I just ran an easy 8 in Iowa.  13 degrees with windchill at 0.  

As usual, the first mile was cold but then got in the rhythm.

Thankfully i fly home tonight.

Unfortunately a busy travel week before my ultra on Saturday.  

NY -> Delaware ( @Ned ) -> NY -> PA -> Maryland (race)

 
20M in 2:16:11. Pace 6:49. Est: 2:58:32. ETA: 10:44 AM.

Final 10K to go. Bring it home!!

No negative split. Miles 6-8 and 10-13 were into a brisk wind. (Which means 5 miles were with the wind but let's not dwell on that)

But yes, my goal was to be in the low 90s. Maybe next year I'll have to break 90.

Good luck @Zasada. I couldn't be in Vegas during a football Sunday and stay sober all day, so I think you got me beat there. Hope the race goes well. That race has a fun vibe.

No puking yet, but pretty drunk and had my first ice cream sandwich sitting at the bar. Things could turn ugly soon, feeling no pain.

Seeing a local HM measured over a mile short yesterday and the 10k was .5m long.  People are salty. 

Apparently mile 9 and 10 were .15m apart.  :loco:

0.1m misses are frustrating, but in smaller races I'm not going to #####. Limited resources, so it's easy to be off a nudge or two. That's just egregious though. Recipe for the race to fold up shop. 

 
Got the playlist set up.  My tastes can be juvenile but I like me my EDM.

Opening with an appropriately-titled song for this.  Also happens to be the same song I opened with the first time I ever ran 5K a year ago.

Most of the middle are my favourite EDM songs.

Then I saved my most ###-kicking angry songs for the 1:45 to 2:00 mark (bolded), when I'll need the most help.

If I get to "I Cry" then I'll be crying because that's then over 2 hours.

Ended up racing after all at the Polish Independence 10K this morning in Chicago. Ran 39:54 (6:26/mile), good for 10th overall and 2nd in my AG. Not bad for a week post-marathon! If not for the 5-6 G&Ts and shot of Jamo last night, I prob would've been even faster....

Ran in the back of a 4-man pack the last several miles. The guys in front were doing the hard work and breaking the wind, so I figured I could outsprint them at the end and move up to 7th. Unfortunately they had the same idea...

 
HFS 1:47:37. I can't believe it. 

Will post more later. Trying to not barf. Just wanted to say thanks to all you BMFs with your encouragement and advice. You guys rock.
