Caleb Williams' 3.0 net yards per attempt is the worst for any quarterback in Weeks 1 and 2 in the last 10 years.
No qb would make hay behind that line. He has no time at all on virtually all plays.Austin Gayle

Is this what makes him a generational talent?
Justin Fields 2.0?Bryce Young 2.0
That’s an insult to 2-0, undefeated in 2024 Justin Fields, who is a much better talent.Justin Fields 2.0?Bryce Young 2.0
That's a pretty extreme take, to be honest. While the stats are what they are, Caleb has shown some solid flashes in both games. As for Waldron, every offensive scheme looks great with an all-world Oline and it takes special, experienced talent to overcome poor Oline play. Caleb himself will have every chance over the next 3 years to start producing and anyone who expected him to come in and produce right away was fooling themselves. The Bears need to address the Oline early and often in both the draft and free agency. No more of this dime store OL pickups should be tolerated from Poles. I'm on record as a fan of his, but poor OL play has been a constant for the past 3 years and needs to be fixed ASAP.You can see the special abilities when you watch him play. He can absolutely spin it.
It looks like this team has no offensive identity and a terrible scheme. And a terrible offensive line.
Also, Caleb‘s body language is already trash. Slumping and throwing his hands up when things don’t go well isn’t gonna work in the NFL.
I don’t know why they kept this head coach when they had the number one draft pick and drafted such a talented but somewhat controversial kid. They need to go find an offensive guru somebody out of the Shanahan tree or something who can come in and really build a system around him.
I think by the end of the year if things don’t get better, Caleb is going to be toxic in Chicago and the narrative is going to be “he bust” and “Chicago is just a trash organization“
Seems like you agree with me? I pointed out that the Oline is terrible. That's a pretty extreme take, to be honest. While the stats are what they are, Caleb has shown some solid flashes in both games. Same. I dunno about this staff. Then again, I dunno about most staffs. Most of the time offensive head coaches are best for young quarterbacks. I’m not convinced Eberflus is the guy to mold/build this team. Could be wrong.
No offense taken. Eberflus deserves the criticism he's gotten over the years. And yes, a top offensive mind at HC would be great to have. Totally agree on that.Seems like you agree with me? Maybe you take offense to my feelings on the head coach, but he was on the hot seat the last couple years that’s not really a hot take.
Most of the time offensive head coaches are best for young quarterbacks. I’m not convinced Eberflus is the guy to mold/build this team. Could be wrong.
Waldron just has a lot of the signs I hate to see most in coaches. The kind of guy who has a way of doing things, a system, can't adjust. The kind of guy who plays "his guys" because he trusts them and lacks vision. As for Waldron, every offensive scheme looks great with an all-world Oline and it takes special, experienced talent to overcome poor Oline play
Swift is not a great player. Outside of a two-game hot start he couldn't produce behind one of the best offensive lines in the league last year. He averaged 4 yd per carry and under 6 yd per reception on one of the best offenses in the league.Welcome to the NFL!
I've never been a believer in Williams. I think he's too cocky.
That said, I grabbed Swift and Moore in a league because they are great players. The Bears offense is dog water right now.
I agree with pretty much this entire post. I just also found it funny that I read the bolded part and also immediately thought of Kyle ShanahanWaldron just has a lot of the signs I hate to see most in coaches. A few examples:
Gets JSN in SEA, proceeds to run a heavy two TE offense. Staying with Everett and playing "your guys", he's got some odd Gerald Everett fascination. He made Kmet a bit player in week one and I truly think only adjusted week two due to all the criticism.
Travis Homer. Another "my guy". He did not bring Homer over directly but they were together in Seattle. No idea why he keeps getting the second most snaps among the RB position. Is his pass blocking that great? Don't think he has any plan with how to use Swift. He's best as a space back, but he comes off the field on a lot of obvious passing downs meanwhile he tries to run keep running him into the teeth of the defense where Swift is kind of terrible. Whole idea of Swift was to supposed to be giving Caleb an easy answer in the passing game.
It's obviously not all on him, just not the guy I'd be have trusted to develop Caleb.
I got nothing overly negative on Eberflus. He's got the defense playing strong and they amazingly had a chance to win that game despite being soundly outplayed.
A lot of QB's are struggling right now. Really think the focus on Caleb needs to be working on a lot of easier shorter throws. Getting guys like Moore and Swift the ball in space, cutting down on the sacks and negative plays. Incorporate a lot of rollouts and get Caleb moving with a heavy dose of easier throws to give him a base and build up his confidence. This just looks like Waldron is running the Seattle offense he was running the last few years.
(who's obviously had a ton of success)Ok, so he's got potential to be a really good player. I don't think he's going to reach any kind of potential he has with Caleb running the offense. Moore, on the other hand, is a great player who's been hamstrung by bad offenses. Looks like more of the same.Swift is not a great player. Outside of a two-game hot start he couldn't produce couldn't produce behind one of the best offensive lines in the league last year. He didn't break 100 yd rushing in any of his last 13 games and only twice. Did you manage 100 yd from scrimmage.
Swift's reputation is far more myth than reality.
Yea, seems like a bad sitch for Caleb. Got weapons, but no line. He's gonna run around, take big hits, and chuck it inaccurately down field.I have no dog in this fight, but I can't imagine any QB doing well in that offense right now considering how awful the offensive line was the first two weeks. For as much as love as Poles got for fleecing the Panthers and upgrading the skill position players, his failure to fix the offensive line might torpedo any chance the offense has this year.
