QB Jameis Winston, NYG (1 Viewer)

Sorry to disappoint you but if the bucs take Mariotta I'll be ready to support him. Unlike you, I am not delusional or in your case, insane enough to think I know more than these guys.

The only way I will be truly disappointed is if they don't take a QB at all.
Not disappointed at all, because it will never happen. Fair to say, you'll be misspelling Mariota's name forever, because there's zero percent chance he will be relevant to you. No way the Glazers, knowing that Tampa culture and it's monster level of support behind Winston, take anyone else at #1. They are in a POS stadium in a POS part of town with a POS team. Last thing they need to do is piss off their already soft fanbase, who, long before the Rose Bowl debacle against Oregon, had pushed all in on Winston. The cognitive dissonance, alone, is too much to navigate.
No idea what you're talking about. :loco: Edit: on pewter report (most well known Bucs site) the vote for MM over Winston is like 53-47 with thousands of votes. So not only are your posts difficult rambles to read, they are also thoroughly inaccurate.
Bucsnation down?

Anyhoo, I'll shorten up my posts for you in the future. I would like to see a link to that poll. Pewter report has a worse search engine than FBG.

Have no idea what the work ethic thing is about. Everybody has said for 3 years he was in the film room a legendary amount of time.

You people are just making #### up.
I don't buy it. He makes too many mistakes for someone who spent a legendary amount of time in the film room.

Also his weight - look at how fit he was at the Elite 11 compared to how he looked last year - including a double chin.
Oh he's in there, he just doesn't know what he's looking at.

Jameis is smart...I've seen enough of him to be able to tell that if he applies himself he figures out the game rather easily.

The question about the film room is whether he's intently studying what he's supposed or if he's joking around being the class clown with a lot of the time.

He went 28-1 as a starter including a phenomenal 2013 season. We've already been over the reasons for a "subpar" 2014 (like 6th in the heisman or something, but ok) -- you just choose not to acknowledge them so I'm not going over it again.

Here’s a look at the top 10 QBs (minimum of 23 starts):

Jameis Winston, Florida State (2013-14) - 26-1 (.963)

Jay Barker, Alabama (1991-94) – 35-2-1 (.934)

Danny Wuerffel, Florida (1993-96) – 32-3-1 (.903)

AJ McCarron, Alabama (2010-13) – 36-4 (.943)

Buck Belue, Georgia (1978-81) – 27-3 (.900)

John Lastinger, Georgia (1981-83) – 20-2-1 (.891)

Greg McElroy, Alabama (2007-10) – 24-3 (.889)

Tee Martin, Tennessee (1996-99) – 22-3 (.880)

Bobby Scott, Tennessee (1968-70) – 20-3 (.869)

Peyton Manning, Tennessee (1994-97) – 39-6 (.867)

Tim Tebow, Florida (2006-09) – 35-6 (.866)

:lmao: Say what you will about his supposed "work ethic." It didn't show up on game days last year, and he certainly wouldn't be the first prospect to be grotesquely oversold by his program (since it benefits them to have a track record for helping their guys' draft status when they're recruiting), but it surely can't be disproven.

But he is NOT smart. Have you heard him speak? He can't comprehend questions he's being asked, goes off rambling incessantly about "keeping it real" any time he can't think on his feet quickly enough to conjure an answer, and responds to questions about the health of his shoulder by informing us that it's, "the same arm he always done had."

This kid is WELL south of average intelligence, and there's far more than enough signs to point to in order for that to be a no-guesswork slam dunk. He isn't the first bigtime athlete to have a completely fictionalized capacity for intellect, and he won't be the last. But once you're in the spotlight and have to talk and think simultaneously, there's nowhere to hide.

Whoever gets him has to work around the knowledge that there are more ways than one they're getting a child's brain with that million dollar arm.

You forgot to mention he is black.

There are so many bad posts in this thread I know I can just get up every morning, read through it and get a good laugh.

Would it make sense for a QB that is supposedly out of shape and lazy to play better in the second halves of games? Wouldnt he be winded or looking tired, not playing better?

Also, would a guy who is lazy play two sports

in college? He has a full ride from just playing football. If he was really lazy, he would just play XBOx in the offseason. There is really

no benefit to him other than the love of the

game and competition.

And he was a really really good pitcher for one of the better baseball programs in the country.

fair points, but wouldn't also a lazy guy just rape a girl rather than put the work in on that?

Fine example of pissing in the pool right here folks.

Man that's good stuff. Getting excited.
Gruden really stuck it to him on the picks for going to Rashad so much. Good for Winston to just own it instead of saying, "I kept forcing it to Greene because I couldn't trust the other WRs to run the correct route."

I did get the feeling he's still very much in love with baseball. I can't blame him. It will be very tough for him not to scratch that itch.

Jameis Winston - QB - Player

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports Jets GM Mike Maccagnan "hasn't ruled out" the possibility of trading up from No. 6 overall in the upcoming draft.

The target would likely be Florida State QB Jameis Winston, who is "highly regarded" in the Jets' organization. Winston is expected to visit the Jets' facility in the coming days. Moving up from No. 6 to No. 1 or 2 to nab Winston would require a massive haul, but Maccagnan has proven aggressive early on.

Sounds like Jeff Samardzija. Samardzija's decision to play baseball is going to pay off bigtime in about 6 months or so.
Like I said earlier, if Winston's NFL career doesn't go smoothly he has a 95 mph fastball a MLB team would love to have. There should be more concern that Winston is looking at football as an easy $20M pay day before he goes on to spend the next 10 years in baseball.

A report surfaced this week that one of the Bucs’ owners has raised some internal questions about the the community relations impact should they choose Winston. On Friday, Ron Jaworski was a guest on CSN’s Philly Sports Talk and said he is picking up buzz that Marcus Mariota is going to be Tampa’s selection.

The latest I'm hearing now from my sources around the league, who are pretty wired in, is that he's going to go number one now to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," said Jaworski.

It would be a smarter pick, but still a bad pick.

Plenty of QB's with at least Winston/Mariota-ish likelihood to succeed available later in the draft. These guys are all projects with obvious pitfalls, so you may as well pay pennies instead of dollars. Ain't no Leonard Williamses in the second. You've got a chance to take your strength and make it a dominant force.

Alas, the good GM's (for obvious reasons) don't get a lot of picks at the top of the draft, so we get this sort of clownshow instead.

Plenty? There's Petty and Hundley who look like they could be NFL QB's. If you want to gamble on Petty in the 2nd instead of Mariota I get that (although I feel Mariota is special), but Hundley is a glorified E.J. Manuel - all talent, not a NFL QB yet.

I think it's really amusing this notion that Glazer's daughter could step in and overrule all the males in that organization.

Or she could convince them that it's not in the team's best interest to draft a QB accused of rape with civil trials looming. The first impression most NFL fans are going to get of Winston is as an accused rapist, not great for the brand.

Yeah Steelers Nation will forever be tarnished because Big Ben is still a Steeler AND signed a enormous contract - post rape allegation / civil suit settlement. The Rooney's have such a horrible reputation for sticking with him...
