Ray Rice video of KO punch released (1 Viewer)

People criticize TMZ, call them cockroaches, and I understand where all the hate comes from. But they've now broken the Sterling story and released the Rice video. These guys are breaking news without bias, or having affiliations that would make them withhold information and it's leading to changing some things. I give them credit.
Credit them with starting witch hunts and media frenzies which lead to reactions from professional sports leagues. Ideally decision making would be based on a moral standard rather than retweets

The NFL NEVER contacted the casino to request video of Ray Rice brutalizing his fiancee ... TMZ Sports has learned. Commissioner Rodger Goodell made his disciplinary decision in the dark, which raises the question ... Is that the way he wanted it?

Sources connected with the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City tell TMZ Sports ... NO ONE from the NFL ever asked for the video inside the elevator ... video that was compelling enough to get Rice instantly fired.

Sources who worked at the casino at the time of the incident tell us ... if the NFL had asked for the video, they would have gladly complied.

Without video ... Goodell blindly justified the initial 2-game suspension, based on the only evidence they had -- from the two people in the elevator, who called it mutual combat.

Multiple sources tell TMZ Sports ... the casino made a copy of the elevator surveillance video for police. We're also told Rice's lawyer had a copy of the video, which he got in the criminal case.

I thought the NFL requested the video from the police? Not the Casino. It's possible the police told casino owners to not release the video unless authorties allowed it.

Stupid question maybe but I swear I saw this video months ago. Was it not available online somewhere? Am I confusing this with another similar video?

I think the one that was released intially was just of him dragging her unconcious body from the elevator. I don't remember seeing any video released of him physically hitting her.

Ok, so the NFL apparently didnt lie yesterday...that's nice. Now they just look incredibly stupid, incompetent and...perhaps most damning....lacking of concern to get to the bottom of this.

*If this was quarantined to the sports media*, then Goodell would have nothing at all to worry about.

But the non-sports media, which will control how much heat the NFL gets, has something to grab onto here if they feel like it (the sports media has too many that wont rock the boat). Amazingly, this is what these stories come down to: does a new, bigger story in the world knock this off the stage with the non-sports media? If not, the chance of the commissioner surviving might actually be barely 50%.

We should start a new thread about whether or not Goodell should resign, as several media members have suggested recently

This goes out to all you guys that thought its really hard to get a security video from a New Jersey casino.

Yeah, and that the police confiscate all evidence from the casino. The only thing I can't figure out, is why this wasn't leaked sooner. The Casino must have a pretty tight grip on their surveillance staff to not have someone make a quick copy and cash in earlier.

So does it matter to anyone that the person effected the most by this "HIS WIFE" the woman who was beaten, did not want this for her man and posted to her Instagram her feelings, or does her opinion of what happened to her not matter to you and your opinion of what should happen to her husband plus everyone else feels they know whats best for her and her family, yet somehow, we do not find people butting into someone elses relationship disgusting.

This is a cop out from the media and the public, a lot of people here are fake and that is backed up by the outrage from seeing a video we already knew what happened on, repunishing a guy for a mistake the commish made and not given a stuff penalty.

But people claim they care so much about this woman, until it comes time to care for her and her family. Do you think she feels better today or worst from the outrage you all hypersensitive people showed to a video you already knew what happened on? Or does the victims feelings not matter to you? For that you are fake and are the exact people the media targets on, because they know you do and feel as others tell you to.

So now that you are so disgusted about the Ray Rice video, now next time that shovel video or any other fight video come across your Facebook and you share that with a friend, remember how fake you are and that most of your outrage is because that is what you think society expects.

When you saw him dragging her body out of the elevator, what did you think happen? Guess we can call you uneducated people if you thought what you saw on the video wasnt what happened.

I thought, "What a wonderful guy Ray is, taking her back to the room."

It's rather obvious you don't know how those abused react to their abusers.

No his head should be removed from his shoulders........just kidding but others on here would be all for it....I have felt all along this is a police matter and a private matter between the two.....He should receive his fair punishment of being suspended for 6 games as the commissioner just enacted and be required to seek counseling for his behavior. Taking his livelihood away is only going to cause more problems, nothing is more stressful and leads to tension in a marriage than financial issues.

Yes, I generally think an abused woman's opinion on what is happening to her, or what's best for her and her family should be disregarded. I assume since you're accusing other people of being uneducated, that you yourself under the phychology behind why an abused person stays in abusive situations. The denial involved. The twisted thinking. The fear. The embarrassment. The guilt. The excuses. Are you really suggesting we should just let it be in the victim is ok with it? We should just let her continue in that cycle?

Good post...what idiot did not know that was what happened when he saw the footage of the wife being dragged out? To destroy his career here is a poor move. Hopefully though, the NFL mans up and treats everyone the same, which means McDonald and Hardy get lifetime bans too. Also, Goodell should be fired for the keystone cop-esque handling of this.

I think a lot of people just immediately assumed colonel mustard

How has Goodell destroyed Ray Rice's career here? He didn't sucker punch Rice's wife on camera, for all the world to eventually see. And he hasn't banned him for life. He's suspended indefinitely. Until he's suspended for more than six games, it is consistent with the current league policy. What's the complaint, again?