Might not make it to the halfway point if these jail break hits keep coming. Further, the Bears cannot get the running game going to take pressure off CW.Yea, seems like a bad sitch for Caleb. He’s come a long way from demanding what team he played for as a prospect entering the draft, demanding an ownership stake in the bears, and demanding before he signed his rookie deal that the bears rescind their right to franchise tag him when the deal ends.Already looking like he's got that 1000 yard stare
Swift couldn't get it done with Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown and a top three O-line.Ok, so he's got potential to be a really good player. Point taken. I thought Swift lost a lot of rushing oops with Hurts, especially goal line stuff. I figured they'd rely on Swift in chi Town. Bad line, Caleb looks overwhelmed......they're trying to say he's humble and learning and all that garbage .....not buying itSwift couldn't get it done with Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown and a top three O-line.Ok, so he's got potential to be a really good player. He never demanded what team to play for or asked for an ownership stake in the Bears. He’s come a long way from demanding what team he played for as a prospect entering the draft, demanding an ownership stake in the bears, and demanding before he signed his rookie deal that the bears rescind their right to franchise tag him when the deal ends.Already looking like he's got that 1000 yard stare
That all looks really silly now.
What are you buying then?.they're trying to say he's humble and learning and all that garbage .....not buying it
Man, I hope not. That was the biggest gripe I had with Getsy. Dude was so stuck on "his system" in his own mind that he couldn't adapt to the talent he had around him. To hire someone in a similar vein would be a big red flag in my eyes for both Poles and Eberflus. I really hope we can get past this trend of cleaning house in the front office and coaching staff with a highly drafted QB going into his 2nd year. It's gotta be incredibly detrimental to their development.Waldron just has a lot of the signs I hate to see most in coaches. The kind of guy who has a way of doing things, a system, can't adjust. Felt like less than a second from snap to sack. Seemed like that a bunch of times last night. That last sack he took from the blind side and didn’t even see it coming was NASTY. Surprised he got up…
Didn't they have Mahomes sit for a year because they had Alex Smith at the time? Don't honestly remember all the details at the time.Patrick Mahomes was so bad as a rookie they wouldn't even let him play.

Saw 36 pressures on 37 drop backs. Is that accurate?
It was after their week 11 game against Buffalo they collapsed. Swift started 10 of those games, he looked like a world beater in the first two averaging 152 yards and almost 7 yards per carry. In the following eight games before the Eagles collapse he averaged 4 per carry and 6.5 yards per reception. He collapsed long before the Eagles.Swift couldn't get it done with Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown and a top three O-line.Ok, so he's got potential to be a really good player. If Swift has potential, what does Caleb Williams have?
I mean there’s certainly a question of if Swift is any good now that he’s on his 3rd team and one with a much worse offensive line but you are talking about a vaunted Philly offense that after their BYE completely fell apart last year resulting in the OC getting fired. They barely averaged 200 yards passing a game and lost 6 out of their last 9 games the 2nd half of the season last year including the playoff game. Swift averaged 4.5ypc during that period but only 13 carries a game.
Yup, he's a chucker.Agree. If Smith hadn't blown out his knee, Mahomes would be be playing in the CFL by now.Couldn't beat out Alex Smith. Just imagine what someone with this mindset is going to be like for an organization the moment they become a tiny bit unhappy. Lots of red flags. If he resembles anything close to returning on his #1 draft capital, Caleb will probably make the current Ja’Marr Chase situation look small in comparison. Beware college players who sit out their bowl games in college to preserve their draft stock. I didn't really follow this at the time but looking back at it, it looks like it was really all blown way out of proportion.
For instance I tried searching on the ownership stake thing and it was all just reddit posts, tweets, youtube videos from random people, not real sources.
Had to scroll way down to find a real news source, of which it appears the origin of the story was an NBC Sports story saying that players SHOULD have the option to get equity in teams (which is actually illegal according to the league currently) that mentioned both Aaron Rodgers and "Caleb Williams' camp" had "discussed it" with teams.
When people started running with it NBC Sports posted a follow up article saying that their original article had been extrapolated, and that Caleb Williams' "camp" was mostly actually Caleb's dad mentioning it among other things that might maximize a first contract, and that when they interviewed Caleb himself about it he had no idea that it was even something anyone had mentioned to the teams.
But of course by that point people had taken off with it and the story developed its own narrative.
Similar to the picking his team thing. Best I can find of that is an interview where they ask him which teams he would want to play for most where he lists several, and then finishes the statement with "but I'll play for anyone".
What are the red flags, exactly?Lots of red flags.
The list of players sitting out is only going to get longer. It's not to preserve draft stock it's to make sure they even get the opportunity to play in the NFL. I'd bet Jaylon Smith would do it differently if he could.Beware college players who sit out their bowl games in college to preserve their draft stock
What problem are we talking about after two games?Bears recruited their own problems here.
He is a rookie in a struggling offense with a weak O line. I don’t know if he will ever be great but it is too early to determine that he is a bust like Bryce Young.I have no dog in this fight, but I can't imagine any QB doing well in that offense right now considering how awful the offensive line was the first two weeks. For as much as love as Poles got for fleecing the Panthers and upgrading the skill position players, his failure to fix the offensive line might torpedo any chance the offense has this year.
All that garbage was debunked in this thread already. I doubt if it will be a problem though, because I see a Bryce Young arc playing out in real time. This guy isn’t a top tier talent.
Beware college players who sit out their bowl games in college to preserve their draft stock. Bears recruited their own problems here.
IDK seems pretty clear the Fantasy Football Gods made him pay this season!Beware college players who sit out their bowl games in college to preserve their draft stock. Bears recruited their own problems here.
Wasn't this trend started by Christian McCaffrey? Like he didn't even do it after it had already become normalized, he was the one that started it? Seems like he worked out pretty okay.
David Carr 2.0 seems far more reasonable.Justin Fields 2.0?Bryce Young 2.0
