Ravens vs. 49ers (1 Viewer)

Anybody else throwing Boldin a vote for MVP? Flacco was awesome but Boldin made some of the biggest plays in the game. What a postseason these two had.
No kidding. From a key play perspective, Bolden just kept coming up aces.

Yeah, Boldin is great. Love seeing a WR who is so beastly. Never forget that hit he took and how he dealt with it. He's always been overshadowed. As much as I hate seeing Ray get this, ya gotta love a guy like Boldin getting his due. What a football player, all business.

Refs missed a blatant hold by the punt protector there that allowed the Ravens to eat up an extra 4 or 5 seconds there.
The clock doesn't stop the second the flag is thrown so it had no impact
:goodposting: That hold was so blatant it was obvious they were told to do it. There are penalties against the defensive team when they are losing at the end of a game to prevent stuff like this, but none that Is know against the offense. Somewhat of a loophole I guess. Smart play by the Ravens.
A holding in the end zone would have resulted in a safety. Wouldn't have mattered.
10 yds and more time on the clock does matter.
What 10 yards and what extra time?
:goodposting:

Not sure what happened but the 49ers had no business in this game after that first half. It was all Baltimore plus the kickoff. No idea if Baltimore played soft or what. I did not think Rice did fumble that ball... pretty close call there. On the other hand, the 49ers defense did not do much of anything all night.Above average game.Below average commercials.Terrible national anthem and halftime show.

Not that it matters, but it wasn't even challenged, it was plain as day.

Good thing Jim cut the power to the stadium to get the Niners back in it. Now that's coaching!

Our halftime show was great...we just kept playing the Kate Upton Cat Daddy video over and over.High quality entertainment.

Thank God the Ravens won. I'm not sure if I could handle the 49ers fans gloating all offseason.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it but someone on tv said Flacco, and essentially the offense, were not on the field for 82 real time minutes from the beginning of half time through the end of the power outage. I doubt the statistic is kept but that has to be near the longest time an offense did not see the field in real time.

just some random postgame thoughts FWIW:1) how do the niners come out on the first play of the game and line up illegally? i just find this incredible and it really set them back right out of the gate. poor coaching?2) how does williams not get ejected for shoving a ref? this was a huge non-call as he is a big part of the ravens defense.3) can't really blame kaepernick for burning that timeout in the 3rd quarter when he was confused but, darn, did that hurt the niners. on the other hand, they seemed really unprepared for the 2-point conversion and could have used the TO then. poor coaching here imo as well.4) the offensive play calling at the end of the game was indeed poor. not only were the niners running the ball well, but they would have wanted to kill some clock too. but they throw three straight plays--mind boggling.5) if the defender is holding the WR, the refs have to call it. it was not a good non-call. it was a blown penalty that could have cost the niners the game.

Just like I have hated the gloating of every team's fans since 1994? I hope the Niners win the next 2 just to make your life miserable.

John :pokey: Jim :penalty: Plenty of missed calls all game. Torrey Smith was getting mugged all game. Flacco hit out of bounds. Pass to Crabtree was awful and he was pushing off. Good no call.

The only reason Crabtree was pushing off was because he was getting held, I mean mugged. The refs blew that call and blew the no-call on Flacco getting hit out of bounds, that was clearly a late hit.

Agreed, it set the tone for the first half when the 49ers were just off, for whatever reason - lack of focus, nerves, etc. On the Ravens' first TD drive they had a 3rd adown and a 49er defensive tackle was offsides when there wasn't even a hard count - next play was a TD.
on the other hand, they seemed really unprepared for the 2-point conversion and could have used the TO then. poor coaching here imo as well.
They looked horrible on the 2 point conversion. Didn't pick up the blitz even though the Ravens were showing it, and CK and his receiver were not on the same page. They didn't look so good either on the 4th down play when CK had pressure on him from up the middle. Part of it is the rawness of Kaepernick, who still hasn't played a full season of games. The 49er passing game doesn't have nearly the adjustments/hot reads that other teams can have with more seasoned QBs.
5) if the defender is holding the WR, the refs have to call it. it was not a good non-call. it was a blown penalty that could have cost the niners the game.
I'd say that was probably a penalty, but don't think it was a horrible no-call. More blatant was on the play before that where there was a helmet to helmet on Crabtree (which caused him to drop the ball), which wasn't called.

