QB Jimmy Gorgonzola to 9ers for 2nd rounder. (1 Viewer)

Pretty much a first rounder.  Whats even more interesting is that this makes San Fran open for business for teams wanting to trade up to #1/#2 for a QB next year.

But if he plays games this year, I think they might drop out of the top two. Jimmy G has to be worth a win or two.

At least Garcon should save his value.

You think a win or two won't be a top 2 pick?  Even if they go 3-5 in the second half of the season they should still be a top 2 pick

Browns/Giants/49ers are the only ones in the conversation really for the top pick.  Maybe Indy, but even with Jimmy, I still think this team goes 2-14 and gets a top 2 pick.  Cleveland is finally hopefully going to stay put and take a QB... and someone else will sell the farm to San Fran for the other pick.  This is a great deal for San Fran.  They won't miss that pick if they stockpile other 1st/2nd round picks.

I liken this to a rebuilding fantasy Team buying an older vet. We all shake our heads and say stupid. No real team would ever do this. And yet here we are. Unreal.

Lol. I thought Jimmy Graham. Only people who can't spell Garoppolo know him as Jimmy G.

How does this help a rebuilding team? Don't get this at all

Wtf?  Stupid
Stupid for who?  I like this for San Fran a lot.  This is cheaper than the Pats made it sound like they were selling him for.  Also gets him in to learn the system this year and have a full offseason with them.

Also, predicting that they will get a good haul for pick #1/#2, so they won't miss that pick.  They will get lots of 1sts and 2nds in return.

It's aggressive but smart.

We thought Graham. I didn't realize people referred to a backup QB as Jimmy G.

Haha.  I though you meant Jimmy Graham
That’s when you realize how inept the 49ers have been for years. Graham for a 2nd? Stupid AF, but hey, plausible. Because Niner’s.

Always liked Lynch as a player, hope he does well as GM.

Love the move for the Niners. As mentioned above, allows them to use their high 1st at trade bait (and add offensive weapons they desperately need around Jimmy immediately) or take a game changer like Barkley and Jimmy gets a nice head start in the system. (Niners were stocked with 2018 picks....they own the Saints 2nd rounder, Bears 3rd rounder still)

Patriots showing a lot of faith in Brady beating father time here.

49ers acquired QB Jimmy Garoppolo from the Patriots in exchange for a 2018 second-round pick.

Coach Kyle Shanahan gets his quarterback, and the Patriots get something for Garoppolo in the final year of his contract. Tom Brady has shown no signs of slowing down and wants to keep playing for multiple years, making it pretty much impossible to keep Garoppolo in New England at a much higher salary only for him to continue to hold the clipboard as the No. 2. The Patriots have traded both backup quarterbacks in the past two months, first sending Jacoby Brissett to Indy. In San Francisco, Garoppolo may need some time to pick up the offense, but he'll start as soon as he'd ready. Rookie C.J. Beathard has been a complete disaster in two starts after replacing a benched Brian Hoyer. This very likely puts the Niners out of the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes this offseason.

Yes, stupid.  He is a fa next year if you want him that bad.

Multiple years?  Who the hell is kidding who here?  He is 40 years old.  The dude is going to hit the wall at any point now and its going to get ugly.
