What is your nutrition plan for tomorrow? I was reading your Monumental Marathon race report and saw that you ate 2 bananas during the race. Are you going to do something similar?
I ate a banana late in race at Monumental because they were handing them out at an aid station.  London is not doing that.

Plan is banana with Gatorade prior to race.

Mile 4-5 - shot bloks

Mile 9-10 - banana (I’ll carry this one.  Will eat at mile 4-5 if sick of carrying it.)

Mile 14 - Maurten

Mile 19 - Maurten caffeinated

Mile 23 - shotblok or two.

Obviously may change a bit on the fly.  I’ll have to see.

Picking up our hero at just about mile 19. The half split is showing 1:36 which is slightly higher than wanted. He’s dropping his avg pace per plan and predicted for a pr.

5k splits are coming down and he’s about to the empty the tank portion of the plan. Buckle up racefans we’re coming in for a landing.

The plan is to do mile 1 at 7:45 pace.  Mile 2 at 7:30 pace.  Then get into my race pace.  Get to the half at 1:34:40 to 1:35:00.  Then run a 7:15 pace to mile 21-22.   After that, go empty the tank and see what I've got in me.
Yeah. He's right on target.

Math isn't my strong suit pre coffee, but I think that was right on schedule. Plan's to then pick it up. This is kinda awesome sipping the first cup of joe watching the end of a race rather than the beginning.

A man with a plan.

It's been seriously amazing and inspiring watching @SteelCurtain train these last months. Seeing the mileage tick up and then seeing him take those SoS runs and flat out punch them in da mowf. Throw in how insane the last week has been for him and he still executed to perfection...just a BMF. :tebow:

Seriously, what @gianmarco said about nailing a PR in the middle of (British: “amidst”) all that’s going on …including a flight across the pond.

The ability to turn on the jets at the end of a friggin’ marathon is so impressive and inspiring.  Way to go!!!!!

Hey gents……

Thanks so much for your support.  Thought of you out there.  This was honestly much more challenging mentally than I thought it would be.

i got a 2 and a half minute PR but I have more in me.  But it is what it is. Some were within my control while others were not.

I’ll explain more tomorrow or Tuesday.  For now, i need to shower, grab lunch and drink some beer.

Slacker.

Week 11

50.3 miles on 5 runs - just under 7 1/2 hours.  Took unplanned Friday off flying home and rainy morning and I didn’t want more wet clothes and lazy.

Planned curveball week with a pleasure trip to Austin and full intent to hit 3 scheduled SoS sessions this week. My hobbies are basically running, eating and (less than before) drinking. More miles spent on a scooter (Bird > all others) than I ran as we were all over the city hitting restaurants and drink spots. Austin totally delivered.

M - 5x1000 - little tougher for me to get speed going on dirt trails lining Colorado River. Sweet place to run and people are young and fit here making great use of the climate, locale and athletic apparel.

Th - 8 mile progression to probably sub HM if I’m guessing. This was fun to press down on in a new setting.

Sat -  back home 14 mile long run with last 2 at pace. Yada yada’d this pretty well in a good way, got squeezed a bit with first morning back with da kids and a soccer game.

It was a bit tougher to be boring with training this week but got it there.

As of now, looking like a bit of shift to SoS days this week and intentionality will be with me throughout.

Ordered a bunch of roctane and salt tab chew things to pepper in ahead of race day.  Also hit up the Sept 2022 Berlin marathon lottery along with like xxx, xxx others.

Onward!

@SteelCurtain congrats on a great race yesterday.  Really impressed on how you executed your plan.

Apologies for the late posting, but I was at Lambeau yesterday watching my Packers handle your Steelers.  Big Ben is one tough SOB, but it's woefully apparent that his time has come...
