Can’t believe they actually did it.

But for anyone that’s watched a Falcons game in the last month, they have to know this is the right decision. Kirk seems like an outstanding dude and he was once a good QB, but it’s just not there anymore. I don’t know if it’s completely gone or he’s still feeling the effects of the injury, but it’s been really bad.

Let’s see what the rook has got. Personally, I think he’s going to be pretty dang good out of the gate.

Yep, but I think the players are really gonna rally behind Penix and this move. The game in Washington is gonna be tough, but at least he gets a perfect warmup at home vs the Giants (whose pass D is actually pretty good at #8, but still). Then they come home and will trounce Carolina.

He's had all season to soak it in and I bet he delivers in a big way. I don't even like Atlanta but I can't wait for this.

I think Purdy will be a lot better this week, especially in better weather. I think he's a top-10 QB.

I'd be pretty wary of starting Penix this week. While he should offer more mobility and a bigger arm, I could still see the Falcons being VERY run heavy.

I’m considering Penix over Purdy (and Stroud), but I can definitely see Atlanta leaning heavily on the run and not asking Penix to do too much in his first game. Especially given the opponent.

I wouldn’t get expectations too high fantasy wise in his first game, especially at home against the lowly Giants. The playoffs are undoubtedly first and foremost on team brass’ mind, and have to think they’re looking to control the time of possession running the ball and limiting turnovers. The latter part about turnovers is assuredly one of the primary reasons for making the QB switch.

They just barely beat a really bad team by the skin of their teeth that was on its third QB of the season and without their best defensive player on MNF because Cousins is completely inept at this point. Like, they could’ve easily lost that game in the final minutes.

I actually told my friend after that game that it’s going to be really strange seeing Cousins benched coming off of a win.

10 times better I truely doubt it. Atlanta was stupid but Cousins is not without blame in the contract situation. He has been cashing cheques that his arm can't cash for years.

But if you are Cousin why accept a trade under this kind of scenario? Why accept a trade anywhere unless the acquiring team is going to adjust your contract and add in more guarantees? I can't see it myself, feel like this will be like the Russell Wilson situation where some team gets Cousins next year for the league minimum because of the offsets in his contract. Which if works out like this means Atlanta would have paid him $90M for this one season.

Hard to say with QBs. I know it’s a worse injury than an ACL tear. With an ACL you do usually see better play in year two, unless they tear everything (see Javante Williams). As for a torn Achilles, some RBs never make it back, but the QB position isn’t as demanding on the Achilles as it is for a RB, but I could be wrong. Cousins wasn’t mobile to begin with, so I’m not so sure the impact is as great as it would be on someone like Lamar Jackson.

I'd say based on this: Rodgers, Cousins and Greenlaw could/should be back to pre-injury form sometime next season.

Tough call but I'm starting Penix over Justin Herbert in superflex. I have Jayden Daniels at the other QB spot. Herbert hasn't scored more than 20 points for me since week 11, and he's banged up and playing against DEN. Herbert is still the safe, conservative play but I need Penix's upside if I'm going to advance to the title game. It's a gamble but I suspect that Penix's floor is roughly equal to Herbert's ceiling this week. Time to roll the dice and go for the win.
