The Giants are playing fantasy football- they're playing keepaway with Jameis so nobody else can use him against them.RIP
This line is going to get him injured and the defenses are going to destroy his confidence. Couldn't they sacrifice Jameis instead?
Yeppp... I have Justin Fields/Tyrod Taylor with no back up QB because I haven't been able to land anyone solid... can't trust either of these guys at this point so I need to take a chance on a QB that I like the talent and his potential to be a solid starter in case I need to more than "Spot" start him. Also, there is nothing on waivers in my leagueAnyone throwing FAAB at him this week? I imagine he's widely owned in dynasty, and probably even SF; so more of a 1QB redraft side. With all of the injuries and underperforming QBs, hard not to fantasize a bit about his upside. I mean at the very least, we don't really KNOW he's going to stink despite the Giants other issues lol. Russ had a hell of a game week 2 fantasy wise. Not that you'd add him and start him this week either, but I have several leagues where I'm strongly considering cutting a bad/injured backup to take a swing. Just not sure what to bid... Also doesn't help I'm in the north east, so if I actually want him, it can't be some 5-10% of FAAB to win. If he can just not turn the ball over, run for his life for 30-40 yards and slide to safety, and throw it in Nabers general direction 15 times a game, he'll probably be ~ QB15 or so with how this year is unfolding so far.
this is what bad organizations do.RIP

Falcons hands down.Well, let me ask you this. Take QB away...would you rather have the Falcons roster or the Giants?Buzz where? I'm not sure I saw anyone but the most loyal fans predicting even a wildcardI hear you...your comments are fair.IMO, Daboll/Schoen need a win, and fast. And I'm, not talking getting to 1-1. Yes, that would help.I believe that wilson does have a somewhat short leash, but not THAT short.Wesley is a way too convincing parody account, its written right on the edge of being believableWesley Steinberg
Sources: #Giants HC Brian Daboll met with ownership this morning to request making rookie Jaxson Dart the starting QB.
I'd say they would give him a couple more games to see if he can right the ship.
But this regime...
- Kicking off their partnership, used the 5th/7th picks in the 22 Draft to select Evan Neal & Kayvon Thibodeaux.
- Followed that up in 2023 with the selection of Deonte Banks. Their performance on Day 2 has been similarly distressing.
- Decided to invest in Daniel Jones instead of Saquon Barkley. Whether that's the 'actual' case...it certainly can be or is perceived that way.
- Broadcast the walking away from Saquon on Hard Knocks which really cratered any potential for an offseason type Hard Knocks to have a Season 2.
- After signing Jones, QB's have ranked; 32nd in TD passes, 31st in passing yards.
- In order to fix the QB situation, brought in Russell Wilson/Jamies Winston...and immediately anointed Wilson the starter. Why?
- Watched the exiled Jones kill it in IND in Week 1 while their anointed veteran starter that was supposed to provide a better level of QB play tanked...unsurprisingly.
...at the same time, all reports out of NYG training camp were of the 'Dart was much further along' variety and it was clear that he generated a spark, optimism and enthusiasm. And we're talking about a QB who has 45 career college starts if I'm not mistaken.
From my POV, Daboll/Schoen have long ago used up their credibility and the idea of Russell Wilson righting a ship seems far-fetched at best. I don't know if Daboll is thinking he's putting Darts needs above his own. But let's look at NE last year...the narrative was ' oh, you can't put Drake Maye behind that OL'. They waited until , what Week 6? Low and behold, hindsight being 20/20...Maye probably could have started from the jump. In Atlanta, while they had invested in Cousins...Penix had tons of college experience and probably could have started from the jump if the situation allowed for it.
The only reason IMO Dart isn't starting THIS week is that it's away game, and they'd prefer a friendlier environment to have him play his first game. And even that seems flimsy.
I also think the other reason dart doesnt start is the O line in New York is terrible. I dont think you are helping his development by putting him behind a leaky line.
I know everyone wants to see the kid, but the best move is to wait until mid season (at the very least)
Let the kid learn a thing or two by watching the games. then start him against an opponent that has a weaker defense so he can get some confidence.
my 2 cents. for whatever that is worth.
The one thing I would say is that Daboll isn't just Dart's coach...he is the coach of the New York Giants. There was a lot of buzz around the talent on this team being able to actually do some damage this year if they could get solid QB play. That obviously didn't happen Week 1, but it's a continuation of a 2 year trend.
That fact remains, we all know (including Daboll IMO) who Russell Wilson and Jamies Winston are at this point in their careers. And for a team that illicited quite a few 'dark horse' type predictions...continued bad QB likely won't be tolerated outside AND inside of that locker room.
ouch. that is a lot of tough games.the Giants next 6 games are Chargers, at Saints, Eagles, Broncos, Eagles again, and NinersThe Giants face some of the most elite defensive minds over the next 5 games. Total trial by fire.
Nah, he’s elusive .. That’s part of his game. He’s got a little Patty Mahomes in him with his spatial awareness.RIP

elusive helps if one guy gets through. the whole line isnt much more than a turnstile.Nah, he’s elusive .. That’s part of his game. He’s got a little Patty Mahomes in him with his spatial awareness.RIP

not good against the Chargers
Dart is a little shifty. I'm sure he'll make mistakes but he could surprise. I think he'll buy more time to throw than Russ was.RIP

