QB Jameis Winston, NYG (1 Viewer)

- She reported the incident the night of the rape, but doesn't know who it was.

- Winston's semen is found on her during the rape exam.

- A month later she identifies Winston as the rapist the first time she sees him in class.

Either she's the greatest long con artist in history or Winston raped her.
In this call is the first time we hear of the accuser being hit in the head as this is what the accuser told her friend (and other friends as well as we learn) who relayed that information on the 911 call.
Funny, that's not her story now. Is it possible that she was hiding the fact that she was into black guys from her father, and since she was being recorded at the apartment it created a problem? She hid her relationship with the high school QB from him. I'm not here to get into a fight about this. I'm just suggesting that as an appraiser I hope you aren't so quick to make such a judgement when people who have more information than you and are in position to assess this type of stuff (namely a supreme court justice) wasn't ready to make the same judgement.

I personally don't care if you like the kid or not. I'm just telling you that you lose credibility with me in your assessment of his (or any other) player on the field when you make comments like this. Then again, who cares what I think about you, I guess.

I'm looking at this as logically as possible. I'm also not in court and can give my judgement.

That her story isn't exactly the same is not a huge deal - she was in shock. Winston's friend said ""She was crying, and like, she wouldn't even let me touch her, and I assume that's just because I'm a guy, you know...so she was really like traumatized I guess," Marcus Jordan told the investigator during his interview on November 18th. He was with the accuser and her friends at Potbelly's that evening."

She called her father immediately and told him what happened. He raced up there to see her. Accusations that she made this up because she was ashamed of having sex with a black guy are ridiculous.

From his hearing:

"All right," Harding said. "I think it would be helpful, and I understand you have exercised your right, and you may continue to do so; but, from the purpose of helping the decision maker to understand, the Complainant has indicated that she continually resisted by saying no to your sexual overtures, and you have indicated that she gave consent. And I would like to know in what manner, verbally or physically, that she gave consent. And I ask that with the understanding that you have previously given."

After Winston initially hesitated to answer the question, Cornwell advised him that it was OK to answer, according to people who were in the room.

"Both, Your Honor, verbally and physically," Winston said.

"And what did she say and what did she do?" Harding asked.

"Moaning is mostly physically," Winston said. "Well, moaning is physically. And verbally at that time, Your Honor."

"Well, that was during the sexual encounter?" Harding asked.

"Yes, Your Honor," Winston said.
I know it's sensitive since you've cheered this guy to a national championship, but looking at it as an outsider there's more than enough evidence to think he's guilty of rape.

If you think cstu hadnt lost all credibility when it comes to Winston months ago, you simply haven't been paying attention.

Really it's been nice comic relief for the thread, though. So I say carry on.

Letting it go, enjoy your stud QB.

Cstu -

When it comes to a rape charge, that is literally one of the biggest deals. You are making a fool of yourself, seriously.

Does it really matter if Winston is there or not? Sure, this is unusual but not a big deal IMO. Wasn't it just a few years ago that Joe Thomas went fishing during the draft? I know he wasn't the top pick but he was in the running for it.
Does it matter, maybe, maybe not, but it's just a very strange thing for a guy to do who is trying build a positive image. The story of staying home so he can be with his friends and family is utterly ridiculous. Every other QB has went to the draft, why does he really not want to be there?
So strange...so ridiculous...that every other QB wants to be there...oh, except also Mariota.

I think perception of the draft has changed because of the Rogers and the Geno Smith experience. NFL has chosen to make it a reality TV show, which probably works among the First Take audience, but a lot of people hate it. I don't blame Winston at all for staying well away from it.

Plus, who wants to hug a sweaty Irishman.

Anyone care to respond to why she didn't name Winston the night of the rape if she was making it up?

At a press conference Thursday to re-introduce the Campus Accountability & Safety Act, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., was asked what it says about the NFL and our culture that Winston will likely be the first overall pick in the NFL draft in April.

"I think it's very important that any team that is thinking about drafting Jameis Winston watch this movie before they draft him," she replied.

In "The Hunting Ground", Erica Kinsman, a former FSU student who accused Winston of raping her in December 2012, spoke publicly for the first time. The film was screened at the White House on Wednesday.

Coingestion of ethanol did not significantly affect renal clearance of GHB, but urine GHB concentrations were lower in the first 3 h when ethanol and GHB were coingested (p = 0.039).

At a proposed cut-off of 10 mg/L to distinguish endogenous versus exogenous GHB levels, 12.5% of the samples collected from 3 to 6 h, 81.3% of samples collected from 6 to 12 h, and 100% of urine specimens collected from 12 to 24 h were below this level.

We conclude that the detection time for GHB in urine may be shorter than the previously reported 12-h window in some people taking therapeutic doses of GHB.

Well I for one cannot wait for the bucs to draft this guy. I just hope that he only serves up INTs and not pick-6's vs ATL since I have Matt Ryan and Devanta Freeman.

The dude will be a fantastic addition to my Carolina D as well.

There's a good chance the Bucs punt on this whole mess and trade the pick to the Eagles and get Bradford.

This thread has turned into a :tfp: , well done gang.

There's no turning back now.
We won't even kick this thread into high gear until week 1 of the upcoming season.

I've got Bradford as my #2 and I don't need him anywhere near the lowly bucs.

Three first rounders without Bradford. Four with. :)

Right, because who wouldn't want to draft a guy about to be sued in a civil case for rape with a documentary about it hitting theaters?

