A lot less than it would have a month ago.

If the Eagles are trading up to #1 overall the price wouldn't change regardless of how other teams perceive Mariota.

I always thought the price was what someone was willing to pay. If others are willing to pay more, the price goes up.

If Mariottas stock has fallen, then rather than a big overpay they would have a better chance of getting a more market value deal for the pick, rather than overpay for the player.

Simply because Mariota's value may have changed in the eyes of some people doesn't mean those teams would trade that pick for less return. Mariota's stock is irrelevant.

I didn say they would deal it for a lesser return than a normal #1 pick. They can just draft someone else. They just wont get an overpay like they could have if someone loved Mariotta that much.

Still a fan and a believer in his NFL success, though he'll certainly be limited a little in what kinds of systems he can be successful in. The horror story is if you get some kind of gung ho, Al Davis, Go-vertical-baby coach in there who wants him to beat teams with his arm. I think he can be successful in most systems.

To me, with an NFL QB, you want a guy who is...

...smart enough to understand the offense

...dedicated enough to master it

...quick-thinking enough to make good decisions on the field

...and skilled enough to execute them

It doesn't hurt if he's charismatic enough to get people to buy into him as a leader, but I don't think it's strictly necessary if there's enough leadership coming from other sources on a team.

I think Mariotta checks three of those boxes, and has some pretty serious question marks for the fourth one. Admittedly, though, we're always outsiders interpreting the data the best we can on most of those.

Incidentally, that's also the reason I'm down on Winston. I think he checks only one box.

Winston has impressive physical skills but I believe it will be Mariota's brain that separates him in the NFL. He's also an extremely quick runner, who unlike Griffin knows how to slide.

I like them both.

Winston's on field brain is full tilt. He isn't dumb. As a Buc fan I want to see my team win, and I think Winston gives them the best chance to do that quickly. The infrastructure to win on offense actually seems like it's in place believe it or not.

Mariota could be a quick study, but even within his own scheme at Oregon you see him miss some easy throws. I felt like he had some happy feet in the pocket against FSU and OSU.

The upside of Mariota is extremely intriguing, however. It's a tough decision. I'm glad I don't have to make it.

As recently as a few weeks ago, this wouldn't have been news. Now, however, it's vogue to rank Mariota No. 2 -- amongst quarterbacks (behind Jameis Winston). Mariota fell to No. 6 overall on Todd McShay's recent Big Board, and NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah ranks the Oregon prospect No. 11. Many believe Mariota will fall in the draft, with some postulating that the Eagles will make a play up the board when he does. "Prototypical size at 6-feet-4 and 220 pounds and his arm is much stronger than most think," Klatt wrote. "The system at Oregon will not help him, but he would have flourished in any system that he played in. His best trait is his ability to extend the play and keep his eyes down the field for big plays."

I don't think he'll ace the interviews at all honestly. He's a smart kid, good character, but every interview I see him in is painful. It's like pulling teeth to get him to speak. I actually hope his agent enrolls him in a public speaking class to get him out of his shell a bit.

ESPN's Adam Schefter says there's a "real sense" Tampa Bay has its sights set on Oregon QB Marcus Mariota at No. 1 overall.

Schefter concedes that "many NFL executives and scouts believe Florida State's Jameis Winston is the best pro quarterback prospect in this draft." But perhaps the Bucs and new OC Dirk Koetter see things differently, placing more stock in Mariota's mobility and clean off-field resume. More likely, there's just a lot of speculation out there right now with the draft still three months away. We're skeptical the Bucs have come close to making up their mind yet.

He may even shove lead weights up his butt before the weigh in (there have been rumors of agents having players doing this for years). No way he runs or does any drills. He is going to have a hard time walking straight, let alone running through cones. If he crapped the weights out in that under Armour spandex, then he will likely plummet into the 2nd. He would be ruined.when. He starts training again for the 40 he will probably be 10 lbs lighter at his proday.

There's no Jadaveon Clowney in this draft. When you have the #1 pick, an obvious glaring need at the most important position on the field, and probably the most awful QB history of any NFL franchise you take a QB.
