Rashad Jennings (1 Viewer)

rotoworld said this

"Rashad Jennings will undergo an MRI on his left knee Monday.

Jennings "indicated that he thinks he's going to be OK tomorrow," but the MRI will be critical. Andre Williams carried the load impressively off the bench in Sunday's win over the Falcons, busting several first-down runs in clock-killing mode and setting an obvious tone. Even if Jennings returns to play in Week 6 against the Eagles, it's possible Williams has earned more work. We did notice Williams playing ahead of Jennings in deeper red-zone packages early in the game, before his injury."

jennings owners should be pretty worried.

Jennings has played great... He looks like the far superior back. Had he not gotten hurt, would've racked up 100yds (prob at about 5 a clip, unlike Williams 3 ypc), a TD, and a few catches...

The only thing any Jennings owner is concerned about is his durability.

I don't expect any RB I draft to play 16 games. In fact, if I get 12-14 games out of any RB, I take that as a win, when they play 16 that is a home run... They get hurt, it just happens all the time to RBs that touch the ball a lot. I'm slightly concerned right now, but if the initial report of a knee sprain are accurate, he shouldn't miss more than one or two games. He has been playing great, and unlike a Montee Ball situation, I'm more than confident the job is his due to that no matter what.

The Giants have a great 2 back combo. Jennings will get his touches and be the lead back whenever he is fit and ready to go. It is not a bad thing to have Williams getting some burn as long as he does not start stealing all of the goaline opportunities which I don't think is going to happen. Jennings has been very impressive in short yardage situations so far this year.

I don't think you have to worry about Jennings losing his job to Williams this year or next. Jennings is easily the better player and play for the next couple of seasons barring injury.

If Jennings ends up held out this coming Sunday...and Williams gets to feast alone on a brutal Eagles run defense...there will definitely be some fuel added to this fire. Williams owners will be salivating at a buffet consisting of 120-140 yards rushing and a TD or two.

Sadly for Jennings owners, this two-week stretch where NYG had ATL and PHL was probably the best part of the schedule.

Rashad Jennings has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL, and is week to week.

He is fully expected to miss Week 6. Jennings said he does not need surgery, and that his MRI indicated the injury will "heal up." However, the New York Daily News believes it's a "good guess" Jennings will be sidelined through the Giants' Week 8 bye. That means rookie handcuff Andre Williams is a must add in all formats, and will immediately flirt with high-end RB2 value despite his lack of involvement in the passing game. Williams is a violent downhill runner with big-time touchdown upside. Jennings should remain stashed in 10-12 team leagues. Oct 6 - 2:37 PM

bummer but better than all season - Figure he's not going to be back until after the bye.....

After two weeks of Williams being the guy, what will Jennings situation look like? 50/50?
I have a hard time believing Jennings won't slide right back into his bell cow role once he returns to full health. The guy was playing lights out. Williams is in a very good situation but hasn't really shown me anything GREAT yet. At least nothing good enough to warrant a takeover. I will say that I am happy to see him actually catching some balls out of the backfield. That is HUGE to his value IMO. Oh, did I mention I own both Williams and Jennings and couldn't be happier to see the youngster gaining some valuable experience as the lead guy? Looking forward to the transition in two years or so! Never was a big handcuff guy but I liked what I saw with Williams coming out of college and its dynasty. He should do well for owners in redraft while Jennings is gone. Scoop him up. NOW.

For the most part, few are stating that Williams is taking over - but seems like a few of us think that him getting an opportunity to shine may bode poorly for Jennings. And bode poorly doesn't make Jennings fantasy irrelevant - just decreased production.

Jennings can't stay healthy and the Giants can't rely onn him over the long haul to be the bell cow.

He got bent up on in the bottom of a pile of 300 lb men which caused him to sprain his MCL. This is not an ailing hamstring or groin injury or something we can label as someone not being capable of staying healthy. This is one of those unavoidable injuries. Unlucky for Jennings but fortunate as it is not major and I am guessing he will be back after the bye week in 8.

Does he have an extensive injury history? Say like Ben Tate?
2010 - Sprained shoulder, missed 3 games.

2012 - Concussion, missed 3 games, sprained right knee, missed 2 games.

2013 - Minor hamstring injury, missed no time. Concussion, missed 1 game.

The thing with him is that he's 6'1 and runs kind of upright so I think he's a bit more susceptible to injury.

