QB Taysom Hill, NO (4 Viewers)

Fortunately I covered this at our draft that whatever CBS designates him is his position and that the commish will stay out of it.

This is the way, let the site handle as much as possible and stay out of it
Now that I agree with. Changing position eligibility to something different than what the hosting site has is opening a can of worms that you don’t want to do and IMO a poor commissioner decision. You’re begging for trouble.

We just did the same thing. Guy wanted to change Hill’s designation before and we voted no. Now that they have changed to TE we will go with their positioning

we said we would do whatever the site did....so you knew ahead of time he could be changed or he might not...you rolled the dice either way....it made it an interesting pick or non pick....personally I like that roll of the dice...

eta...fwiw....the league I commish is 21 rounds and anybody you pick in the last 4 rounds you can keep forever as long as they never leave your roster.....so it makes the last rounds very interesting instead of just PK and DST....Hill would have made that interesting...but we have MFL and they haven't changed him yet...he went undrafted...fab should be fun if they change..

Guy in my CBS league dropped him last night for Juwan Johnson because he needed a TE and Taysom was still slotted as QB. He's on waivers for 24 hours. I was thinking of putting in a sneaky claim for him, but CBS just emailed everyone in the league his designation is changed. :lmao:

Looks like CBS not only emailed everyone, but, put him on waivers so that no one could rush to the website and pick him up as a free agent before others in the league heard the news. Interesting because there was a small window in leagues where he was a free agent to grab him after the position change but before CBS sent the email wide and put him on waivers. However, in my league, since he'd been dropped the night before, the 24 hour window became like a 36-hour window and now our league doesn't run waivers again until next week, so he's off the market until Tuesday. Hoping there are some fireworks in the league chat :lmao:

Grabbed him last night as my last pick in an ESPN league where he's listed as a TE. Watching and waiting with interest.

Who knows, could be an immediate sell high after a 2 TD game for somebody who panics at 0-1.

so yeah...at CBS...myself and another guy put bids in for him last night during FAB which processed at 2 AM this morning....neither of us got him....and that then caused a trainwreck of transactions that did go through that were messed up because certain moves were based on getting him or not getting him....so now the commish is having to go back and fix things and sift through the mess....

I got out bid for him and personally I think the other owner should be awarded him and we move on....I tried recommending that to the commish, but he balked...

if CBS was going to go through the process of changing him and notifying people....it would have also been nice for them to go ahead and say they were freezing him ahead of time.....not after the fact....now its a mess and people are going to be complaining about guys getting guys back on their roster, etc....eta: they have since added on or after Thursday night.....:loco:

CBS league, he came up as a topic mid draft when i looked at him and saw him listed as QB. That league runs team QB, so he was off limits. Just picked him up after the change. Hilarity will ensue.

So one team took the Saints Team QB thinking they could use him + Carr combined, and now they can't?

In MFL (MyFantasyLeague), the Commish's access via setup allows to change the position for Taysom Hill. Right now, he's generally listed as QB but I changed it to TE in my league.

I have never played in a league with this setup but that would seem like a no go to me.

What does everyone have him projected at TE? Like the tier with Engram, Ferguson and Njoku? Or up higher with Pitts, Kincaid ?

I have top waiver and looking at him next week off waivers - or waiting for a RB in the first month who could be a game changer.

I sure hope you voted on that before changing it. If not, that is a bad commissioner move.
Virtually every FF ranking included Hill as TE. I simply made the change in MFL to be consistent with other FF websites (NFL, ESPN, Yahoo, etc). Nobody in my league had objected to the change after the owner of Hill raised the issue with Hill's position eligibility.

A guy in our CBS league wanted to draft him (we put the stickers on the board before we enter the pick online) and he couldn't find him on the TE stickers so some of us told him he was classified as a QB, so he went undrafted in our league.

I missed out on all the elite TEs (have Bowers and 'Muth), so I picked up Hill within a half hour of the news breaking on Tuesday that the Saints re-classified him and just played the waiting game. So I'm glad I missed out on the forced waivers period.

Bad move without a vote, unless ALL members of your league is OK with it. IMO he should be only at QB and MFL has it right. I didn't see one snap last year other than at QB, where he would just take off running. But that's besides the point. If your hosting site has him at QB you should call it to a vote, not just arbitrarily change it on your own, especially if anyone in your league objects. If none do, then have at it I suppose. I've been a commissioner for a long time and wouldn't do that without a vote.

