QB Kyler Murray, ARZ (1 Viewer)

I think Murray should at least be given the opp to start, you turn to McCoy in the 2nd/3rd if things aren't going well. Colt is not a starter, he's a below avg QB at best dating all the way back to his last college football game where he took a big hit and that was it. He's gutless and I wouldn't start a single AZ SKILL Position player across the board if Colt is the starting QB, abandon ship on basically ALL Cards today.

With 7 teams in the NFC making the playoffs, ARI doesn't need to win the NFC West over the Rams.  Right now the Panthers are 4-4 and in 7th.  They can afford to have their star young QB take a week off.  As an owner, I just hope it's not a multi-week thing.

I was proactive and grabbed Jordan Love for this week.  At this point, even if Murray suits up, I can't trust him to play.  What sucks is it basically forced me to drop my 2nd TE and hope that Kittle can stay upright this week (and get some looks).

And to @Jamesinaz, yes, I would bump Edmonds and Conner.

If only I had started Conner this week.  LOL.  Good news is I look like a winner anyway but holy cow.

USA Today's Tyler Dragon reports that Kyler Murray's ankle is improving, but the Cardinals are keeping the long term in mind with their star quarterback.

Dragon said Murray hopes to play on Sunday against the Panthers, but it makes sense that the Cardinals are keeping the long view in mind with such a valuable young player. Colt McCoy filled in admirably for Murray against the 49ers and would start against in Week 10 if need be. Fantasy managers will need to monitor this situation throughout the week as it has a massive effect on the Cardinals' offense as a whole.

Not planning on watching Murray again this weekend, go back to the play he was injured on, it was nasty the way his ankle and leg turned and rolled, surprised he wasn't out a month. They will be playing a Carolina team withpt Sam Darnold likely, not sure that's really a downgrade but they might not need Murray.

I personally dislike McCoy quite a bit and don't care if he can notch a win or two, he's not an NFL QB IMHO, he should not be looked at as a good option most of the time.

McCoy is 9-22 as a starter, 2-4 in his last 6 starts over the last 4 seasons on 3 different teams

As I was dreading, there is no need to bring back Kyler this week either.  All along, I think ARI had plans in mind to rest him thru their week 12 bye, as long as they were not in danger of losing a playoff spot.  Mark my words - we will not see Kyler back on the field until week 13.

Everyone in the race has kind of been slumping it. Especially after Henry went down.

Well, there's this Lamar Jackson guy... and some dude named Tom Brady?

Lot of football to played yet, but the Kyler Murray MVP campaign from mid-September has been pretty quiet for last 4-5 weeks.

Kyler Murray said he has made "crazy" progress on his ankle and he is optimistic he will be able to play Sunday against the Panthers.

The above statement was tweeted by Darren Urban, but I don't believe for one second that Murray will play against the Panthers, and neither does Murray.  If, like me, you picked up Love for last week instead of McCoy, you might want to visit the waiver wire again.

Kyler Murray (ankle) returned to practice Friday.

It feels like months since Murray last practiced (it's been two weeks) but his presence at Friday's session puts him on the right side of questionable ahead of Arizona's Week 10 clash with Carolina. Fantasy managers might lower expectations for Murray, who over the past couple years has struggled when dealing with injuries that affect his mobility. He's still a QB1 against the Panthers soft secondary and his return is a major boon for all Cardinals pass catchers.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Kyler Murray (ankle) is a game-time decision for Week 10 against the Panthers.

When asked if the Cardinals are considering giving Murray one more week "to be careful", Kingsbury said all situations are being considered but "if Murray is ready to play, he will play." It's a terrific matchup for the Cardinals as two-score favorites (-10.5) at home no matter Murray's status since Colt McCoy is more than capable of suiting up and handing off to James Conner throughout the game. Murray is more of a low-end QB1 if active unless we receive word he's fully healthy and over his tweaked ankle.

I grabbed Carr last week in what seemed like a smash spot. At least for a safe floor. And I own Waller so was hopeful for a stack.

Ended up losing by a TD in my matchup. And I fully blame Carr.

Makes me not want to start him this week if Kyler can’t go, but I still think he’s the best option. Though Garroppolo is playing pretty well these last few weeks.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Cardinals are "pessimistic" Kyler Murray (ankle, questionable) starts against the Panthers.

