These never end well. The idea makes sense...MOR!!!! but the maintenance, transport, etc just never works out. History is littered with these huge monstrosities that just never got off the ground. The US military is looking to build a massive seaplane
That would be a beast.
Also, had not ever seen the Lun pictured in the article. Insane looking machine!
Right?? Probably why there was only one Lun.These never end well. The idea makes sense...MOR!!!! but the maintenance, transport, etc just never works out. History is littered with these huge monstrosities that just never got off the ground.
Also, it seems like they'd be a huge and somewhat easy target to take out, thus rendering them kind of pointless. El Floppo said:
That is amazing!Abandoned Soviet Space Shuttles in Kazakhstan desert
Video journey
Sorry if this has made the rounds in here already, just came across my radar. Apparently when Mother Russia went belly up the space shuttle program didn't make the cut so in typical Soviet fashion, they walked away from the facility and left behind two, intact, space shuttles. That's my narrative anyhow. I watched a different video but they are all pretty much the same, you have to walk 20 miles into the desert to reach the facility becomes it's still patrolled on a regular basis.

‘Extremely active’ jumping worms that can leap a foot raise alarm in California
An invasive worm species known for its “voracious appetite” and ability to jump a foot (30cm) in the air is raising alarm in California, where scientists have expressed concerns about the threat the worms pose to forest ecosystems.
Time to import more birds?
I almost specifically put robins.I've got an army of robins in my neighborhood that would love to get their beaks on them.
I have a couple in my yard that I enjoy watching go after bugs and worms. They get quite vicious. Was just coming in to post this.VIDEO: Germany's Sebastian Steudtner is the new record holder for the biggest wave ever surfed.

I always find these videos disingenuous. Only because they simply don't do justice to the size of the wave. To me it's looks like a surfer catching a wave. Maybe a slightly larger than average wave but it's hard to judge from the camera angles. I think about going to anything 100' high and looking down. I don't get that sinking feeling watching one of these videos. Seems like it detracts from the event and I feel like this is a huge deal. Was just coming in to post this.
But I thought some guy from NC caught a 100'er fairly recently. Maybe without proper documentation.
have you considered that you might be insane?I always find these videos disingenuous. Only because they simply don't do justice to the size of the wave. Every.Single.Dayhave you considered that you might be insane?![]()
I see those waves from Nazare with a human on it for scale... and holy #### -I freak out every time.
maybe we're just getting desensitized to them a bit.. but disingenuous?
maybe?Every.Single.Day
Disingenuous only to the wave rider, I think it's an incredible feat and it scares the bejesus out of me to even think about it. The problem my garbled mind has is I see a dude on a board surfing a wall of water. I have little or no perspective on the height of the wave. Show me a zoomed out view with a 5 story building in it so I have some perspective. Superimpose the Empire State building with King Kong hanging on it so I can judge the badassery I am witnessing and appreciate it that much more.
Is that too much to ask?
Does this help?Every.Single.Day

Many may not know how big this news is but its HUGE.Scientists May Have Found a Way to Inject Oxygen Into The Bloodstream Intravenously
Scientists have found a way to inject oxygen directly into the bloodstream. The new technique works by channeling an oxygen-laden liquid through a series of nozzles that get smaller and smaller. The bubbles end up smaller than red blood cells, so they won't block blood vessels. These bubbles are coated with a lipid membrane before being added to blood. The technique was able to lift blood oxygen saturation levels in mice from 15% to over 95% in just a few minutes. The technique is still a proof of concept and has yet to be tested on people.
This is good news. Maybe one day they can grow me a second eye.Woman receives 3D-printed ear made from her own cells
Doctors successfully transplanted a 3D-printed ear made from human cells onto a woman born with a rare ear deformity, 3DBio Therapeutics, the regenerative medicine company behind the implant announced today in a press release. The transplant was part of the first clinical trial of the technology, and its success marks a major step forward for tissue engineering.
love this concept. The world's carbon dioxide battery is here and needs only steel and water

Adding to the random/funniness of this... leading theory is that it's someone wearing one of four stolen "furry" suits that were taken a few months ago.
Did you also happen to play Dig Dug?Here is something that happened to me yesterday. I'm going to copy/paste the post I made on Facebook with just a couple of basic edits for here. I'm still reeling from it. What a small world.
Backstory: Back in the late 80’s/early 90’s, I worked at my parents bookstore in the local mall. Whenever I could, I stole away to the arcade to play video games. Air hockey was a favorite of mine. There was a guy named Cosmo who worked at the pizza place in the mall who I would play with all the time. In fact, at least twice a week, Cosmo would come to the bookstore and yell out “Hastur! Come play hockey!”. lol – it was not a request. It was a DEMAND! He and I had a great air hockey rivalry going for a long time.
Fast forward to today: I go into a new pizza place that opened near me(living in South Carolina now), always interested in capturing my youthful memories of the pizzeria in the mall. I’m sitting there eating a spinach white pizza(absolutely delicious btw) talking to the wife of the husband/wife team that owns the place. When she heard I was from Vineland, she said she graduated from the high school one town over! I said “We must have met at least once before. If you ever bought a book in the local mall, I might have sold it to you. My family owned the bookstore!”. She says to hold on a minute, and disappears. Out comes her husband, Cosmo! Many handshakes and shared memories told later, he swears he’s going to get an air hockey table and put it in the restaurant and he’s gonna kick my butt!
I have no doubt about that. He always kicked my butt at air hockey. He played like it was a contact sport!
As good as he is at air hockey, it doesn't come close to how good he is at making pizza! Carmela's Pizzeria on Wade Hampton in Taylors has the best pizza 100 miles in any direction!
I love Studs n Duds. I look forward to his posts.
Ha! My theory (prior to seeing this) was that it was a crackhead wearing a coyote pelt. I may not have been far off!Adding to the random/funniness of this... leading theory is that it's someone wearing one of four stolen "furry" suits that were taken a few months ago.

However, This isn't shtick. This actually happened. It has been over 24 hours, and I am still reeling from it.