Edit: I see you said no one objected, so OK then, but to me personally, I wouldn't do something as drastic as that without a vote.

That's shady if you did it after the draft.

...and we're off!

Per CBS, if Team QB is used, default settings remove Hill, but it can be manually changed.

Not really. This is a very old league (1996), in which we've deliberately held settings (e.g. TQB) in place as tradition. Another rule is that you must roster two TQBs. The manager of Saints TQB also has Eagles TQB, so this is really a back up thing for him.

also @The General as he also commented

eta that our bylaws explicitly state that whatever CBS does, goes. For better or worse.

If he was smart he would start the Saints team QB if it's on a reputable site that has Hill as a QB.

it's on cbs, and they formally moved him back to TE yesterday after final depth charts were released.

Regardless of what he’s classified at, I’d be surprised if he suddenly got a ton of catches or something. He’s a dicey every week start who will likely have a couple of “big” games that include 1+ rush TDs. Great for best ball specifically. To me to group him in the Kincaid tier seems crazy, until we see something different

Agree. I’ve got him backing up Turd Ferguson as a wait and see what happens type spot.

ya, then the whole point is moot.

I feel like Hill is great to have around when the bye weeks hit and you realize you have three players out. You just have to hope it's a "Taysom week."

Was drafted as a TE last weekend, but our league stipulates you can only carry 2 QB's, so we allowed the owner to replace Hill with another TE

I just happen to be the one who pointed out he was only listed as a QB

Is it bad sportsmanship to put in for him now?

Unless it's a true 2-QB (not Superflex) or team-QB league, I'm not seeing how or why Hill's QB designation is relevant.

Now the TE designation is a whole different issue and could be an absolute game changer if he is either a heavily-used joker position player this year, or somehow gets an unexpected high number of QB snaps. The former shouldn't cause too much drama - that joker role is exactly why some people are hyped on Bowers this year (as a TE); the latter would moreso if Hill became the Saints primary QB somehow and dudes were starting him as their late-round or waiver wire to the fire TE. But even then, I suggest getting over it, especially if he was designated as a TE in your league and you didn't adjust his ranking accordingly this preseason. By now, we all now exactly what kind of wildcard Paysome Taysom is, and if not, you haven't been paying attention, and that is your bad.

This for sure. I did pick up Hill in a league as my backup TE, and if he goes joker, picking up rushing and passing, that would be messed up.....advantage me. In my other league, another savvy owner is likely hoping for the same thing. I don't think loopholes like this are good, especially if they are league altering "cheat code" type things coming from a TE in a bad offense. That guy should NOT be scoring like top level players on the regular.

This is the game I saw the least of, any insight here for the TE desperate?
He got an endzone target that he couldn’t come down with.

Other than that he had 5 carries and broke off a few runs.

Not used at or near the goal line as much as I figured.

In typical Taysom fashion you are just rolling the dice on a blowup game. Which is what you get when you own him.

Something failed to mention, which I had observed but not officially confirmed until a just read a Reddit them on him.

Nearly all of his touches and target came in the first quarter.

Does that mean his usage was being saved for a more competitive game as it was starting to get out of hand? No idea, because they kept pounding Kamara.

Does that mean he was phased out of the game for another reason? No idea again. Williams didn’t get a touch until the game was well out of hand.

Something to think about. Could be a positive for Hill involvement and touches in a closer game.

No idea what to make of it. I’m rolling him out there this week unless I somehow get Likely… but I’m not blowing my FAAB on him so we’ll see.

Good point, game got out of hand fast, Kamara was rested a lot of the 2nd half, no reason to roll your studs out there. In a competitive game, like this week against dallas, I can see Taysom getting a lot more touches.

Funny / sad thing was he was outscored by two other TE's on his own team

Hate having this guy and fall for it every time.

I will cut him this week out of necessity to fill other spots, guarantee he gets a TD and goal line work this weekend.

Not having watched the game, it was certainly discouraging to see that much offensive output, including 2 TE touchdowns, with so little contribution from Hill. It does put things in better context to learn that he basically sat out the second half. I'm still planning to sacrifice him if I can get Likely - and I'll be taking a hard look at Parkinson too.

I don't see this as a horrible pickup if your TE got hurt week 1...

I think he has the same or a better chance to score as any TE on the wire right now
