Ran a 10k - Official Thread (11 Viewers)

So now that my triathlons are also postponed/cancelled for this year, I have only two items on the agenda:

1) Paris Marathon in October, new target race with nothing else going on

2) Destroy Team Juxt and his merry band of infidels

I haven't officially signed up yet, but any chance that you'd be able to run Monumental with @gruecd, @Juxtatarot, and I?
I'm not giving any real thought to what's next until sometime after a return to normalcy. And even then I'll be preparing for another wave of this thing. But I will say this - there's a full around here about the same time as Indy. If it's a choice of one or the other then I'll do Indy.

Just finished writing out a tentative plan for this virtual race series and a HM in the hills June 7. Even if that race also gets whacked I think this plan will benefit this virtual series anyway.

For you, it's a trap!  We don't want you bulking up before the races -- don't do anything @gruecd or the rest of that bumbling bunch suggests.
Yeah, wouldn't want you guys to actually have some upper body strength to help you maintain good form when you start to get tired...

I'm in. I had been doing the @belljr push up challenge before - had kind of leveled off at 30 a day. I'm up for an additional challenge! Need to also do more sit-ups and/or planking.

Ran by the same runner I see sometimes on my usual route this morning.  It was 70F with a 68F dewpoint, and while I was a sweaty mess, he was running shirtless.  Made me jealous.  Not of how buff he was (NTTAWWT), rather that I can't run shirtless for fear of being forcibly interned in some eating disorder facility.

Can't wait until today's 70/68 weather becomes 90/85 in July... ugh.

!! ATTENTION !!

The official unofficial seeding qualifiers will be tomorrow.  For every FBG Strava participant I will be taking the best 400m time from each of your runs tomorrow.  If you do not have a specific .25 mile time, I will be taking your best mile and estimating from there.  If you choose to not run tomorrow, you will be given a DNP.  These times will be used to seed you in the official unofficial qualifiers.  There is no additional information to provide at this time.

Thank you,

Management

So I should set my watch to autolap every 400 meters?

Edit: or .25 miles?

I'm doing a hill repeat/tempo workout, which is substantially more difficult than what you're demanding we do. So, I reject your DNP and simultaneously give your estimates based on fastest mile the finger.

Yep, that seals it. I'm riding on the trainer tomorrow.

Not that I see you ChicagoGuys run there much, but this sucks for those who do:

Yup.  People just not complying.  It's cool to have all those miles along the lakefront ...but that's kind of all they have.  Scroll down and you'll see the "606" trail ...a converted, 3 mile rail bed that runs through the near west neighborhoods (and driving up property values).  I'm in the first suburb west of the city, and I've got miles of near-empty streets all around me.  Heading over the arboretum on Saturday, weather permitting.

Bensenville?  I was in Wood Dale when I lived there.

@Dr_Zaius I get that most of our competition is on the IR, but you're nearing 48 hours without a run. Get out there!!!
Was out there when you posted this 😎

My employer is still trying to meet all of our previous schedules despite a lot of people having to work from home, so I've got a lot of skype meetings and other foofaraw during the day.

@BassNBrew

I picked up the knee bra. A bit aggravated as the closest spot which had one was 15 minutes away, it was hidden behind a different brace on the shelf, finally found it after a few minutes of searching, got home and then saw someone stuffed a regular knee wrap in the box so had to waste another 45 minutes driving there and back and swapping it out.

Anyway, it's on, and about to go out and give it a shot. If this works, I'll forever be indebted BassNBra.

If it doesn't.......

Well, partial success.

The knee bra helped a little, I think. I think it stabilized it enough to keep it from worsening too much. I made it pretty tight at one point and it helped a little more but not enough to eliminate it. Just helped confirm that's likely what it is.

Good news is it wasn't that bad at all today and didn't feel it until close to a mile. Considering what it was like yesterday, I'm really thankful for that. I had no pain all day today either.  I'm positive a week off will get this right.

If any of you see me post a run this week, please let me know how big of an idiot I am.

We're not allowed to park at the trailheads and I have been busy with quarter end so can't get out for a run long enough to run to the trails, so today was day two of running on roads around the house.  Even ordered another pair of road shoes today.  It's like I don't even know who I am anymore......
