Random movie "aha" moment (1 Viewer)

Caught Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country this weekend.

The Federation President, the guy with the long white hair and mustache, is played by Kurtwood Smith, Red from That 70s Show.

Smith was a veteran character actor/bad guy before landing the gig as Red (Dead Poet's Society, Robocop, Rambo III, etc.). He also played a time-traveling bad guy on an episode of Star Trek: Voyager (the guy who blows up planets to erase them from the space-time continuum).

I just remembered that Charlie Sheen was in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, in a great little role now seen as more truth than fiction.

That spot reminds me of Pitt in True Romance.

2 i had recently -

Jane Krakowski - the blond on 30 Rock, Ally McBeal was Cousin Eddie's daughter in Vacation.

You know "Daddy says I kiss the best"....

My other not really an aha but

Summer Rental came out in 1985

One Crazy summer 1986

BOTH had boat races at the end as a main plot point. I never noticed the "stealing of script" like Armageddon/Deep Impact before

One Crazy Summer was on the other day and Jeremy Piven is the guy swallowing Odie's tongue on the boat just before the race.Yahoo last week had an article on Nicole Kidman in the 1983 movie BMX Bandits

This thread has been around for a while so my apologies if this has already been mentioned. Was watching A League of Their Own over the weekend and Tea Leoni showed up briefly as a batter for the Racine team. I don't think she had a line and you had to look fast.

Had one of these yesterday. Watching 8 mile, I realized that Greg (Mother's boyfriend) is Agent Van Alden (Michael Morrison) in Boardwalk Empire.

Not sure if this was mentioned - Watched the original True Grit the other day. Didn't realize that Mattie Ross was played by the same gal who was Lane's Mom in Better Off Dead.

In the beginning of The Professional, the drug dealer that is in the hotel, meets up with a young prostitute. She later walks out while Leon is holding a knife to the dealer's throat.

She is the blue opera diva from The Fifth Element.

:bowtie:

Here's an aha moment for me. If you turn off Fight Club before the end it's a really crappy movie. If you wait to the end then you understand all the hype:lmao:
Here's a Fight Club trivia moment. In the final scene with all the high rise buildings blowing up, they are all Fox owned buildings. None of the actual financial institutions would give permission for their buildings to get destroyed (Starbucks as well earlier in the film) so they superimposed their own buildings in there. Including a building previously blown up in Die Hard, the Nakatomi Building (just across the street from the Fox Studios).

I didn't realize for a long time that Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) was the six-fingered man in The Princess Bride.
Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) is in this crime drama, Criminal Minds my wife watches (and I watch because she's always watching re-runs of it) I didn't realize it was him until he was on screen and my wife goes: "my name is Inigo Montoya, you keelled my father, prepare to die."

I'm an idiot I didn't realize this....
And he was Detective Sam Francisco in Alien Nation (movie).

I need to confirm this and IMDB does NOT.

However watching Bachelor Party last night (personal favorite) - I swear one of the cops that carts off the short guys handcuffed to the tranny is Johnathan Lithgow

This guy also apparently plays some part in Elmo in Grouchyland....a character named Huxley.I only know this because I have a friend who is obsessed with the idea that I look exactly like this Huxley character.
On a random Saturday, my 2YO is in her room watching Elmo in Grouchland for the 100th time, my wife was rewatching a random Criminal Mind episode in her room and my 6YO and I were watching The Princess Bride in the living room. I yell out, "Thank God for Mandy Patinkin, if I ever meet him I'm going to tell him about this day." My wife just rolled her eyes. :bag:

:lmao: Lithgow was pulling in some pretty big roles by 1984. Not sure he'd be playing a faceless/nameless cop in "Bachelor Party".

I know that's why I doubt it is him but I need to get a freeze frame...

Maybe it's from the lack of sleep from having a 13 day old infant in the house, but while watching the first Austin Powers on TV this weekend, two "Seinfeld" character actors make appearaces:

Blackjack Dealer ("I suggest you hit, sir") is also the Soup Nazi.

UN Secretary that Dr. Evil makes his "One Million Dollars" demand to is Babu Bhatt.

There are probably more that I missed but the smell of Similac probably prevented it.

:bag:

I was watching Halloween, the newer one from a few years ago that Rob Zombie directed. Michaels older sister who he kills early in the movie looked familiar so I looked it up on Wiki. It was young Jenny from Forrest Gump all growed up. She shows some boob action. Looks they haven't grown since they stopped production on Forrest Gump.

Punch your friend because thats not nice. I've seen this movie as my daughter (3) loves this movie. The character Huxley needs an eyebrow tweeze really bad.

Fight Club sucks whether you watch it to the end or not.

I just realized that the guy who played Charlie Sheen in Wall Street is the same guy who played Tom Cruise in A Few Good Men.

Harold and Kumar is a great AHA movie.

Freakshow was played by Christopher Meloni of Law and Order: SVU, and his hot ### wife was Malin Ackerman from Watchmen.

Is this the thread where people realize that actors try to make a living by getting more than one role in their careers?

The movie "Grown-Ups" has been HBO all month.

Rob Schneider's much older wife, is the same actress (Joyce Van Patten) who played the administrator of the Little League in "Bad News Bears".

This is more of a 'weird Hollywood connection' than an 'a-ha' moment...

Mindy Cohen(Natalie from Facts of Life) is the Godmother to a couple of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt children.

Its what it has turned into. I believe it started more as an AHA I get it moment but now its just an extended IMDB listing.

Stelios in 300 is the same guy that played the British spy that got outed in Inglorious Basterds. Also had a role as a bad guy in Jonah Hex.

Watched Rock Star again tonight for probably the 10th time, and for the first time noticed that the guitarist in the Steel Dragon cover band and at the end of the movie is Timothy Olyphant. Big jump from that role to Deadwood/Justified.

Also realized the tour manager is Peter Pettigrew in the Harry Potter movies.