ETA: Ben Tate makes Rashad Jennings look like Chris Johnson..so no.

ok man, this is really worrying

"Haha. Nah, we had a little Quest Diagnostics [blood test] that we had to catch up on," Jennings said with a big laugh.

"HGH," he chuckled.

When told that the question was serious, Jennings was taken aback. He was stunned when reporters informed him that the league had, in fact, begun testing.

"Is it?" he said. "They're testing for that now? Really?"

Yep. Pro Football Talk reported that the NFL will conduction 950 HGH tests in the preseason, regular season and postseason. Another 385 in the offseason. That's 1,300 total every year, a large number in comparison to other sports.

The way it works is that, each week, a computer randomly selects five teams. Eight players from those five teams (either from the active roster or practice squad) will be subject to testing.

"I learned something new today," Jennings said. "They're really testing for that?"

Nah. I wouldn't worry specifically in relation to Jennings. I didn't take from the article that he was genuinely concerned the blood he just gave would pop hot.Now with his general lack of awareness of it, I'd be worried for players overall. I'm sure we'll hear some bad news on someone or multiple someones soon.

Rashad Jennings (knee) has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Cowboys.

As expected. The Giants have a Week 8 bye before hosting the Colts in Week 9. Coach Tom Coughlin said the "hope" is that Jennings is back from his sprained MCL for the Indy game. In the meantime, Andre Williams will get another start for the Giants against what has proven to be a very underrated Dallas defense.

Rashad Jennings (knee) said he is targeting the Giants' Week 9 game against the Colts for his return.

Jennings has already been ruled out this week, and the Giants have a bye Week 8. Jennings plans to begin running in a pool next week, and will hopefully get some practices in leading up to Week 9. Andre Williams will get at least one more start.

Rashad Jennings (knee) said Monday he's "hopeful" he can return after the Giants' Week 8 bye, and will begin running this week.
Jennings claims he's "right on track" and considers himself "day to day." As Andre Williams had something of a limiting effect on New York's offense while serving as feature back, and is only averaging 3.15 YPC on the season, Jennings should return as the Giants' clear-lead runner. It's worth noting Jennings wasn't 100 percent committal when discussing a Week 9 return. In 12- and 14-team leagues, Williams is worth holding through New York's bye in case Jennings suffers a setback. He's a 29 1/2-year-old running back dealing with a multi-week MCL sprain.

Rotoworld:

Rashad Jennings (knee) ran Monday for the first time since his MCL sprain.

Jennings' sprain has proven to be more serious than originally anticipated. The fact that he's just resumed straight-line running and won't even try to do any cutting until Wednesday means he's highly unlikely to play against the Colts Monday night. Andre Williams will try to get something going after flubbing his first two NFL starts.

Not good - he should have been ready to go this week....looks like definitely out this week and I'm even concerned about next week at this point.

Rotoworld:

Rashad Jennings (knee) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice.

He's not expected to play Week 10 against the Seahawks, giving unimpressive rookie Andre Williams another start. Reports have Jennings eyeing a Week 11 return from his sprained MCL. He should resume his starting gig.

Jeez this is taking a long time - no way he plays this week and I can't see them throwing him back full tilt in week 11....1st game to expect him carrying the load would be week 12 at best. must have been way worse then the team let on. At least Williams has been awful so he should be the clear guy on his return.

Positive news?

Rashad Jennings (knee) took scout-team reps in Thursday's practice, and refused to rule himself out for Week 10.
However, it's still quite possible that Jennings will be listed as "DNP." If Jennings is getting in reps, it's almost certainly with an eye toward returning against the 49ers in Week 11. We fully expect him to sit against the Seahawks. Nov 6 - 2:23 PM

Rotoworld:

Coach Tom Coughlin was noncommittal on Rashad Jennings' (MCL) availability for Week 11 when asked on Monday.

Keep in mind Ryan Mathews' MCL sprain cost him seven weeks. These are significant injuries for running backs, and Jennings has had them before. "We certainly do expect he'll be ready at the end of this week, but who knows?" said Coughlin. The Giants are preparing to face San Francisco in Week 11.

Rotoworld:

Rashad Jennings (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Jennings is expected to return this week after missing the last four games. Barring a setback, he should start and handle the majority of carries against the 49ers. Jennings will be an RB2 if active, leaving Andre Williams for a change of pace and short-yardage role.

