QB Brock Purdy, SF (4 Viewers)

I believe fantasy players have a mental block when it comes to Purdy. They see him as a system QB and a good QB2 for their team. I don't think the fantasy community is comfortable with him as their QB1 and that may never change. I think he could change that line of thinking in 2025.

He’s going to finish as a top-12 fantasy QB again. I still think he’ll be criminally under appreciated again. I don’t know what more people need to see to believe, but it’s tough to shake that Mr. Irrelevant title for some.

I'm a firm believer in the Konami code at QB strategy, and I'm not sure what to make of Purdy's rushing. Last year, he more than doubled his rushing output from the previous year which is great, but not sure if that was a product of CMC being out or not. Probably a little.

He is my QB1 in one dynasty league, and I'm very comfortable with that. I agree with your take here.

In mocks where I wait forever on QB I've been getting a lot of Purdy in rounds 9+ (single QB). Seems like a steal, but QB seems oddly deep this year overall.

No one ends up posting the actual contact numbers. Cap numbers by year:

2025: 9 mil
2026: 24.8 mill
2027: 30.8 mill

At this point, the deal is a bargain. The next year is interesting.
2028: 57.6 mill, with 38.6 mill in dead cap. So depending on how Purdy is doing, this could be a time to get out, or even one more year of a bargain. 2028?!? There will probably be $90 million dollar cap hits in 2028. That might be an absolute steal of a cap number in 2028

It's three years, and then we'll see.

You know what it is in cap dollars, roughly? Three years, Lil over $100 mill in cap dollars. Including all dead cap, Good deal for SF, I think

Like most things nowadays, the headlines don't match the substance. Cash paid, this deal will be 2 yrs/$88M or 3/115, and then there are team and player options for continuing with bigger numbers or renegotiating or exiting. Either way, it's a good and fair deal for both sides.

I know hes a little light on weapons but im really high on Purdy if I miss on the top few QBs.
I don’t know. CMC, Kittle, Pearsall, him and Jennings had a nice chemistry last year. And Aiyuk will be back eventually. I feel like his weapons are solid, assuming CMC and Kittle stay healthy.

Similar to last year's Dak projection for the FBG leagues, I liked him as a late round QB. Have to imagine Shanny's been cooking up something fun. Big rebound for SF this year's O. The draft was all D for SF so they're rebuilding that side of the ball. I like them to round into form on D later in the year but I have them with the foot on the gas early this year no Offense.

Having a hard time getting excited about his targets at this point. Deebo gone, Jennings with a “calf” injury and wanting new contract, Aiyuk probably not useful until later in the season. I like Purdy as a QB, just do not see the upside this year.

I mean last year he had Aiyuk for all of seven weeks(and he wasn’t really playing well outside of one week) no CMC, and Deebo was ineffective and in and out of the game as usual and he still finished as a QB1. Oh, and basically no Pearsall either.

I admittedly overlooked that if that was the case, I will have to give a closer look.

The team is pretty panicked about its short term WR situation right now. If the season started tomorrow they'd be starting Pearsall and Robbie Chosen or Russell Gage. CMC and Kittle are obviously elite weapons, and Pearsall has had a great camp, but a good offense will need more production out of their wideouts than I think they can count on at the moment.

I was thrilled to make him my QB2 (paired with Baker) in a dynasty start-up a few weeks ago.

He’ll be getting Aiyuk back, he’s got Kittle, and after week 3 he’ll have DRob as well. Long-term I could see the 49ers going WR in the draft or signing a FA as it’s an obvious position of need.

I know you said if the season started tomorrow, but have you seen anything that indicates Jennings is in danger of missing Week 1?

On local radio yesterday they mapped this out.

This gist was if he’s not practicing Monday, 8/25, he has basically no chance of suiting up.

That was their take anyway.

Wonder how much of his calf injury is actually legitimate, or him just wanting a new contract?

Most local reporters believe it’s contract-related, but no one will go out on that limb without cautious language because it would probably piss off Jennings & be a bad look if he really was hurt.

So nothing concrete but largely believed to be a non-contract injury (as opposed to a contact injury)
;)

Really coming around as him being a premier mid round late round qb. His running upside is also underrated. Just a playmaker!
He's just good at football and has good people around him. That's a deadly combo. I was on the Lance side of things a few years ago and have pivoted hard to Purdy. Weirdly, he's still underrated.

I’ve never in my life seen a team so consistently snakebitten with injuries.

It really doesn't make sense, every year, always this team. I mean, it's to the point where it can't be random chance. Are they practicing too hard/not conditioning enough? Is there something within the facility, the turf, the trainers, the medical team? Is there a team philosophy of "always go your hardest" even if that means running full speed into a brick wall at the expense of your own health that is common among the players or preached among the coaching staff or ownership, or is that something they intentionally draft and pick players for?

There must be something other than "bad luck" that explains how this keeps happening to this one team.

From @GMFB: #Commanders QB Jayden Daniels (wrist) is off the injury report, while #49ers QB Brock Purdy is out 2-5 weeks with a turf toe variant, sources say.

With this timeline for #49ers QB Brock Purdy, he's likely to miss games against the #Saints and #AZCardinals, at least. Then, his availability will be determined by how his rehab goes.

Honestly he seemed already injured in this past game. I know he doesn't have the strongest arm to begin with, but he was throwing some real bad floaters. That one he had Ricky open in the front of the endzone running towards the pilon I've seen him make throws like that multiple times before, and he hung it out so long it got batted away, honestly lucky it wasn't picked off. Even if he was starting this week, I'd be benching him in leagues I have another option. He could not drive the ball at all IMO. Probably better for fantasy owners to not even have the temptation to start him, and also give him time to hopefully heal. If it is turf toe and that's what's not allowing him to properly step into throws.. he might be very disappointing this year for those who drafted him at ADP.
