Random movie "aha" moment (1 Viewer)

Toby from American Splendor- the "special needs" fellow who liked Jelly Bellys and Revenge of the Nerds- was Judah Friedlander, the guy on 30 Rock with the hats.

thinking about sgt. hulka thread, it only occurred to me last night that warren oates played hulka in "stripes". i never really connected oates in a comedy for some reason.
I think that's what made his role so good, Oates played it straight in the middle of a comedy.
I remember him fro 1975's Race with The Devil, which scared the crap out of me when I was young.

I just looked it up and there was a Fonda in there also. I don't remember him from the movie.

:coffee: Did not know that.
He also played Generals Pickett and Stonewall Jackson in Gettysburg and Gods & Generals respectively.

I didn't realize for a long time that Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) was the six-fingered man in The Princess Bride.
Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) is in this crime drama, Criminal Minds my wife watches (and I watch because she's always watching re-runs of it) I didn't realize it was him until he was on screen and my wife goes: "my name is Inigo Montoya, you keelled my father, prepare to die."

I'm an idiot I didn't realize this....

In The Big Lebowski, Asia Carrera is the girl who stars with Bunny in

.In Four Rooms, the misbehaving kid turns on a porn channel when his parents leave (Antonio Banderas and someone else). The woman dancing on the porn channel is actually Salma Hayek.

Was watching "Airplane" the other night...the scene where Captain Oveur is talking to the "Mayo Clinic" on the white courtesy phone...

I noticed that the shelves behind the doctor are all stocked with jars of Mayonnaise .... :goodposting:

This guy also apparently plays some part in Elmo in Grouchyland....a character named Huxley.I only know this because I have a friend who is obsessed with the idea that I look exactly like this Huxley character.

Emile Hirsch - probably movies no one has seen but is the skater tough guy in Lords of Dogtown and the neighbor from "The Girl next Door"

Just saw both recently again, didn't realize that was him in either

Did you know that the hat Reiner was wearing throughout Tap is hanging in Fred Savage's bedroom in Princess Bride?
Awesome!
Is it the same one? what was the one in Tap - USS Doral Sea or something like that.BTW, Tufnel, you are a disgrace to your namesake/avatar

Cool link. And they got it exactly right with Full Metal Jacket. I've always thought it was awesome that Ermey as technical advisor essentially said to Kubrick, "Here, watch how it's done," and got the part. My father, who was in the Marine Corps, has told me that there were indeed times that the DI's would say some fall-off-your-chair hilarious ####, but God help you if you laughed.

While watching "Love Actually", just realized that Andrew Lincoln who has the crush on Kiera Knightley, is Rick Grimes in "The Walking Dead"

Caught a little bit of The Commitments for the first time since it first came out... had no idea Glenn Hansard (The Swell Season and Once, the movie) was the guitar player in the band.

:goodposting: There are a lot of actors from that movie (one of my favorites) that pop up all over. Most recently I have seen Maria Doyle Kennedy as the nanny in Dexter and of corse COlm Meany has been in near every TV series out there in the last 15 years.

I guess "Didn't Know" kind of eliminates this one because I think most of us know most of the movie was improvised....but Bull Murray's Dali Lhama speech in Caddyshack is entirely inprovised.
I believe most of Murray's lines were improv in that. I know that the whole "Cinderella Story" was off the cuff.

The kid in the movie Dutch - credited as Ethan Randall IS Ethan Embry of

That Thing You Do

Papa Georgio

Can't Hardly Wait

Sweet Home Alabama

Harold and Kumar

and many other vehicles

Teenage mutant ninja turtles the movie from like 91. I saw it the other day and recognized the voice of Donatello, looked it up and it was Cory feldman.

The lounge singer from The Rocketeer is a younger and hotter Jan from the office.

Yes I watched the Rocketeer recently.

Also in Black Hawk Down:Ioan Gruffudd - Who also played Mr. Fantastic is the guy that has the epileptic seizure.Tom Hardy - One of the two guys that gets stranded when they don't meet up with the convoy also played Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis but is more recently known for playing Eames in Inception. The movie also has Jason Isaacs and Jeremy Piven, but I'm sure everyone knew that.

Alex Rocco, who played Moe Green in The Godfather also voiced Roger Meyers Jr. (Chairman And CEO of Itchy & Scratchy Studios) in a few episodes of The Simpsons.

Don't forget Spud.

Kim Darby who played Mattie Ross in the original True Grit also played Lane Meyer's mother in Better Off Dead.

In honor of our special guest, I've created dinner mon dieu — including Frahnch fries ... Frahnch dressing ... and Frahnch bread. And to drink ... (holding up a bottle of Perrier) Pay-roo!

Was just watching "Planes, Trains And Automobiles". Early on there is a scene where Candy & Martin hitch a ride in the back of a pickup driven by a tobacco-chewing (and spitting) hillbilly named Owen.

Owen looked vaguely familiar to me.

Turns out.........he's Dylan Baker, a classic character actor, probably best known as Dr. Connors in the "Spider Man" movies; he also portrayed Robert McNamara in "Thirteen Days" and he's done literally hundreds of other roles.
