QB Deshaun Watson, CLE (3 Viewers)

49'ers were never in it.

In the last hour Wilson has posted this on twitter regarding the Eagles:

Aaron Wilson

@AaronWilson_NFL

Other than the Eagles, whose GM Howie Roseman, contacted Rusty Hardin last yr and sent investigator to Houston before moving on when it became known that Watson wasn’t inclined to waive his no-trade clause, no NFL teams has conducted as much due diligence as Carolina

And this from an article he posted:

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman previously conducted significant due diligence on Watson before last season.

The Eagles even sent an investigator to Houston to look into the legal situation and contacted Rusty Hardin, Watson’s attorney, per sources. However, Watson has never been inclined to waive his no-trade clause for the Eagles. Moreover, Philadelphia has publicly committed to Jalen Hurts as their quarterback.

All I see his is him saying Watson has not waived his no trade clause, I see nothing saying the Eagles are out.

I knew the Niners would be out. They don’t have the draft picks to deal for a big non-starter.

From what we hear, Seattle and Carolina are not high on his list of places to play. Seattle, the weather I understand but if he wants to win a Super Bowl, he can team up with a coach who's already done it.

I don't understand other than the weather why he would want to come to Miami if he wants to win a Super Bowl.

He also likes New York and the Jets hold the 4 and 10 spots in this year's Draft, those are high 1st rounders plus they would ship Zach back so Houston would have a young arm to develop and have a lot of draft choices to build around him. If you can even take Houston seriously, they've #### the bed for the last couple years in ways we haven't seen done before.

If you think Watson is controlling the cards then you have to still take the Jets and Dolphins seriously.

Tampa has the strongest team of any one who wants Watson and they have good weather and I think if anyone spent time in Tampa Bay/St Pete, it's easy to like the area IMHO. I never heard that TB wasn't on his list but I also haven't heard a lot of noise that it was a favorite landing spot either. I do think Watson would play there if given the chance and assume Miami and NYJ are not possibilities then I think he would look at the Bucs.

This Tepper is a Mad Man, what QB wouldn't want to go play for him? That guy is all in on winning if he ever can find his QB. I personally cannot stand him but that's me.

Honestly, if I’m a 26yo single QB, Tampa is the top spot I’m interested in. NO might be second.

I’m really curious how the politics surrounding the no trade clause plays out here. Yes Watson holds strong cards, but at what cost?

If Houston has a spectacular deal and Watson tries to force them to take a far less deal, you know the rest of the league is watching. It could strongly signal the end of these kinds of deals.

Keep in mind Watson still hasn’t played on the deal he signed with the huge number in Houston. He signed after DHop was dealt too and then became disgruntled. I just can’t see owners tolerating that nuance in future deals depending upon what happens here.
sure they will

if they so concerned , they wouldn't be making offers now

the hypocrisy runs deep when you want to win

Those Tampa strip clubs are huge. I don't mean they are popular. They are, but that's not what I mean. They are big, like large. Area wise. Lotsa space.

I'm saying you could fit a massage table in most Tampa strip clubs.
Used to frequent a place called the pink pony that was the size of like, a Lexus dealership. Used to crack me up.

When I was 19 my girl worked the Dollhouse on West Shore Drive, and there was a place next door, called Yucatan Liquor Stand, that had a volleyball court out back. I didn't even have ID, but I always rolled up with 3 or 4 strippers, so no problem at the door. Monday night there was some promotion, and all the girls from Dollhouse and Hooters would come through. It was effing insane.

Ah man. Thee Dollhouse. Many fond memories. I’m sorry what was this thread about again? Where am I?

There’sa pink pony near here too. Can’t say I’ve ever been. (Haven’t, but even if I had I wouldn’t say it)

just heard the Vikings are interested. Could help get back to their plundering ways. And that other thing 🤔

Adam Koffler @AdamKoffler

Josina Anderson just said stuff is about to get crazy

Hurts removed QB for the Philadelphia Eagles from his bio and his location says “Houston, Texas”

Is Howie really gonna ship Jalen to Houston for Deshaun Watson…

Think this was debunked earlier today, supposedly Hurts hasn’t changed his Twitter bio in years. It never said QB and he was born and raised in Houston.

Supposedly the Texans are requiring Watson to remove his NTC for teams before engaging their offer. I still expect the team to give more weight to whoever gives them the best deal, as opposed to letting Watson control things. I see them calling his bluff. He wants to play.

Vikings would be such an interesting fit. They have a young, improving OL, maybe the NFL's best 1-2 punch at WR, and one of the best playmakers in the backfield.

I also think Houston would be very interested in getting Cousins in return. I don't buy for a second that David Mills is their long-term QB. I wonder if Houston would be interested in Danielle Hunter as well? Maybe the Vikings could get a deal done for Watson with just Cousins, Hunter, and the #12 pick?

It wouldn't fix the defense in any way, but they could go for the old Culpepper/Moss gameplan of just trying to win shootouts every week.