Rotoworld:

The Newark Star-Ledger's Jordan Raanan would be "stunned" if Rashad Jennings (knee) doesn't start and "carry a significant load" against the 49ers in Week 11.

That's been the feeling we've been getting, too. With Peyton Hillis (concussion) and Michael Cox (broken leg) going down in Week 10, the Giants still chose not to add a running back earlier this week, hinting they felt confident in Jennings. Look for Andre Williams to go back to a short-yardage role, handling a couple carries, while Jennings returns to his workhorse post. He's a solid RB2.

Speaking Thursday, Giants coach Tom Coughlin hinted Rashad Jennings (knee) will be ready for Sunday's game against the 49ers, but that he doesn't intend for him to "carry a full load."

Jennings took a "lot" of reps in Thursday's practice, but was officially "limited." Jennings has been sidelined since Week 5, so it's not surprising that the Giants are talking about limiting his workload. With Peyton Hillis (concussion) sidelined and Andre Williams struggling, however, Jennings' touch total could still get in the 15-20 range if he looks good early on Sunday. He can be fired up as an RB2.

Adding a little more to the uncertainty of how ready Jennings is for action.

I may be playing C.J over Jennings this week.

The Newark Star-Ledger believes Rashad Jennings (knee) could be in for a 60-40 split with Andre Williams against the 49ers.
Jennings was handling close to 75 percent of the Giants' running-back touches before going down, but coach Tom Coughlin has said he doesn't expect Jennings to "carry a full load" in his return. For what it's worth, ESPN's Dan Graziano isn't taking Coughlin at his word. We'd consider 60 percent the baseline for Jennings' workload. If he looks healthy and productive early, he could get closer to 75 percent. Williams largely struggled during Jennings' absence.

Rotowolrd gets beat up a lot here and most of the time rightly so, but I think the above analysis is spot on. Tom Coughlin loves him some veterans. If Jennings is effective early on, it'll be like old times because Andre Williams suxor.

Getting conflicting reports on how much this guy will be involved today. Are those of you who have him confident in rolling him out today, or giving it a week to wait and see? I'm likely going Jeremy Hill over him until I see what he does, but I am waffling a lot and not feeling great about it..

Decisions decisions

I know this is AC but debating him or CJ anderson.

My gut says Rashad gets 20 touches and goal line work which should be safer than CJ who might split with Montee

STL also sucks against the pass, so expect Peyton to air it out (even more than usual) and Montee might be in for goalline work.

This poor guy...he had better time with no QB in OAK than with Eli, who throws balls to defenders like it's his job to do it.

Any idea if this guy was hurt at the end of the game?
Nope, he wasn't hurt but they passed on an opportunity to lean on him with about 5 minutes left. Giants were down by 6 and first and goal at the 4 and decided to pass 4 straight times. Why they wouldn't try a run on first down, especially with as ineffective as Manning was, is pretty confusing.

This RW blurb wasn't as sure as you are about not being hurt:

Rashad Jennings said his knee was "all right" following Sunday's loss to the 49ers.

Jennings was a workhorse early and finished with 22 touches on a day there was no daylight to run to. However, late in the game with the Giants in a two-minute offense, Andre Williams was on the field. It's a situation Jennings thrives in, leading us to suspect his knee was acting up a bit. He should be fine for Week 12 against the Cowboys, but practice reports will be worth monitoring.

Yeah, given that blub from RW I can see why someone would ask the question. However on that series with 5 minutes left where they were 1st & goal at the 4 Jennings was on the field. I just happened to be watching the NFL Red Zone and on all four pass attempts Jennings was the lone back.

Rotoworld:

Rashad Jennings (knee) confirmed he escaped Sunday's return without setbacks.

Jennings said his knee feels "solid" after he handled the rock 22 times against San Francisco. His practice reps will undoubtedly be limited this week, but Jennings will be in the RB1 conversation against Dallas' soft run defense. He's the Giants' best means of moving the ball with Eli Manning going back in the tank.

Rashad Jennings has been removed from the Giants' injury report.
Jennings is at or near 100 percent after returning from his sprained MCL last week. We were a bit concerned he may have experienced a setback when Jennings wasn't in the game in the two-minute drill against the 49ers, but all is fine. Jennings is in the RB1 mix for Week 12 against the Cowboys.

what do people think of jennings tomorrow? pretty good matchup but hasn't able to find the endzone much this year (granted has only played in 5 or 6 games)