Per Rapoport, Murray "wants to take it up to game time and Arizona will give him a chance," but it is "likely that Colt McCoy starts." Murray has said he feels better this week, and he finally practiced and got in a limited session on Friday, but it's just so hard to finesse what is seemingly a high-ankle sprain. The good news is, with Friday's return to practice, Murray seems likely to return in Week 11 if he does indeed sit tomorrow. The Cardinals are on bye in Week 12. If McCoy starts, he will be a poor QB2/superflex against a resurgent Panthers defense, especially if DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) remains sidelined.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said "it's going to be close" if Kyler Murray (ankle) can play in Week 11 against the Seahawks.

Blow it out your ###, Kingsbury.  You have known since week 8's game that Kyler wasn't coming back before week 13.  You ain't fooling anyone.

Kyler Murray (ankle) participated in the open portion of Cardinals' practice on Wednesday.

Murray missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday of last week before returning to practice on Friday. He was ultimately not able to play in Week 10, missing his second straight game with an ankle injury. Murray's Wednesday participation is a great sign for his availability in Week 11. The Cardinals managed to get by in Week 9 without Murray, but Colt McCoy did not fare well against the Panthers' defense in Week 10. Murray will be a significant boost for the Cardinals' offense and the fantasy viability of all Cardinals skill players if he's able to return against the Seahawks.

As he returns to practice today. you were saying?

I hope we get some clarity before Sunday because he plays in a late game and I have no alternatives other than his back up (whoever that may be) if he sits.  Ugh

I feel like a conspiracy theorist, but I think Murray and the entire ARI organization have just been stringing us along each week, knowing full well he is coming back after the bye.  As you said, he plays the 4pm game, so your choices are down to these guys if he sits and you wait:

DAL @ KC - no way Prescott or Mahomes are on your wire
CIN @ LV - doubtful Burrow or Carr are on your wire either
NYG @ TB - Brady no, Jones a slight possibility
PIT @ LAC - Herbert no, Rudolphberger perhaps
ARI @ SEA - Wilson no, McCoy finished a respectable QB13 in week 9, but got dinged up and finished QB32 (yes, in a week with only 28 teams playing, he finished QB32), and is now considered "healthy enough" to play.

Murray participated in practice throughout the week and would have gotten the green light already if ArIzona's bye week was not right around the corner in Week 12. Since the Cardinals did not sign another quarterback to the active roster, though, we expect Murray to get the nod for Sunday's important divisional showdown. Whether he's fully healthy and back to being a top-five option is another conversation. Managers should treat Murray as a low-end QB1 on the road.

I just dropped Carr, because he has literally lost two matchups for me in a row with mediocre performances…. And wanted Gallup bad after the Cooper news… So if Murray can’t go and we don’t know till later… I’m likely starting Danny Dimes or Big Ben.

Anyone really think he's playing this weekend?
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Kyler Murray (ankle, game-time decision) will likely miss his third consecutive start Sunday.

Per Schefter, the Cardinals are "not expected to make any final decisions until pre-game warmups," but that "(signs point) to Colt McCoy starting his third straight game." Murray was more involved in practice this week after missing Weeks 9 and 10, but the Cardinals are heading on bye in Week 12. They have probably made the determination that unless Murray is actually close to 100 percent health tomorrow, they aren't going to risk it, even for a divisional showdown with Seattle. With the game kicking off at 4:25 PM ET, fantasy managers need back-up plans in place by the morning.

At this point, Kyler himself could call and tell me he is playing and I wouldn't believe him.  I have been saying he will sit until week 13 for a month now.  Coaches don't want to show their hand unless it's completely obvious, or they run out of time.  If Kingsbury could make the announcement 2 seconds before kickoff, he would.

KYLER MURRAY QB, ARIZONA CARDINALS

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said he's "hopeful" Kyler Murray (ankle) and DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) can play in Week 13 against the Bears.