Jaxson Dart hit every benchmark along the way, leading to starting role.
Brian Daboll studied lots of college tape this offseason, which could come in handy for his bag of darts on offense.

The phrase I heard multiple times out of Giants this week: Dart is ready. Rookies will have their mistakes but he’s prepared himself well.
If you saw the game thread, the concussion evaluation was based of the spotter making a mistake.Jaxson Dart completed 13-of-20 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in the Giants’ 21-18, Week 4 win over the Chargers, adding 10 carries for 54 yards and a score.
Dart’s first start was a wire-to-wire upset of the road-favored Chargers with approximately 19 different subplots. The biggest and most unfortunate was Malik Nabers’ second quarter knee injury, which is believed to be a torn ACL. That’s a massive setback for Dart before he even really gets going, but he still managed to game-manage the G-Men to the upset this afternoon. In between, he suffered a hamstring injury of his own while also requiring a concussion evaluation. Dart, obviously, played through the minor hammy issue, but he confirmed this is going to be the wildest of rides. That is especially true with Nabers now lost for the year. Dart’s dual-threat is going to keep him fantasy-relevant, but he is going to have to lean on it even more than expected. His rushing score today was a 15-yard designed quarterback draw. That’s the good stuff. The Saints are the softest of Week 5 road matchups.

Calcutta poorReally solid debut from Dart but losing Nabers obviously hurts his outlook a lot. Could still be a poor man’s Justin Fields for fantasy.
Same. I own in a one QB redraft league and I'm prolly droppingI was super happy I picked him up last week right up until Nabers went down. I can't see the rest of the WR's taking the top off and now they'll bottle up that run game.
I can afford to hold him for a few weeks right now so I'm holding. The other troubling news is that he has a minor hamstring issue too.Same. Bo NixReminds me of Drew Lock.
Jalen Hurts he is not (though I think he thinks he is). And the NYG do not have Philly's legendary O-line. Keep running it kid, you'll get your back snapped in half.
Lesser arm pretty much includes everybodyFaster Justin Herbert with a lesser arm imo lol
Lesser arm .. but, better feel for the gameLesser arm pretty much includes everybodyFaster Justin Herbert with a lesser arm imo lol
I agree. Early days but so far the passing chart is very Nix like.Bo NixReminds me of Drew Lock.
Well they're halfway through that list of games and are doing pretty darn well. I think the Giants have a keeper at QB.the Giants next 6 games are Chargers, at Saints, Eagles, Broncos, Eagles again, and NinersThe Giants face some of the most elite defensive minds over the next 5 games. Jaxson Dart completed 17-of-25 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in the Giants’ 34-17, Week 6 win over the Eagles, adding 13 carries for 58 yards and a second score.
Everyone’s favorite new dual-threat reached 10 carries for the second time in three NFL starts, both upset victories over supposedly far superior teams. (Never mind last Sunday’s loss to the Saints.) Whereas the G-Men merely outlasted the Chargers in Week 4, they took it to the Eagles this evening, going up 13-3 10 minutes into the first quarter and out-scoring Philly 14-0 in the second half. Dart’s Newton-ian usage was a big reason why, though it’s downsides were also evident. Dart took a vicious second half pop to his left shoulder that resulted in yet another concussion evaluation. Bizarrely, coach Brian Daboll seemed to be yelling at the medical staff about the matter. Either way, Dart missed only a handful of plays and the Giants went back on their merry way. In addition to the running, this was Dart’s best overall night as a passer despite a limited supporting cast that required an unfathomable eight Lil’Jordan Humphrey targets. No offense to the big man. Dart completed 68 percent of his throws with a 7.8 YPA. If he can approach that efficiency while churning out gains with his legs, Dart is going to be pushing for QB1 status. Week 7 in Denver is a huge road test vs. an elite defense.

Next Gen Stats
Jaxson Dart finished 17 of 25 for 195 yards and a TD in a win over the Eagles.
Dart added 58 rush yards with 46 coming on 6 scrambles, including a 20-yd TD. Dart is the 2nd QB with a scramble TD pass & rush in a game this season (the other was Josh Allen).