I was stunned that once the 49ers made it first and goal with about 2 minutes left, they didn't just run it 4 times. The Niners have such a dynamic running offense and Ngata was OUT. You gotta think that is the dream situation. Instead, pass, pass, pass?

Yeah, that's gonna be a hot topic for us Niner fans all off season. :wall:

I was screaming run the whole time. ####!!Kap had a chance to take it to the 3 YL on like 2nd down but he elected to throw. ####!

Worse call than the holding on CT (Based on the precedence set for DB play earlier in the game), even though I'm all right with neither being called.

Looked like if he had pump-faked, he had a decent chance to run it in for a TD on that play.

Had Kaepernick made a good throw at all, I think SF might have gotten a flag on that 4th down play. Given the situation, just a terrible throw by him. Granted, Harbaugh did him no favors with the play-calling. WTF was that 3rd down call?

The OP was written as an immediate follow-up to the refs missing the hold by the Ravens DB. Yes, you numb####s, I know that it would not have added more time to the clock.

And perhaps you would understand how replies work on this board and could see I was not replying to your OP...but to someone who stated that 10 yards and more time would matter. And whats a numb####s?Why 4 #### and the s?

This... I'm not sure why there wasn't more outcry about the no call on the helmet to helmet contact... I agree sometimes that call seems like a cop out because somebody got hit too hard and there helmets "may" have made contact but this one was pretty obviously the defender launching and using his helmet as a weapon which the NFL claims they don't want... If that call is made then I don't think there could have been a complaint from either side

Thought for the most part the refs did a decent job. They let teams play and DBs and WRs fight for things...something most usually complain about is too many calls there.Obviously they missed the guy shoving the ref and probably should have laid down the law earlier with all the pushing and shoving early on in that game.

This was my biggest issue with the 49ers. You have the best OL in the NFL, gashing the Ravens all night to the tune of 6+ YPC, and Ngata is out. Run the ball 3 straight times to gain 5 yards and win the super bowl.It seemed like Jim Harbaugh got too cute with his playcalling.

1st and 7 at BAL 7 (Shotgun) L.James right guard to BLT 5 for 2 yards (D.Ellerbe; D.Tyson). 2nd and 5 at BAL 5 (Shotgun) C.Kaepernick pass incomplete short right to M.Crabtree (C.Graham). Timeout #2 by SF at 01:55. 3rd and 5 at BAL 5 C.Kaepernick pass incomplete short right to M.Crabtree (J.Smith). 4th and 5 at BAL 5 (Shotgun) C.Kaepernick pass incomplete short right to M.Crabtree.

1st and 7 at BAL 7 (Shotgun) F.Gore right guard to BLT 5 for 2 yards2nd and 5 at BAL 5 (Shotgun) C.Kaepernick left end to BLT 2 for 3 yards3rd and 2 at BAL 2 (Shotgun) F.Gore left guard to BLT 1 for 1 yard4th and 1 at BAL 1 (Shotgun) F.Gore middle for TOUCHDOWN
Thought Harbaugh spit the bit in real time last night.

How can you NOT run Kap at least 2x?

Or Gore rather than L. James. Gore can at least power his way for multiple yards.

This cracked me up. The ref was pushed, so how could they miss it? The ref knew he was pushed but decided that he didn't want to kick the guy in the most important game of the season. They did however miss the several punches the guy threw at the opponent who was laying on the ground. I'm sure he will get a few game suspension for both actions (the punches and the ref push).

It's worth noting that they did have a Kaepernick run called on the play that got blown dead when they used the timeout just before the ball was snapped.Still though, I agree, should have been all run even if they knew it was coming.

The final play on Crabtree was a close call, but there is ZERO chance that gets called or should be. Crabtree came to the DB and initiated contact. Yes, the def was grabby, but Crab was also hand fighting the defender. If Smith didnt tug on Crab, but Crab still initiated contact and then swim moved and pushed off, you think they call that off pass interference? No way. They let them play, good call.

:goodposting: And on the one play they do run its James, not Gore. I don't mind running James once but only if you're going to run Gore at least two more times.