I’d think it more likely for cousins to be dealt elsewhere. But then I think they’ll give Mills a chance to show whether he’s their franchise QB.

22 accusers have gone public.  He hired 'other' massage 'therapists', known total of 40.

https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/browns-maven-features/browns-confidence-in-watson

...Consider what these 22 massage therapists are alleging. A man was patronizing women in a field that would give him plausible deniability and then harassing or otherwise imposing with unprofessional expectations of a sexual nature. As one accuser suggests, it's behavior that might be escalating.

It's not strange for a professional athlete to utilize massage therapy as part of a process to keep their body in the best shape possible.

It is strange for one athlete to go so many different massage therapists. When the charges initially came out, there were players that were struck by that fact alone including former 12-year veteran Jermon Bushrod.

In since deleted tweets, Bushrod said, "I think I had half of that throughout my whole career.” He also noted that players tend to stick with a massage therapist they like.

Andrew Brandt@AndrewBrandt

Making no statement on innocence/guilt of Deshaun Watson, but the number of therapists is unusual. Many players get massages with standing appointments with same therapist. In Green Bay there were 2-3 that most players (and I) used. Most teams have a couple that work with them.

...What's a rational explanation for one person to have gone to so many different massage therapists?

..................................................

Not worth the trouble IMHO.

A Massage Therapist on Her Session With Deshaun Watson

legally speaking. nothing to do w what i think.
You asked if it was consensual, it wasn't so it wasn't legal.  He'd hire a hooker if he wanted consensual, he would not hire someone for 90 minute sessions and ask/add an additional HOUR for THIS:

A Massage Therapist on Her Session With Deshaun Watson

...Watson’s conduct during their 2.5-hour session; she says it was unlike anything she’s experienced from any other client she has treated.

...the Texans quarterback engaged in some form of sexual misconduct against them during a massage appointment, including exposing himself, purposefully touching them with his penis, ejaculating on them or, in two of the complaints, forcing them to put their mouths on his penis.

... behavior that was both inappropriate and unlike any other interaction she’s had with any of her more than 1,000 clients—including other professional athletes—in her several years working as a massage therapist...

..........................................................................................................

You'll have to read the rest.  Not suitable for the board.

You asked if it was consensual, it wasn't so it wasn't legal.

but he isn't being criminally charged for it. im not, in any way, saying he didnt do what he's being accused of. but he's not legally/criminally guilty of it

think of it like OJ. we all know he did it... legally, he didnt. and for most teams, seems to be what matters.

You specifically asked:

I don't think anyone is denying he got tugged.... The question is was it consensual or not.
I don't care if he 'legally' slid bye the grand jury.

He still has 22 CIVIL cases hanging over his head.  That will get played out and we'll hear about it a lot, over-and-over-and-over because it won't go away.  He will get suspended.

PR nightmare, he earned it.

yes, consensual or not to the courts. the real courts. not the court of public opinion. the court of public opinion means close to ZERO when it comes to league.

public opinion court will get him what.... 2-6 games suspension?

if he was criminally charged he'd maybe never see the field again.

i feel you think im arguing against you. im not. but he has totally "gotten away with it"

He could be legally held responsible for his actions without being criminally held responsible for them. Thus the civil suits.

for sure... but what's the longest a player has even been suspended for a civil suit?
6 games for Roethlosburger is the longest I recall without a criminal charge.

On the radio this AM they (NFL guys) were guessing this would be “8-10” due to the sheer volume of complaints.

Rationale = NFL has to make a statement that they take sexual assault seriously, etc

Despite the legal clearance due to not enough evidence, the civil suit and public backlash will almost certainly lead to a sizable suspension. Decent chance he doesn’t play in 2022 imo. Decent being like 30%+.

Why?  The judicial system doesnt.
That’s potentially a false conclusion though. The judicial system either lacked enough evidence, or the prosecutor lacked enough will to pursue the matter.

That’s not the same as the judicial system not wanting to send a message about sexual assault.

Does Arians qualify as questionable? Granted, his ring is a gift from Tom, but he’s over .600 regular season and playoffs. I do rate Tomlin higher but he’s definitely competent. Overall I’d put the a Bucs chance of winning over the browns by a fair amount.
No, I'd say he's solid, though it seems like he didn't end on great terms with Tom. But the Bucs are projected to lose their center and their great Guard just retired surprising the team. Their O-line will 100% be questionable and they're projected to lose a lot of talent in free agency. They're nowhere near the same team they were last year, let alone 2 years ago.

Aaron Wilson of Pro Football network says 49ers and Eagles are out on Watson.
Sounds like the Saints and Panthers have already made offers. I think that if the Browns enter the fray, they have the best shot at getting a deal approved by Watson because they have WR talent (Cooper), great RBs, a great O-line, and a very talented defense. The Browns would instantly be Super Bowl contenders and I'd absolutely hate it. The Steelers facing Watson, Burrow, and Jackson 6 times a year would destroy our chances of success.
