Very inaccurate on deep throws (usually overthrown, shockingly off). Should look better in a scripted workout throwing against air. Unimpressive so far.

I don't find it shocking. Looks the same in games. Watched his drops pretty closely to see how that's coming along. Not very good imo. Not surprising given the short amount of time he's done them. Still, looked stiff dropping back (like he's thinking about his drop) and shortened them too much.

 
Got tore apart by the crew on NFLN. DJ spoke to friends on the field who said the same thing... Work out wasn't good.

Most were saying it was compatible to Bridgewater, only with Bridgewater you saw better stuff on tape. Bridgewater was missing throws you saw him make in games. With Mariota you saw inacuracy on throws that were also inaccurate in games. Regardless, did you watch it and what did you think?

Bridgewater was the worst workout I've ever seen, like a bad prep QB masquerading as a pro prospect.

So obviously there is hope, but yeah, it was far from a great work out, not really even average. Jeremiah called it underwhelming, but it was almost like that was generous. He did say he threw much better at the Combine.

I didn't watch it closely, but every time I looked up it seemed like he was missing.

If Mariota falls, he falls, it doesn't affect his ability.

 
Bridgewater should not have dropped due to his pro day either. But anybody advocating drafting somebody because he's a "winner" is a moron.

Agreed on both accounts. Lots of guys win in college and then lose in the Pros. Hell, Ken Dorsey was a "winner."

 
So whose going to put up the theory that Mariota didn't do his 100% effort just so he could fall to the eagles theory? I guess I'm the one to throw it up there, although I think it would be 100% false ha

 
I was lukewarm about his performance while watching it. I will also remember darn near drooling on the screen at Johnny Football's pro day though. The performance may just be an off day and easily fixed. We will have to wait and see.

He did the whole pro day from the pocket so he showed off what he was worst at. I still need to see the whole thing but from the highlights it looks like he did 'ok', which is a good thing when it's his weakest area.

If that was the weakest part of his game then he was indeed ok. He by no means did poorly, just did not put on an aerial clinic like Manziel did. Then again, Manziel was chucking it to Mike Evans at his pro day.......

Sorry, but I have to point out that there isn't really a "pocket" at pro days. He was taking drops from center with nobody around. Drops are different for him but that is a far cry from pocket.

We should note, Norris has and will continue to rank Mariota as his top quarterback. "We have to stop asking or expecting these QBs to be perfect in every aspect of their game. The best and quality ones break the molds," Norris tweeted. Three or four passes hit the ground during Mariota's throwing display, but he answered questions by working from center on every throw. Yes, there will be mechanical and technical flaws, like there are with any quarterback. These are the most obvious negatives and ones many nitpick. But focusing on those loses sight on the foundation quarterback traits Mariota and Jameis Winston offer.

Oregon QB Marcus Mariota will visit the Bucs on Monday along with going through a private workout for the team in April.
Jameis Winston already visited the Bucs following the NFL Combine, so Mariota visiting was the logical next step. Bucs GM Jason Licht was front and center at Mariota's pro day on Thursday, standing next to Ken Whisenhunt for most of the day. Mariota is absolutely still a factor for the No. 1 overall pick.

Oregon QB Marcus Mariota has private workouts scheduled with the Jets, Bucs and Chargers, according to NFL Media.
The dates: March 28, April 9 and April 15, respectively. The Chargers are an interesting team in the mix, but clubs do not have a set budget or number of workouts they can schedule if it is off the team's premises. Mariota is already scheduled to attend the Bucs facility on Monday.

He sucked on purpose. Wants to slip to #20 or make it so Philly doesn't have to give much up to move up for him.

 
Mariota is a major project. Footwork, drops, timing passes. He has so much to learn.

Ron Jaworski's did an interview at the Maxwell club awards on Friday and made an observation that I never thought of. He said Mariota never huddled or called plays and he'll have to learn how to do that. I thought, ehh, not big deal until Bruce Arians did an interview about an hour later at the same awards and he said when he worked with Dennis Dixon he had him take play calls and learn how to call a play so that 10 other professionals can understand. He said some, guys just never can do it correctly and with enough confidence.

It reminds me of the scene in Varsity Blues after the starting QB hurts his leg and Moxon comes in and tries to call the play.

Greg Peshek has a breakdown of Mariota's 2014 numbers, in comparison to Winston and Hundley. (He posted similar breakdowns of 9 QBs in last year's draft class, including the big names.)

Out of those 12 QBs, Mariota has the highest completion percentage under pressure, 2nd highest when blitzed, 2nd highest on passes over 20 yards, and 2nd highest on 11-20 yard passes. (Each of those last 3 categories had a different winner, all of whom were part of last year's draft class.)

If he makes it to the Browns, the Eagles may very well trade Bradford for Mariota. There was some speculation that it was the Browns who offered the #19 for Bradford. Maybe something like Bradford + 20 for 12 + some mid round pick.

ESPN's Josina Anderson spoke with multiple coaches at WVU's pro day who think a trade between the Eagles and Titans is still possible.

These coaches do not think Sam Bradford is a fit in Chip Kelly's "system," and that Bradford is only bait to move up to No. 2. We think Bradford is definitely a fit if he handles a pressured pocket better than Nick Foles last year. Having a running threat is not absolutely necessary, despite a public perception saying the opposite. Functional mobility to find operable space and recognizing the open receiver in a timely manner are more coveted traits.

"I thought he looked mechanical, stiff and that his pass placement was not good," Pauline wrote. "Mariota threw behind receivers or had them waiting for passes as they left breaks, and his timing looked way off as he simulated dropping back into the pocket from under center. That said, in my opinion he's still very much a top-10 pick." Rotoworld's Josh Norris, who also attended the event, had a different take. Feels like Mariota is going to slip in the draft anyway at this point. Would be crazy to overpay for Bradford and then overpay again by moving up to the #2 pick.

Chip being chip would be to do what people don't think he will. Everyone thinks he'll move up. So he'll sit back and have his QB drop to him at 20.
