QB Jameis Winston, NYG (7 Viewers)

Since his awful week 1 performance, Jameis is the 13th-best qb in football according to PFF.

:coffee:

(Mariotta is 24th for the record)
:lmao: PFF is the same site that gave Josh McCown a horrible grade this week even though he threw for 457 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs and completed 70% of his passes. Or gave Aaron Rodgers a negative grade when he threw 5 TDs and 0 INTs.

PFF has lost all credibility on their player grades.

Winston has shown some flashes, but he still has a LONG way to go. And with so much talk about how he was NFL ready and could jump right in, it sure seems like he's behind the curve compared to where he was projected to be.

Pro-Winston fans will look point to certain stats and say he had a good game.

11 ypa, 1 TD to 0 INT, and a win.

Anti-Winston fans will look at certain stats and say not so fast.

On a day where TB has 392 yards of offense, the running backs accounted for 294 of those. That amounts to 75% of the offense coming from the running backs. The Dallas Cowboys last year, the team who had the most RB production, had 46% of their offense run through the RBs.

And then there was that play where he almost gifted the Jags a fumble-six while being sacked.

So anti-Winston fans will say, if you think Winston had a good game, then you'd also think Alex Smith has had good games his whole career. An Alex Smith that panics and gives near gifts to the defense when pressured.
And then people who use unbiased sites like PFF will say Winston had the 8th-best qb game yesterday. Also you can't #### on him for forcing balls into coverage and creating turnovers and THEN turn around and #### on him for taking what's available and letting his skill guys do work. For one it's disingenuous and two it also avoids the fact that it's the qb's job to do exactly that.
And MUCH more his job to do the latter during his rookie season than the former. It's not a great "he's going to win us a Super Bowl!" Day in my opinion, but it is a HUGE learning curve day. Take what you're given, run the offense, let someone else be the star if that's what's warranted, get the W. He didnt cost tgem the game trying to be a star. That says more about his development than any other stat, to me. It's the first time I've believed he could do what's necessary to be a starting QB in the NFL long term.
That could be because the coaching staff was scheming for Winston to make those throws and not because Winston was going through progressions and took what the defense gave him. Since I wasn't able to watch the game, and even then it can sometimes be hard to tell, I couldn't tell ya which one it is.

PFF has so much respect and cred that they are now shutting down their public portion of grading and selling it strictly to NFL teams and other services for a huge cost.

But yea, I'll just take the opinions of the message board trolls instead.

Could have been a game winning drive if Simms didn't blow it...good decision making though and seemed pretty calm.

Huh? You talking about the throw to the middle of the field with no timeouts and twelve seconds left at the snap?

If lovie and company remember how to coach, defense preferably, they would of won easily. Winston, martin and Evans dominated.

Over the past two games, he's managed to complete 34 of 48 passes for 506 passes, three touchdowns, no interceptions and three sacks. That's a ludicrous 10.5 yards per play, with really no throws that were nearly picked off.
Hey LOD is that any good? My inferior football intellect and scouting process can't handle that. Did VinceMarcus Young ever do that?

Right here doosh. It's like his 8th possession of his first game. Not calling it a career yet.

Lovie is way way way worse than Jameis anyhow. Is Winston playing defense?
So the current excuse is HC and defense. Your good talent evaluators can figure out if a guy has it or not before they even play a down in the NFL. This guy doesn't have it like we told you.
You nailed it, bro

Done for now. There's so many I could bump it's practically a treasure trove.
Why? His progression speaks for itself. Stop behaving like lod. Act like you've been on the right side of something before.
Nah, I prefer this actually. The ####storm from those two for 6 months deserves this kind of response.
Well good for you. Just be aware that you are acting just like lod.

Nothing deserves you repeatedly spiking the football just a few games into his career. Show a modicum of maturity and class. Or earn yourself a reputation like lod has - because that is right where you are right now.

Settle down dad. It's a message board, not church.

OK, but the constant victory dancing in these threads just waters them down and renders them less useful. Winston is proving many naysayers wrong and silent. He's play is vindicating you and many supporters.

We all know you have been driving this bus. We don't need a constant PA announcement to remind us when he plays well.

1) it was like 6 posts

2) I haven't done it after every game

3) the ignore button is right up top

Cool. Can we change the thread title to;

Jameis Winston - Battle between LOD and Capella for Internet Supremacy

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/10/26/season-best-performance-for-jameis-winston/

A few interesting excerpts.

"This week saw the high point of his young career, with an excellent grade (+5.0) coming against the Washington Redskins in a game the Buccaneers ultimately lost. In fact, only Tom Brady’s excellent performance against the Jets received better marks for a quarterback in Week 7."

"He still struggled under pressure, completing just 42.9 percent of his passes when the Redskins brought the heat, but did at least avoid making big mistakes and was able to punish Washington on the blitz."

"On passes that traveled 10+ yards down field, Winston completed 10-of-12 attempts for 204 yards and two scores. He earned a positive grade in every area of the field he targeted on those passes, and showed some of the upside that every team knew was there at draft time. His deep pass to Mike Evans, in particular, early in the game was a thing of textbook beauty."

Nah but if you think somebody isn't going to respond on a message board after 6 months of #### posts, then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm on your side in the Winston debate, but I'm not a huge fan of the gloating either. Don't need to play down to the other side.
