skill players, a decent game manager at QB and a young improving defense. They win at least six games just on that and if Brissett has improved at all they could be in the mix for the playoffs.

Well on the face of it seems a negative for both. Wanted to take Kelly in 2 qb dynasty league but now prob will only do so as very late pick

Brian Hoyer completed 17-of-26 passes for 168 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Colts' 26-24, Week 9 loss to the Steelers.

Hoyer came in for Jacoby Brissett (knee) shortly into the second quarter and immediately found Jack Doyle for an 11-yard score. The Colts’ backup QB tossed an ill-advised interception to Minkah Fitzpatrick that was taken all the way back to the house before later finding both Zach Pascal and Chester Rogers for additional scores. Hoyer made some solid throws throughout the afternoon when given a clean pocket, but demonstrated some troubling awareness on his way to taking four sacks and losing a fumble. He’ll be a thin fantasy option in Week 10 if Brissett is sidelined, even in an amazing spot against the Dolphins.

Brian Hoyer completed 18-of-39 passes for 204 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in the Colts’ 16-12, Week 10 loss to the Dolphins.

The Colts had zero points at halftime and largely failed to move the ball throughout the afternoon. Hoyer’s first interception was ripped out of Eric Ebron’s hands in the end zone, but the second was a bad overthrow, while the third occurred with fewer than six minutes remaining and also wasn’t even close to the intended target. Hoyer badly missed Chester Rogers on what could've been a game-winning touchdown from the 16-yard line with less than a minute remaining. The Colts didn’t exactly set Hoyer up for much success with consistently covered receivers, but the 34-year-old QB didn’t help matters by regularly holding onto the ball too long and failing to make consistently accurate passes. Hoyer will be back on the bench in Week 11 against the Jaguars if Jacoby Brissett (knee) can get healthier.

Patriots signed QB Brian Hoyer to a one-year, $2 million contract.

Hoyer spent 2019 in Indianapolis, backing up Jacoby Brissett. He started one game for the Colts and completed 35-of-65 passes on the season. Hoyer threw four touchdowns and four interceptions. This signing marks his third stint with the Patriots. Hoyer knows the system in New England and provides some baseline stability at quarterback as they search for Tom Brady's replacement. Hoyer will be 35 years old in the fall.

Brian Hoyer's agent claims his client will be given a chance to earn the Patriots' starting job.

Hoyer's 2020 salary — only $1 million from the Patriots and $2 million in possible incentives — begs to differ. Hoyer will get another $1 million from the Colts. If Hoyer starts, it would be with tanking in mind. We highly doubt that will end up Bill Belichick's approach. The Pats still have many avenues to upgrade their quarterback room, and they should be fully expected to do so.

I might have to start him in a superflex where I ended up very weak at QB off the back of our startup draft a couple of months ago, and  also due to an insane amount of injuries/Covid related problems meaning many of the players I’d start in the flex spot above him are unavailable. 
 

Big Ben, Fitz, Stidham and Hoyer are my only rostered QBs ! 😩😩

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Patriots QB Brian Hoyer is expected to start in Week 4 against the Chiefs.

Cam Newton (COIVDID-19) will be absent from the Patriots matchup versus the Chiefs and likely their Week 5 outing against the Broncos as well. Hoyer will get the starting nod on Monday night and should start versus the Broncos if he doesn't get decimated by the Chiefs. The Kansas City defense has stifled Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson this year so Hoyer could be in for a rough Week 4. If Bill Belichick doesn't like what he sees from Hoyer, Jarrett Stidham could start in Week 5. Neither project as viable fantasy options in single-QB leagues. Julian Edelman's volume should insulate him from the downgrade in quarterback play. The same can't be said for N'Keal Harry, who is a fringe flex consideration with Newton out.

Brian Hoyer completed 15-of-24 passes for 130 yards and one interception before being benched in the final quarter against Kansas City.

Go figure. Much like his spot-start in place of Jacoby Brissett last year, Hoyer was again atrocious, sailing his receivers and taking two sacks as an immobile pocket sloth. Hoyer completed a 25-yard shot to Damiere Byrd in the second quarter but mistakenly thought the team had a timeout left in taking a sack right before the half and failing to get another three points on the board. In short, it would be shocking to see Hoyer make another start for the Patriots at any point in his career.

Patriots released QB Brian Hoyer. 

Hoyer has spent five seasons with New England in three stints with the team. Thirty-six in October, Hoyer was forced to make a start last season when Cam Newton was sidelined. He 15-of-24 for 130 scoreless yards and an interception in a Patriots loss. Surely another team is in the market for a seasoned backup or third-stringer for 2021. Meanwhile, Jakobi Meyers is the default backup quarterback for Mac Jones with Jarrett Stidham (back) sidelined.