Fantasy managers whose teams have tanked without Murray and Hopkins also hope Arizona's superstars can finally return to action against Chicago. Kingsbury said he wouldn't be able to say for sure if they can return until he saw Hopkins and Murray practice in the coming days. Murray and Hopkins have been sidelined since the Cardinals' Week 8 loss to the Packers. Before his ankle injury, Murray was fantasy's sixth highest scoring QB. He'll return to mid-range QB1 status if he's a full go against the Bears. Chicago has the third highest expected points added (EPA) per drop back since Week 7.

Thank my lucky stars the Cousins owner dropped him and took a chance on Cam when he joined the Panthers.  I suffered through a week of Jordan Love, then Taylor Heinicke.  At this point, I will keep Kyler on the bench until he plays an entire game first.  Must be nice to have the best record in the NFL and have your QB, RB, and WR in bubble wrap.

Kyler Murray (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday.

Murray logged a trio of limited practices two weeks ago but was ultimately made inactive. He got an extra week of rest with Arizona's bye coming last week and should be good to go for Week 13. Both he and DeAndre Hopkins were limited today and Kliff Kingsbury has said that he is hopeful the duo will return. Assuming Murray makes it through the week without suffering any setbacks, he should suit up and post his usual QB1 numbers versus the Bears.

Dec 1, 2021, 4:59 PM ET

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms Kyler Murray (ankle) and DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) are expected to return for Week 13 against the Bears.

There were a few false starts with Murray before Arizona's Week 12 bye, but this has been the expectation all week. Murray got in some practice reps in Week 11 but still was not ready to suit up after suffering a high-ankle sprain on the final play of Arizona's Week 8 loss to the Packers. Murray had been cruising in fantasy before that setback, and can be immediately reinserted into the top eight vs. a Bears defense that is missing Khalil Mack and gave up a few big plays to Jared Goff in Week 12.

Speaking Friday, Kliff Kingsbury told reporters that QB Kyler Murray (ankle) would be a game-day decision.

Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the week that Murray would play, barring a setback. Murray has continued to progress and is likely to suit up against the Bears. Fantasy managers will need to have a backup option ready, however, as the Cardinals are clearly looking to be cautious with their star quarterback. Fortunately, the Cardinals play in the early window, so Murray's status will be known when early inactives are announced.

Those two monster games to start the season feel like 10 years ago at this point.
I still ain't starting him.  It's Cousins for another week.  Even if Murray starts, how quickly would he yank Murray vs CHI if given the chance?

I will also be a game time decision
After my hand surgery Friday I wasn't put on IR because the coach feels I can still type with one hand, but depending on my Sunday morning warmup will decide whether I play this week.  I'm a true game time decision.

I was thinking about this too. But then I started thinking, is there much precedence for this? Iffy WRs or RBs might have their workload scaled back. But I can't recall iffy QBs coming and then playing limited reps, or being rested early (unless they reinjure themselves of course). So it seems the risk is low and he'll only play if he is ready. Of course like any game, if they are up big in the 4th quarter he could be rested, perhaps a bit earlier than normal. But only if the game is well in hand.

I'm also concerned about a mediocre game, though, since he might not run much and Connor is a TD maniac now a days.. They could just run the ball. I have Murray in two leagues and if I don't play him its Cousins or Carr for me..

Murray started like a monster his first 2 games.  He was QB1 with 7 passing  TD's (689 yds) and 2 more rushing (51 yds).  Then in his next 6 full games, all of which he played healthy (he injured his ankle on the last play of week 8 ), here are his numbers compared to Cousins last 6 games:

Murray - 1587 passing, 10 TD/4 Int, 96 rushing, 1 TD
Cousins - 1617 passing, 13 TD/1 Int, 28 rushing, 1 TD

It's not so cut and dry that Murray, even when healthy, is that much of an upgrade over Cousins.

Good points. Cousins might be the play here. Carr is a tougher decision for me. He had a good game last week but was really bad for several before it!

A healthy Cousins vs DET in a dome
A recovering Murray vs CHI in the freezing rain

Kyler Murray (ankle) is active for Week 13 against the Bears.

The Cardinals amateurishly claimed Murray would be a game-time decision when he himself tweeted early in the week he would be active for the first time since Week 8. We have complete faith in Murray as a high-end QB1 vs. the Bears' crumbling defense, especially with DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) also back in the fold.
