Random movie "aha" moment (1 Viewer)

Glory popped up on HBO the other night. The guy who played Jupiter Sharts, the dude that stuttered, was also one of the hookers in "Fargo".

So I'm watching the Joe Schmo marathon, reliving this great show. Really is if yo haven't seen it.

Anyway -

Kristen Wig is a "house contestant"

Natassha Leggero

For you Sunny in Philly fans - the guy that plays rickety cricket is hutch the doosh

I watched "Made" Sunday night on IFC, which was funnier than I remembered. Anyway the simpering hotel service guy who gets abused by Vince Vaughn was Sam Rockwell. He'd done bigger stuff prior (like Galaxy Quest and Green Mile), but I had totally forgotten he was in Made (uncredited to boot).
And the doorman who let in Screech ahead of Vaughn and Favreau was Furio from "Sopranos".

The guy that played George Mason on 24 was the foster dad to young John Conner in Terminator 2. He was killed on both shows. One by the terminator T1000 who was disguised as his wife and the other by flying a suicide plane mission to save the city.
The wife - or foster mother to John Connor - was played by Jenette Goldstein. The bad### marine Vasquez in Aliens.

Watched Colossus - The Forbin Project, sci-fi flick from the 1970 that holds up surprisingly well in 2010. One of the computer scientists, with a very minor speaking part but is in the background of many scenes is a young (40 at the time) James Hong.

I have to admit he detracted from the movie a little because every time he was on screen I kept waiting for him to break out with "

"

thinking about sgt. hulka thread, it only occurred to me last night that warren oates played hulka in "stripes". i never really connected oates in a comedy for some reason.

She was also in Titanic. She died in bed with her kids after the guard would not let her up from the lower decks.

I spotted Jack Nicholson in an Andy Griffith episode from '66 last night.
They re-run that episode all the time. He was also on several episodes of "Dr. Kildare". My favorite early Jack clip is
are Jack and Dennis Hopper making cameo appearances in The Monkees' 1968 film "Head". Why was Jack making a cameo in this flick? Because he co-wrote and co-produced it.

Alanna Ubach - plays the neighbor on Hung, plays the heavy maid in Meet the ####ers that Stiller loses his virginity too.

He dies a lot. He also died in Air Force One. He was the Secret Service agent who turned on Harrison Ford at the end in the worst plot twist of the movie and went down with the plane.

The summer TV season being as dead as it always is....my wife and I have been watching Little House on the Prairie. This past week we reached season 8 and she asks me if I recognize the new little blond haired kid that the Ingles adopted. I spent two full episodes trying to figure it out, but had to give up and ask. She tells me it's Jason Bateman. :goodposting:

Small one but just noticed last week that in Naked Gun, the Angels manager is also Joe Cabot from Reservoir Dogs. (Lawrence Tierney)

During Reservoir Dogs, Cabot reports that one of his henchmen was "dead as Dillinger" - a line inserted by Tarantino as an "in-joke" and reference to Tierney's first major film role as John Dillinger in 1945. During the production of Reservoir Dogs, Tierney's off screen antics both amused and disturbed the cast and crew. Tarantino later said that he almost got in a fight with Tierney during the filming.
Also of course Elaine's father in Seinfeld as well as several other TV roles...
When he guest-starred on Seinfeld (1990) in "The Jacket" episode as Elaine's father, Alton Benes, he scared the cast so badly that they never had him back on. He stole a butcher knife from the set and hid it under his jacket. When Jerry Seinfeld confronted him about it (much to the dismay of the entire cast), Tierney made a joking stabbing motion towards him as in reference to the movie Psycho.[11] Writer Larry David said that Tierney returned to the show's offices about a week after shooting on the episode had wrapped, late on a Saturday night; although uncertain of his motive, David speculated that he was "looking for a sandwich or something."
One of his last film roles was as an appearance as Bruce Willis' father in Armageddon. His agent Don Gerler later commented that "a few years back I was still bailing him out of jail. He was 75 years old and still the toughest guy in the bar!"
Ok, enough cutting and pasting from Wikipedia.

Iron Eagle came on the other night. The main character's girlfriend in the movie looked very familiar. I couldn't place her, so I went to IMDB. Turned out to be Jan from The Office.

I was also suprised seeing Darko a few months ago and picking out Seth Rogen, although already mentioned here.

Another thing: There have been some Seinfeld reruns on lately where Jerry mentioned having a sister and George mentioned having a brother, neither of whom we ever saw on the show. It wouldn't have surprised me if Elaine had mentioned a sibling, because I sort of remember this happening, but hearing those two characters mention siblings kind of blew my mind.

Also, Laura's adopted daughter in the final season was Shannen Doherty. And the kid who played Andy Garvey would later grow up to play Lt. Roberts on "JAG".

Was flipping through channels last night and saw Lost In Space on. This was the movie version with Mimi Rodgers, William Hurt, Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman and Heather Graham.

But I couldn't quite put my finger on who played the teenage daughter. Checked IMDB and lo and behold it is Lacey Chabert.

I think that's what made his role so good, Oates played it straight in the middle of a comedy.

This happened to me a couple of years ago as well. :hot:

While watching Saving Private Ryan last night, I knew I had seen the "other" Private Ryan.

Only after looking on IMDB for something else did I notice it was Nathan Fillion

Showing my students a short clip from a PBS series on The American Revolution from 1996 or so. Philip Seymour Hoffman has a small role as a Continental Army recruit.

Also, Melora Hardin was in a few episodes as well as a student. She's Albert's love interest when he comes back to Walnut Grove and dies from Lukiema. The actress who played Willie's wife in the last season of Little House, Rachel Brown (Sherri Stoner) is the model that was used for The Little Mermaid.

Stoner in Little House (That was the only one I could find)

Stoner and Little Mermaid

Plus, Andy Garvey is Albert's real life brother (although I know you knew that, TG).

Watching "Last of the Mohicans" the other day for the umpteenth time. The British Lieutenant (leftenant?) at the beginning who is trying to recruit settlers for the militia is played by Jared Harris or Lane Pryce on Mad Men.

Never noticed that before.

Was watching the independent flick I Shot Andy Warhol over the weekend, and spotted a few characters.

Michael Imperioli was an obvious spot, but fellow Sopranos actor John Ventimiglia (Artie Bucco) played a voyeuristic perv. Also, Jared Harris (Lane) from Mad Men plays Andy Warhol.

I was watching "A Knight's Tale" the other night and realized that the guy that plays Chaucer is also Silas in "The Da Vinci Code."
