Sleeper alert. Jones will undergo surgery on his Achilles.
What’s the book on recovery from this…? 100% by training camp?
I play tennis and by no means am an expert on this stuff but we had one of our regulars "rupture" the achilles which is sometimes worse than just tearing it, mostly in terms of healing and recovery. From what I recall, it took a good 6 months before he could even step on a tennis court and probably another 6 months before he was able to get thru a match without discussing it as a limitation to his overall game. I believe the achilles is somewhere in the 6-12 month range if there are no set backs, it's a terrible injury when NBA stars get them, usually is about a year and eats up a good chunk of 2 seasons when there is overlap.
This happened Week 14, I wouldn't expect Jones to be fully ready to go Week 1 next year
I will say this for those that may not be aware....Jones is a very gifted athlete even if he's not the most accurate QB or hits all the boxes on our checklist, he's an athlete and I expect him to make a faster recovery than I would if he were not so athletic.
I also believe DJ lost about $100,000,000.00/$100M in guaranteed money this off season.
I don't know where he stands for roster spot in 2026, I thought he was on a 1 year deal in Indy but maybe i have that wrong
Speedy recovery for a guy that made the Colts a lot of fun to watch the first half of 2025
