Go Duck!

This will be good too if you're at all in general race coverage...Got both my screens up - the tracking page and his plan spreadsheet. Should be fun "watching" this all day. Good luck out there @SFBayDuck!
This is blasphemy, this is madness! Can't even wrap my tiny brain around this concept.Little did he know what he was getting in to - @tri-man 47 will be pacing me from Foresthill (62) to the river crossing (78), all after dark! He's probably in his hotel room right now practicing Jedi mind tricks designed to keep me moving....at least I hope so.
The first 15 miles are supposed to be really sloppy with snow, slush, and mud. We should have lost enough elevation by then to be out of the snow, and of course by the time I hit The Canyons it'll be 110-115. They call it a "Fire and Ice" year, which hasn't happened in awhile.
As always, thank you all for the support. I'll be thinking about it out there tomorrow...and Sunday.
See you on the other side, aka Auburn.

GO DUCK.![]()
Both?Wamsley has put 20 minutes into the field at the 15.8 mile mark. That's a freaking 2 mile lead. Either insanity or beastly.
Same dude that would have had it last year if he hadn't taken a wrong turn at mile 92 right?Leader is burying the field and on a sub 15 hr pace
Yes. Unless he blows up (unlikely), he'll shatter the CR today.Same dude that would have had it last year if he hadn't taken a wrong turn at mile 92 right?
Second place closing in. Third as reporting doaYes. Unless he blows up (unlikely), he'll shatter the CR today.
Next step, swim with others and learn how to draft. It's even more magical when you find another swimmer on your pace and you can throw your hands just off his kick and follow the bubbles. If you can do this and find the guy is on course, you can save a ton of energy by cutting your spotting, at least, in half.ditka...mike ditka said:So I am still not really able to run with my ankle, but did my first open water swim in Lake Michigan today in preparation to attempt my first triathlon. Ill be doing the Olympic distance, probably should of started with a sprint, but I dont always make the best decisions. Anyway, took my wet suit out from under my bed and out of the box it came in since I just purchased it a month ago and havent gone yet. Wanted to set out today and swim 0.5 miles and bike 20. So I did half of the swim portion and 80% of the bike for the race. Anyway, the first 0.15 miles I could not get my breathing right then felt a little better then next 0.10. The last 0.25 on the way back I fell in love with swimming in Lake Michigan. Breathing was synced up like I was in a pool, every other breath I could see Chicagos awesome skyline and I was in the zone. Felt like I could have done another half mile without even thinking about it when I finished, but wanted to be sure I had enough for the bike. Bike was just a typical 20 mile run at a standard pace, so not much to report there, but really excited about how much I enjoyed the swim. One note, I didnt realize how much the wet suit would help. Definitely helps you float higher up on the water making the swim easier than I thought it would be (by no means am I saying its easy though, ha). Anyway, still somewhat on my swim high, so thought I would post. Good luck to everyone with training and races this weekend!
Second has pulled back 1.5 miles.SayWhat? said:Yes. Unless he blows up (unlikely), he'll shatter the CR today.
Lost AS3. Results are going up about 25-30 minutes after they happen.Ultralive tracking seems pretty crappy today.
Yup. Easy section coming up for him so banking time on the cutoff is good. The brutal part will be around 45-55, but temps should be starting to cool then.Looks like he's picked up time on the cutoff time from earlier. That's gotta be good.
Yeah, he's rolling now. Keep it going Duck!Duck has moved up 5 spots. This is about the time he usually starts to make his move. He's basically got an hour on the cutoff now and has gotten back under the 30 hour pace for the first time. He should bank some big time in the next 10 miles.
251 now at mile 38Sean is thru mile 30 at 1:11pm. 255th place. He's gained time on the cutoff.
10:02, his brother seems to have passed him but duck is going strong. 2 minutes off his 30, he will just have to make that up. He's probably done.Nothing on the leader in 1:40 and it's been short segments.
Nice! So when is your next marathon?Go Duck!
I just finished pacing a buddy for 5 laps (almost 24 miles) at the Titletown Ultra 15.5-mile race in Green Bay. Left him with a fresh pacer with about 3.5 hours to go in second place with almost 72 miles done. He should be able to do at least another 15 miles. Leader was fading, so I'm hoping he can catch him.
Thanks! And we'll see. I'm honestly nowhere near ready to race a marathon. Contemplating Milwaukee Lakefront on October 1, but I have to decide if I'm committed enough to endure the drudgery of a 12-week training cycle on the roads. Lakefront does have a Clydesdale division for me to win, so there's that.Nice! So when is your next marathon?
