Do some jumping jacks or something. Get that coffee pot ‘a brewin’!My morning dump was unsatisfying, what a week![]()
Mine seems to be a failure as well.My morning dump was unsatisfying, what a week![]()
Yeah, St Louis is all bass-ackwards that way. Surprised they didn’t set it up as a 1.13 race. And happy St Patrick's day.
Surprised they didn't go with Valentine's day today.
Had some coffee and a second shot at it...moved from a 2/10 to a 6/10. Overall, we are in the OK territory. About to go for a run...thanks coach!Do some jumping jacks or something. Get that coffee pot ‘a brewin’!
Not so joyful racejoy appI believe @gianmarco should have started? 8:30 local time start so 9:30 ET? App is giving me nothing as I try to find out how our hero is doing.
Anyone else having this issue?
IIRC this is the same app one of my marathon's used and tracking for it was an abomination. Not so joyful racejoy app
Iggy should have blamed the appIIRC this is the same app one of my marathon's used and tracking for it was an abomination.
Didn't happen if it's not on Strava (for the Mrs)Awesome training half today in Creve Coeur, Mo. I used it as a training run and came in at 1:52 ish.
Mrs Gian rocked it - 1:45:45!!
7:25 for the last mile! Awesome stuff Mrs. @gianmarco. I hate you @ChiefD.Ok....shtick over.
Was having some fun as @ChiefD was coming into town and decided last minute to run the race with us. We had so many options that we went through to figure how to shtick it up and having him pace my wife was what we ultimately decided.
Anyway, as you can see on Strava, he ended up running with us. I'm posting mine now as well. 3 of us ran together for most of the race. I stayed with my wife for 10 miles, slightly faster than 8:15, and then she decided she was feeling good and crushed the final 5K. I felt great for the first 10 miles and my legs were a little tired at the end and just wasn't interested in entering the pain cave so I just held on just a little faster and finished fine.
As mentioned, her final time was 1:45:43, good for 3rd in her AG and last 3 miles all faster at 7:57, 7:30, and 7:25. I came in at 1:46:33, good for 10th in my AG and felt good. Chief finished a little afterward but was awesome hanging with us to start and we got to chat for the first several miles which made it awesome.
Absolutely beautiful day to be outside, winds got a little tough miles 8-10, but overall nothing to complain about. My wife is thrilled and got all the reassurance and confidence she needed.
Awesome, now convince her the goal for Jack and Jill is too soft.
Good luck and if I dont hear back from you I will avenge your death.
Just try to convince her to go for 3:42 or so. This way she has some contingency to work with the last few miles for when things inevitably start falling apart over the last few miles.![]()
All she needs is the BQ. 3:45:00 should get her there (3:50:00 - 5 min correction). She can get past mile 20 and go crazy if she wants, but 8:35 pace is what she's doing from 1-20.
I do not like this “banking time” idea. Not at all.Just try to convince her to go for 3:42 or so. This way she has some contingency to work with the last few miles for when things inevitably start falling apart over the last few miles.
It isn't banking time. It's running to your fitness instead of an arbitrary number.I do not like this “banking time” idea. Not at all.
If she stays consistent with her training and keeps building mileage, I think she can run 3:45 without a bonk. I know it’s not PC to say, but it’s a lot easier for women to qualify than men.It isn't banking time. It's running to your fitness instead of an arbitrary number.
I think it takes multiple efforts to know what you need to do in order to prevent yourself from bonking. The first time through is a leap of faith. If she stays consistent with her training and keeps building mileage, I think she can run 3:45 without a bonk.
100% true though. My wife's goal wasn't quite to BQ standards, but the fact that it was close given her history is ridiculous.I know it’s not PC to say, but it’s a lot easier for women to qualify than men.
Did 10+ today and it felt better...like my typical end of week long run. The second half felt better than the first.Yeah...today was the tail end of back-to-back unproductive runs, with a V02 Max drop.
I'm taking tomorrow off and I'm thinking of doing easy runs Saturday and Sunday...maybe just one long run.
You'll be rested and ready to eff up that interval workout.Did 10+ today and it felt better...like my typical end of week long run. The second half felt better than the first.
My training status is still unproductive. I'm not exactly sure how that is calculated, but I'm guessing it's still mainly a carryover from my runs on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm taking tomorrow off, putting me at 10 fewer miles this week than last and 6-7 fewer than the prior weeks. Back at it next week.
Hopefully this drop in mileage gets me back in the right direction...but my first workout is a 4x1.5 at hmp-10 (likely monday) which I'm a little worried about after all this.
I know that I've been aggressive on my goal for this training...and several workouts have been a challenge, and if this next one sucks, it's going to mess with me more mentally than physically (I know I can readjust, but I also know how I will react).
Time to buckle in and push forward.
Good luck tomorrow! Really excited to see this one.**realizes brony will be judging my tank top and gloves tomorrow**

Cuomo just declared state of emergency for NY. New cases popping up in the city. From nyrr just now:
On the continued recommendation of the NYC Health Department, there have been no major scheduling changes to any of our events and programs, including the United Airlines NYC Half. We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing situtation and encourage all runners to respect others by following appropriate health guidelines while ensuring they are well enough to participate.
What are you going to wear for the race?**realizes brony will be judging my tank top and gloves tomorrow**
