Yup...hanging strong through the tough part. Hoping he has that reserve he was talking about. He's holding up fairly well through these hills.
Let's hope for a sub 8 for SC here.about 10 minutes away from Gru's next update, SC should have an update in about a min.
Unfortunately can't speak from experience, but I've done more reading about it then I care to admit - and there's so much action at this race that you don't notice.for those who have run this race before, is it mentally taxing to run on essentially the same road for that long??

Yeah, I didn't remember that.Unfortunately can't speak from experience, but I've done more reading about it then I care to admit - and there's so much action at this race that you don't notice.
Not at all. The environment changes a lot along the way. The first half runs in and out of small towns, each with its own unique dynamic. Wellesley girls near the half. Mile 16 really gets into Boston proper with a turn at the fire station, followed by the hill sequence over the next five miles (capped with the crazies at Boston College). A turn after that leads to the final miles heading toward the Citgo sign and, then, the turns to the finish.for those who have run this race before, is it mentally taxing to run on essentially the same road for that long??
He's battling, 7:30 pace between the 21 miles and 35k.Next SC update should be at 1:08pm.
Like Gru, he sped up to, just not as much. That said, he's back on pace for sub 3:15He's battling, 7:30 pace between the 21 miles and 35.
Avatar is moving based on past pace, not current pace. Stops at checkpoints until you cross them.tracking grue here and his runner avatar has stopped moving at the 40k mark
website glitch??
Indeed. He left it all out there today.Gru is at 25.2, 10:56 pace. Feel for him on this sufferfest.
Yeah, I just googled marathon jokes and they're all bad.Marathons are no joke.
This. Having experienced both ends of the marathon spectrum, what he is doing today is far more impressive than any PR. To continue and grind out miles when your body has nothing left is damn impressive.Indeed. He left it all out there today.
How do you know if someone is running a marathon?Yeah, I just googled marathon jokes and they're all bad.
I will give this suggestion some serious consideration then ultimately not follow through.Enjoy the last half hour of not working guys. You better get productive in the afternoon.
Because they won't stop telling you.How do you know if someone is running a marathon?
Yep - I remember reading similar comments when I imploded at Columbus 2.5 years ago. My avatar stood still at mile 20 for at least 15 mins iirc.Avatar is moving based on past pace, not current pace. Stops at checkpoints until you cross them.
3:16:41, looks like he put the pedal down going for broke after the hills but just couldn't make it to the line before hitting a rough patch. Probably left a few seconds out there chasing the pr - and (correctly) has zero regrets about doing so.@SteelCurtain in with a last mile of 7:34. Strong finish on a tough day.
