That's my pair in the league I took Rivers also. Though I'm thinking Dalton will probably get more starts for me based on match ups. That's my favorite committee, for the price. Both guys were top-five fantasy QBs last season; and while they're unlikely to repeat, they both a have a good shot (IMO) of staying in the top ten.Run It Up said:Hes #1 in my 1/2 committee of Rivers/Dalton in more than a couple leagues.
I paired him with RGIII, so Rivers is basically my "safe" option...That's my pair in the league I took Rivers also. Starting him over Dalton @Ravens, I'm fine with the match up.So how are we feeling about Sunday @AZ?
I have a major concern with Game 2 vs Seattle though.
The rest of the schedule looks pretty sweet until Week 16 @SF.
I'm probably doing the opposite. Even if the defenses were equal (and I think the Cardinals are better than the Ravens here), while Allen isn't a slouch, Dalton has A.J. to throw to which gives him a slight edge.Starting him over Dalton @Ravens, I'm fine with the match up.So how are we feeling about Sunday @AZ?

Just some food for thought. In the past 3 years Dalton has 6 passing TDs and 11 interceptions (7 of which were from last year) against the Ravens.I'm probably doing the opposite. That's interesting stuff. Ints don't factor into the QB scoring in this particular league, but it's still indicative of the problems Dalton has had with the Ravens.Just some food for thought. O.k. You guys have convinced me to go with Rivers. Plus I'll get to see him play Monday night.I would certainly argue that the Ravens have a better defense than the Cardinals.I'm probably doing the opposite. Dropped passes and bad routes have been more prominent than Rivers throwing bad throws.Wiz comes to town; Rivers has a great season.
Wiz goes to Tennessee, Locker looks great and Rivers looks bad again.
Simple math.

Really bad play by WRs tonight. Even Gates dropped a simple catch.Benching almost all players against Seattle until 2015 season. Dalton/Palmer week 2.So what are Philip owners doing this coming week with Seattle coming to town? Rivers is my only QB at this time but I'm hitting the waiver wire for a replacement this week.
This was advised about before. I think the Cards' defense might still be good, even excellent, despite the predictions they would decline. And if so opening with AZ (opening, at home, on MNF, with a playoff season in their sites) & SEA is a really tough 2 game stretch, as it turns out unstartable.Wiz comes to town; Rivers has a great season.

The amount of times Rivers threw it underneath to a guy being covered by 2 or 3 dudes, while Woodhead is in the other crossing route completely uncovered with the closest guy being 20 yards upfield blew my mind. Worst tunnel vision I've ever seen from Rivers. However - what I found really worrisome was the lack of use of Woodhead. I had been thinking that people were underestimating the effect of McCoy on the offense last year versus just Wiz, but it's in the use of Woodhead or lack thereof where we see a difference. Those RB patterns are a QB's best friend. Getting a No. 4 (2013) QB at bargain basement was probably too good to be true.
Benching him for Locker, who is playing Dallas. So what are Philip owners doing this coming week with Seattle coming to town?
True. but the missed snap and having to blow a timeout at the end reflects all on Rivers. I think Rivers is a really good QB, but those were two huge mistakes at pivotal moments, costing them the game. If he just catches that snap and throws the ball away, they at least have a shot to kick a FG and go up 20-12.Dropped passes and bad routes have been more prominent than Rivers throwing bad throws.Wiz comes to town; Rivers has a great season.

Philip Rivers - QB - Chargers
Philip Rivers said he will not ignore Richard Sherman's side of the field in Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
Rivers has no plans to pull an Aaron Rodgers and the offshore betting site Bovada has projected the number of times Sherman gets thrown at as three. "It's not one of the deals that you want to go after him by any means," Rivers said. "But our approach is not going to be to completely eliminate [sherman] and not throw over there any." Utilizing the entire field is nice, but Rivers and all his receivers get major downgrades this week. The Seahawks defense has shut down Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Colin Kaepernick and Drew Brees in their last four games.

Maybe. I don't think he'll put up single season record breaking type numbers. They'll still try to run the ball. So against teams that let them do so I'd imagine he'll have more average days. Then again those were 2 of the toughest, if not the 2 toughest, defenses he'll see this season. The Bills D looks solid this week though. Anyway, he's a legitimate top 12 FF QB. For where he was taken in redrafts, he should be giving teams a nice advantage. Is this guy in for a top 5 season? He has the weapons (although Mathews going down stings a bit).
are you kidding me? I think mathews going down HELPSIs this guy in for a top 5 season? He has the weapons (although Mathews going down stings a bit).
I had him to back up Brees last year. He was awesome the first 5 weeks fantasy wise.I'm still baffled as to why his ADP was so low this summer. He has averaged 30 TDs a season since 2008 and was coming off a very strong season, yet many were acting like he was no better than a very good backup fantasy QB. I don't get it.
You know, I saw this all wrong. Classic glass is half empty thing. The drops meant that Rivers was being undervalued, at least by me, judging buy the Seattle game.Dropped passes and bad routes have been more prominent than Rivers throwing bad throws.Wiz comes to town; Rivers has a great season.

I've been preaching this since I saw him play for the first time:
Rivers has an absolute rag arm. It is Chad Pennington-esqe. He is so lucky he has Gates and LT to make him look much better then he is.
https://twitter.com/PFFAdjusting for drops etc, Philip Rivers has been accurate on 81.3% of his aimed passes this year. Leads NFL
The thread title should stay exactly the same. It serves as an amusing reminder about those like LHUCKS and Pasquino who jumped on that bandwagon years ago, and, in some cases, stubbornly stuck with it even in the face of all evidence to the contrary.https://twitter.com/PFFAdjusting for drops etc, Philip Rivers has been accurate on 81.3% of his aimed passes this year. Really - can we change the thread title now?
Great leaders have great games in tough match ups. The Seattle game should tell you all you need to know about how this guy performs. This is an all pro guy who had a bad stretch when the team was in disarray and he was playing through an injury. He'll be smoking it all the way through....Do people generally think Rivers can sustain this level of play for the entire season? I realize this production is more or less a continuation of last season, when he finished in the 6-8 range among QB's. He looks like he's at the top of his game, but the matchups are going to get tougher than the last 2 weeks and I can't imagine he'll be able to do what he did to the Seahawks in every tough matchup. Wondering if he's a sell high or a hold right now.
