Ran a 10k - Official Thread (14 Viewers)

254 in at 10:57.  Duck was 264 at the last AS.  should be soon.

paces of the recent arrivals have been from 19-22.  10:58 may have been optimist.

And he's in at 11:04  :excited:

19:05 pace which is perfect.  Duck was in the last AS for 13 min so he's really running at 17 min pace meaning he's strong.  We'll get the departure time and then it will be 5 hours until the next update.

Time out was 11:08.  Duck passed a bunch of people in the AS.

16 miles to the next update.  Anything under 22 min pace beats the cutoff.  I anticipate a 19:30 pace which means a 4:15 am arrival.  That's 7:15 for us east coasters.  Good luck Duck and keep him rolling Triman.

Last one in to Rucky Chucky (mile 78) was about 50 places ahead of Duck and it took him about 2 hours to cover these last two sections.  If it takes Duck the amount of time, he'll roll through at about 4:15am which would be 45 minutes ahead of the cutoff.  Anticipating the 4:15am arrivals get posted at about 4:35am or so.

This is too intense!

18.03 min pace thru Peachstone.  17.8 needed the rest of the way.  Hoping for Duck to gain some ground on this target as the next section is brutal 1.8 mile uphill.

45 minutes to sunrise.  That will be a huge help not having to mess with lights/batteries and being able to speed up on descents.  By this time you're getting sick of staring thru a beam or watching the bouncing light in front of you.

He's through Rucky Chucky at 4:26am, 34 minutes ahead of the cutoff!
Best part is that he hit the required pace to do this.  Needs a 17:45 min/mi pace to the finish.

37 runner's on the next 1.8 mile section.  Amazing that it's packed this tight.

Duck was faster over the last section than the 5 runners in front of him.  He also passed a bunch of people on the last section.  Fly Duck Fly.

I'm anticipating a 5:11 am arrival at the next AS based on a 25 min pace.  Paul Grove just came in with a 22 min pace but that's far above everyone us recently arriving..

The Auburn Lakes Trail cutoff is brutal.  1h20m to cover 6.4 miles or a 14:48 pace.  That's the last cutoff on the course.  Seems strange that cutoff is so tight when you can average 16 min miles from there and still finish.

He crushed that 2 mile climb in 38 minutes!  He has nearly two hours to cover 5.4 miles before the last cutoff.
He's running stronger than virtually all 200 of the remaining runners on the course.   :banned:   That was a key section.

This is awesome.  Just wrapped 10 miles thinking a lot about a run that includes snowy mountain and 100+ degrees. Does not compute.

Go Duck and team.

Needs to average 17:27/mi last 20.4 miles.  Sending positive vibes Duck!  :towelwave:
It's almost impossible to extrapolate his next arrival as the people coming into the next AS had huge leads on Duck and now Duck is putting in 5+ min a mile into them.  He jumped 16 places in just the last 1.8 miles.  This is shaping up like his last 100 where he finished stronger and faster than his early and middle miles.  I can't even begin to express how beastly that last section was.

He's such a beast.  We got to the river at mile 78 at 4:20 am.  Tough. Night. Running.

when he's running, his pace is good.  He'll do this.  More later after some sleep.

6:38 am should be the next arrival time.  22 min in front of the cutoff.

Actually there are other cutoffs, just not listed on Duck's chart.

The last five into Auburn Hills Trails had a pace between 18 and 20 min/mi.  I feel fairly confident Duck is going to smash that.

Looking at the splits of the recent finishers, Duck is on the fastest remaining section.  If you use the rest of the field including the 24 hr finish window as comps, Duck needs to be in the 15-16 min pace range on this section to finish.  Problem is that you can't use the rest of the field because he's running faster than the whole entire field at the moment.

Duck slated to be the 11th next runner in assuming he holds position. I suspect he's one of the next five in

Last girl in ran a 16:39 pace.  Duck was 21 mins behind her so that would put him in at 6:34 am

same, Duck be crazy and awesome. love watching this unfold

Just realized I'll be in Church today for most of his last splits.  Usually I don't look at my phone during service, but I'll make an exception and we'll be sending good vibes his way.

No reports from the field here, yet.  But again, when running, his pace was very good ...maybe 14-15 min/mi pace, and that's in the dead of night.  We averaged about 17-18 min/mi on those legs, I believe.  Now he has an experienced ultra runner and friend with him to the end - and daylight.

We had four legs in our 16 miles from 11:20 pm to 4:20 am.  He ran nicely through three of them, and struggled with the other - couldn't eat solids, and was too low on energy.  When running, yeah, we passed runners.

the whole concept of passing runners, WS qualifying runners, after mile 80 is amazing.

While the athletic side of this alone is amazing, the mathy, mental and strategic side is what makes this so ####### mind blowing.
You should heard some of geeky calculations going on in the middle of the night.  Duck probably kept running just to get the hell away from me.

Quarry rd cutoff is 8:40am. No problem

duck needs a 17:20 pace the rest of the way to first.
