Looking at the people that ran both last year and this year, it looks like everyone is about 15 minutes slower.  Either the course changed or the started late and did adjust the timer.

Ooooh, I've got some fun stuff to add.  As of right now, it's shaping up to be a busy spring.  Honestly contemplating not "racing" at all, but we'll see how it goes in Indy...

3/1 - Atlanta Half Marathon

4/4 - Carmel???

4/20 - Boston (I think I found some friends getting an Airbnb who'll let me stay with them for $100/night and use the sofa sleeper)

5/3 - Prague

5/10 - Lublin (Poland)

Just noticed another gap of 20 minutes between 68th and 69th place and then 58 people with a time of 2:14.  They are posting splits in batches based on the time submitted.  You can basically ignore any times coming from split 1.

Added my return to the Houston Marathon.  When I got to the "goal" section, I paused.

I told myself this was going to be a fun run.  I was done with trying to run street marathons for time.

But I would still like to PR.

Hmph.

New leader at the second split.  1st and 2nd came in at 2:51.  Actually may not be a new leader as he didn't post split at AS1.  Times are on par with 2nd and 3rd from last year at this split.  Say What's next update will be in 45-50 minutes.

You can "have fun" drinking beer and watching football and save the expense and work of the race.

Interesting, made up time, lost positioning.

Based on Say's previous results, he tends to yo-yo in the first half of the race before getting into a consistent groove.

Last year say spent 25 min at the as at mile 25. Not sure how to factor that in going forward. He’s basically captured the time improvement he was looking for and just needs to hit Last year’s splits to meet his goal time

The leader just hit the halfway mark out eight hours and 41 minutesThe leader just hit the halfway mark out eight hours and 41 minutes

About 20 minutes away from a say update. The leader has a 40 minute lead over second place

Say could be well ahead of that time because there was a 40 min gap in the times reported

Slowing down a little, but still ahead of last year. Get you some @SayWhat?

Dudes from the bulk batch prior to Says batch at the last AS are coming into the next AS. 20-40 minutes for news????

Strange. Saw Say listed at 32nd then 42nd then 32nd.
They're reporting them in groups with chunks of them having the same time at the aid station - he was the first of 14 with the same time at mile 51.2. So you'd think they'd have the order right at least, but they might not.

11:00 PM his time now so he's heading into that unknown of running through the night without a pacer.  But this is a big enough race that I'd bet he's with other runners most of the time, which should help.

In any case, he's still crushing it.  I can only wish to know what it feels like to be in the top 10% of a 100M race field :bag:

He was listed first and then minutes later listed last in that group then it switched back to first.  You can see where I edited my post but Triman had already quoted me.

In at 15:08 in 32nd place and only in a grouping of 4 so these are fairly accurate placements.

15:32 - Crosby Manitou (62.9) actual time was 15:08.  Gain sometime back on his goal in the section.  Stay strong through the night Say.

T-minus 42 hours to takeoff.  Superior 100 starts Friday morning.  Coming off my best month of training and relatively healthy as Friday nears.  Just trying not to have a huge stress/anxiety energy dump this week (but failing miserably), as life is out of control bonkers with the kid starting school, work requirements, and this race.  If anyone gets bored on Friday/Saturday, feel free to follow along with live tracking here.

Previous times at this one were 27:22 in 2016 and 27:04 last year.  I'm not "trained" well, but I'm fit.  If I'm being honest, I'm going to be extremely disappointed if I don't hit 26:XX, and mid 26 or faster would be ideal.  But I guess ultimate goal is to get 8 tickets into the Western States bucket, and I've got 38 hours ( :X ) to do that.  Weather looks near ideal with temps currently forecast between 48-65 degrees with a very low chance of rain (though rain is forecast tomorrow so the course may be wet).

With temps looking favorable, the key may be how well I get through the Beaver Bay to County Road 6 stretch between miles 20 to 44.  It's got some pretty decent climbs and typically they're right in the mid day heat with some exposed ridgeline running.  Last year I struggled badly and spent almost 25 minutes in the Silver Bay aid station at Mile 25.  In order to hit my goal, I think I'm going to need to get into the halfway point at Finland having shaved some time off of last year's 12:03.  From there I'll be heading into the night pacerless for the first time ever, and that's where the mental battle will begin to keep pushing hard.  Pretty sure my wife will be bringing me home from Oberg to the Finish, so that will serve as motivation through the night.  I'll also be motivated immensely by all the glory that will undoubtedly be heaped upon me from my internet running friends following my mid-pack finish.  :lmao:

And finally, if you have 5-10 minutes this here is a pretty awesome course description by section with pictures.

Giddy up!
Bump for this page.