The civil case is against FSU, not Winston. Sure it will certainly hang over him while it's ongoing, but his case is closed. He was found not guilty. We could argue about that decision being reached because a lack of evidence or mishandling of the situation until we're blue in the face, but the system has spoken and he was cleared.

A documentary about rape is going to be polarizing as well... but again it's not about Winston. The documentary is about rape culture on college campuses. His accuser is in it and talks about the situation, but from my understanding it has more to do with how the University handled the situation rather than what actually happened that night.

I think most following the situation would question how it was handled and it really makes you question what actually happened... but 2+ years later and no new information, we're never going to know what actually happened.

You're trying really hard here and it's admirable, but c'mon this is getting silly. It's time to move on...

With the pick so cemented, we already have demand for both Bucs-Winston tees and FSU-Winston tees at retail.

The local Gator fans will hurt to some degree, but looks like most who forecast this sort of thing for a living expect a nice market.

The civil case is against FSU, not Winston.
Which is as it should be. This crap doesn't happen in a vacuum. Yes, the young man is culpable, but, why was the investigation so badly botched? (FSU fight song)

God there's so much wrong with football and the suits who run it. Sorry. Got a cold. Depressed.

How does being a rapist disqualify anyone from being the qb of an NFL franchise?
Great question... Let's ask Ben Roethlisberger. Have him talk to cstu when he's done.
McNulty waited a year to file civil charges against Roethlisberger and never filed criminal charges. The whole thing seemed shady.

In the bathroom case, I believe that she was raped because she was too drunk to give consent.

It doesn't. It's a symptom, not a disease.

The disease, if it exists, is that Winston appears to have made a habit of serially disastrous life choices. From the obvious and much-talked-about off field stuff with the crabs, and the rape, and the various immaturity-driven decisions, to the less glaring personal fitness choices and lack of gameday preparation all last season.

There's a mountain of evidence that says this kid lacks the intelligence and emotional maturity to commit himself to anything, never mind something as notoriously difficult and demanding as QB'ing an NFL franchise.

If there's a glimmer of hope, it's in moments like the Gruden film bit. It's clear he's at least capable of battening down the hatches and memorizing some info. Committing to a lifestyle of doing nothing but that, then practicing it constantly, and then getting and staying fit in the tiny bit of free time remaining is another ball of wax entirely. It's a lifestyle that demands consistently good decision making and dedication, both on and off the field. In fact, that skill is orders of magnitude more important than the ability to make all the throws at an all-pro level.

Tons of successful QB's with so-so arms. Very, very few with Howitzers and the emotional maturity of a dauchshund.

I think it's a losing gamble, especially with the real cost (as well as the opportunity cost) of spending a #1 overall on him.

There's a sentiment that you have to take the risk if you don't have a QB. My belief is that you have to maximize your chances of getting a good, productive player out of the #1, and I feel Winston is a terrible way to try to do that. IMO, they'd be a lot further ahead going with Williams, and then someone like Hundley in the second, who has a much better makeup for a pro QB. But I think TB fans have blinders on because the kid from the nearby school also happens to toss the ball like Jeff George. Problem is, even George was more committed than Winston.

Good luck, fellas. You're gonna need it.

Well seeing as rape is a felony it's kind of hard to be a professional quarterback from jail. Are you serious with this question? If a professional quarterback is convicted of rape I would seriously hope that they never were the face of an NFL franchise again.

Was Winston convicted of rape?

ESPN Insider article (the Winston comp is a free peak)

NFL comps for top prospects

Excerpt:

Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State (Scouts Inc. rank: 1)Statistical comps: Matt Ryan, Chad Henne, Blake Bortles

Winston has the prototypical build (6-foot-4, 231 pounds) of an NFL QB, but his hands and arms are smaller than expected for a player his size. Based on his physical attributes, Winston most closely resembles Bortles (6-5, 232) and Ryan (6-5, 228); they have the height to see over offensive linemen and the stature to take punishment in the NFL. Athletically, Winston was slower than expected at the combine (4.97 40) and is closest to Chad Henne coming out of Michigan. -- Sharon Katz

Scouting comps: Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan

The size and athleticism aspect is the only thing I see in common with Bortles and Henne. Winston is far more advanced than both of those players were when they were coming out. He is similar to Ryan from a mental aspect and in their confidence to take risks and throw with anticipation. Remember, Ryan had 19 interceptions in his last season at Boston College, which is similar to Winston's 18 in 2014. There is not an ideal comparison for Winston. In terms of his ability to deliver in a crowd, there is some Roethlisberger in his tape. -- Kevin Weidl

No. Carefully read the exchange again.

Why aren't you still flaming Roethlisberger in his thread? Seems like you're very passionate about this social issue... Or is it you're just very passionate about smearing Winston. They seem to have alot in common, but Roethlisberger gets a pass?

My question was more of a statement to those who want to crucify Winston and not directed to you. Sry for the confusion.

If it happens, no way it's public. It'll be settled out of court and no one will get the details. See Roethlisberger.

This is part of draft discussion. If Roethlisberger's rape had happened before he was drafted I'd be doing the same thing. He's a member of the Steelers, that isn't going to change, and he settled the case so it's over - Winston's isn't.

I guarantee you that Ben is no longer on any of my dynasty teams and where I did have him I traded as soon as I could.
