Ramsey, Russell, or Simms to the Dolphins? (1 Viewer)

whole-show

The Dolphins appear to have lost both of their top two quarterbacks, Chad Henne and Chad Pennington, for the season today. And JaMarcus Russell isn’t the only replacement they’re considering.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that the Dolphins plan to bring in Patrick Ramsey, and they hope to sign him tomorrow. Ramsey, who last played in a game in 2008 with the Broncos and last started a game in 2005 with the Redskins, would likely become the No. 2 quarterback, behind Tyler Thigpen.

Take that kid off the Titans PS that beat Simms out. He's spunky and..he beat Simms out.

I don't see these guys listed as an option. I just don't. They're too bad and the Fins can have anyone just hand it off. I don't see how extreme failure at the NFL level should be revered as NFL experience. I can throw INTs as well as Russell can.

Tyler Thigpen was pretty exciting at times for the Chiefs and what about that Pat White guy they liked just two years ago?

I do agree however I believe White is out of the question, I know he was pursuing baseball and think he was done with football

I'd go Russell if only because at least he has upside. If you are any of these hacks have no chance might as well check out Russell. And yes I know he is fat.

We don't need Purple Drank boy here. He is too busy getting high and eating. I heard on the local radio down here that Jeff Garcia may be a option too.

Lord No. You guys thought Henne was bad--just wait til you see Jafailure. There goes what remains of Brandon Marshall's value going down the drain. :(

I am guessing we will be seeing more of Ronnie and Ricky running the Wildcat too...

Is his UFL contract up? How does that work? Can he just leave mid season to join the NFL?Might be the best "now" option if they really want to make a run at the playoffs.

I guess they can leave. Duante Culpepper is on this list too.

They can't leave until their season is done. I think this is the last regular season week, so players on teams that are out of it can move on to the NFL.

Simms and Russell have got to be the two laziest, least-dedicated quarterbacks on the planet.
When Simms was here in Denver I never got the sense that he lazy or that he wasn't dedicated. I think the exact opposite was true. That said, Simms is a joke of a quarterback and there is no reason for him to be on an NFL roster. The Dolphins would be better off running the Ronnie Brown wildcat the entire game.

Others being mentioned . . .

Colt Brennan to receive a tryout either today or tomorrow

Tommy Grady of Utah Blaze fame also to get a tryout.

Um . . . . . . :X

Testaverde? C'mon...if we are talking Russell and Simms, Testaverde would be a logical option.

Surprised no mention of Nate Davis so far, as he's probably the best QB on a practice squad (and better than the names mentioned in this thread). But, if he can be slow picking up a playbook (as has been reported), then maybe that could scare off a team.

There was a JT O'Sullivan sighting today - they worked him out and thankfully did not sign him.

Henne was spotted at the practice facility waking around without crutches.

J-Fat was interviewed recently and said he didn't know where things went wrong. Sooooo, no.

Thigpen is going to start--not these retreads. I saw this and was worried but then I looked and saw that Thigpen is third string. He shouldn't hurt Miami's production too much.

I think the Dolphins would be more interested in a veteran at this point. Davis is still a major project and has never played in an NFL game.

Is there really no one else out there? I just looked up Frye and Losman and guess they are "taken" (lol), but there has to be something else out there. I don't care who is starting, they need a QB2 immediately.

I get that, but I'm not sure Colt Brennan, Tommy Grady, and Tom Brandstater (to say a few names that have been mentioned) are that much more experienced than Nate Davis.

Just found the following on MSNBC website

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that the Dolphins signed Patrick Ramsey on Monday, as expected. Ramsey is expected to be Tyler Thigpen’s backup when the Dolphins face the Bears on Thursday Night Football. The Dolphins are hopeful Ramsey and possibly Thigpen will get bumped down the depth chart before long. Despite a report in Miami that said Henne was “more than likely” out for the season, Sparano says the team is hopeful Henne will be back sooner than later. Sparano was asked if that report was accurate.“I would say at this particular time that is not accurate,” Sparano said via the Miami Herald.Of course, Sparano isn’t the most forthcoming source. This was his quote on Chad Pennington’s season-ending shoulder injury:“At this particular time it looks like Chad Pennington’s injury is going to be long-term,” Sparano said.Sparano wants to call Henne’s injury “day-to-day” for now. Albert Breer of the NFL Network believes Henne will have a “short term” injury. The question now becomes whether Henne will even get his job back when he’s healthy. If the Dolphins are still in playoff contention, that will have meant that Thigpen helped the team win like he did Sunday against Tennessee.
