QB Daniel Jones, IND (2 Viewers)

Not having a credible backup QB has really hurt the team. They went all in with the trade for Sauce and now don’t have much draft capital to draft or trade for a stopgap option.

Sleeper alert. Jones will undergo surgery on his Achilles.

What’s the book on recovery from this…? 100% by training camp?
I play tennis and by no means am an expert on this stuff but we had one of our regulars "rupture" the achilles which is sometimes worse than just tearing it, mostly in terms of healing and recovery. From what I recall, it took a good 6 months before he could even step on a tennis court and probably another 6 months before he was able to get thru a match without discussing it as a limitation to his overall game. I believe the achilles is somewhere in the 6-12 month range if there are no set backs, it's a terrible injury when NBA stars get them, usually is about a year and eats up a good chunk of 2 seasons when there is overlap.

This happened Week 14, I wouldn't expect Jones to be fully ready to go Week 1 next year
I will say this for those that may not be aware....Jones is a very gifted athlete even if he's not the most accurate QB or hits all the boxes on our checklist, he's an athlete and I expect him to make a faster recovery than I would if he were not so athletic.

I also believe DJ lost about $100,000,000.00/$100M in guaranteed money this off season.
I don't know where he stands for roster spot in 2026, I thought he was on a 1 year deal in Indy but maybe i have that wrong

Speedy recovery for a guy that made the Colts a lot of fun to watch the first half of 2025
Yeah, Jones is on a 1 year $14M contract. Now, who knows if any teams even sign him in the off-season knowing he wouldn’t even be ready to start really practicing until next September and likely wouldn’t be truly healthy until 2027.

He just likely went from a very nice contract to maybe never getting another offer like that again.

well Richardson was the guy. the initial injury report said he may return later this year. Not sure if thats still realistic but if hes due to return, perhaps they rush him back a week or two early.

isn't the trade window closed?
it is. all they can do is sign someone who is a UFA or convince someone to come out of retirement

Is Kaepernick still "in great shape waiting for a team to call"? :lmao:
he might be better than whats available

I’m available to play QB for the Colts but I’d injure myself just running on to the field at the beginning of the game.
And you would still be more of a threat running the ball than Rivers.

As long as I get paid I’ll be happy. Plus I might reach out to AJ Brown to learn more about how to cryptically complain about the offense. I’m in the process of acquiring an X account now expressly for this purpose! I’m sure I can find a way to make this all JT’s fault!