Nobody is saying he should not be punished. He was punished, to destroy his career is not defensible. If this is the case, anyone who is convicted of hitting another person should be banned. If that was the going rate, I would say this is fair. You do not seem to have a problem with drunk drivers who murder others or with dude's who stab people to death.

If they let him back next year, I am fine with this. It is however a bunch of sanctimonious b/s. that most of you are shoveling here. Like I said, you have to be a total rock head to have not understood that he smoked that woman hard when we all saw him dragging her out of the elevator.

False Start thinks people are stupid for watching the video and not knowing beforehand exactly what happened without seeing it.

That includes NFL players, NFL coaches, NFL fans everywhere, newscasters, Ravens fans who formerly supported Rice and abandoned him after seeing the video, and most NFL reporters who are usually NFL suckups.

They're all stupid according to False Smart.

You would think Ray Rice killed someone if you read these threads or watch the media.
He might of. People have died from less viscous blows. Seriously, could your drunk-a*s even bend over to comfort her before the elevator door hits her head?

Its funny isnt it that people taking any angle but jumping on Rice is in the supporitng him camp huh?

You either hate him or love him right?

You cant disagree with what he did, but think how its being handled and that the naive approach by society is wrong huh? Not possible. If you do you are a gnome or from another planet. lmfao.

I'd like to hear from Rice again. See what he has to say.

For what it's worth:

I'll bet you my house that Rice comes out in support of the additional punishments.

He hasn't. Ray Rice has. By punching his fiance, knocking her out, lying to his team and league about it, lying to his teammates about it, and hiding behind the woman he punched every chance he got. The responsibility is all on Rice.

Some furniture moving company will hire him eventually. Or mall security company.

Yes I do, in fact i would go as far as saying ignorant and would say someone should be ashamed of themselves for not understanding what would of happened when someone punches a woman.

I have made it clear I think people are hyper-sensitve and over reacting to a video any educated person would know what happened without seeing it. He swung and punched a woman, you need a video to tell you how bad it is? Sorry you cant grasp that, but then again, you seemed to have no clue whats so ever what a punch would look like from all your worldly experience, so tell us more.

Sorry to hear you're so upset, and that most people have failed you by not meeting your standards. It must be tough.

You would think Ray Rice killed someone if you read these threads or watch the media.
He had reckless disregard for his wife's life in the elevator. Manslaughter wasn't the result, but it could have been. Close enough for a lot of people.

How has Goodell destroyed Ray Rice's career here?

Why does another man, punching his wife bother you so much? Its wrong, no one is saying it is, but why is it so important that this man suffers from his own problems that do not effect you none? Why do you find it important to make his life more miserable because you do not agree with what he does?

Did he punch your wife, did he punch a woman in your family? No he didnt. I dont understand why so many care as if he attacked their family.

I find it odd people want others to suffer instead of get them help.

Yes, I'm the one upset, I'm not the one angry at someone elses personal life so much that I would like to see them destroyed or dead.

Ironic you seem to be against violence, but you seem to like to start friction and cause conflict on the internet. Weird, huh?

Maybe you were under a rock, but there was roaring outrage when the two game suspension was handed down. And getting bent out of shape over people's visceral reaction to the video...talk about sanctimonious bs.

You would think Ray Rice killed someone if you read these threads or watch the media.
And you would think Ray Rice is the victim here if you read some posts in these threads.

What really disturbs me about the video is how unconcerned he is about her after he knocks her out. He might have killed her and you would think it would be a "OMG! What did I do?" reaction and trying to revive her. Instead her nonchalantly drags her out like a bag of potatoes and puts her fact down on the dirty floor in front of the elevator.

When you saw him dragging her body out of the elevator, what did you think happen? Guess we can call you uneducated people if you thought what you saw on the video wasnt what happened.

Not defending False Start here, but I do understand part of what he is saying. The first video of her being dragged out of the elevator, after I saw it I figured he hit her and seemed pretty obvious. After seeing the actual elevator video, the part that shocks me is not that he hit her, but the lack of remorse and that he seemed bothered to have to drag her out of the elevator. The spitting at her doesn't help either. That is complete disrespect.

I don't understand the argument that viewing the tape should not change anyone's opinion that is repeatedly made here and in other threads. People have stated or suggested that we already knew "exactly" what happened before the tape became public. NO, we did not.

There was speculation that Rice's fiancee had spit on him and was much more of an aggressor in the situation and that Rice was defending himself in some shape or form. It was also speculated by some that she may have been knocked out from being intoxicated or hitting something else after Rice struck her. None of this make's hitting a woman defensible but in my mind it would have somewhat mitigated just how egregious an act it was on his part.

After seeing the video it's clear what actually occurred and Rice's callous reaction was not consistent with this being a one time event or that he was truly remorseful for his actions. And many of us are visual people. Seeing something firsthand has a much different impact than hearing about it through 2nd and 3rd hand sources. That's just the way it is.

And from the NFL's standpoint it's ridiculous that they either did not have a legitimate interest in seeing the tape before this week or they are lying about it. Both are outrageous claims. Many of the comparisons to the Gordon situation are misguided and tiring IMO but I will say this.

It's shameful that the NFL dedicates the amount of resources it does to test players like Gordon something like 70 times to determine if he is using marijuana in his free time yet they can't contact a two bit casino in an attempt to obtain the tape of a player committing a violent crime knocking out his fiancee. Shameful and outrageous.

You would think I support women beating because I make that argument. If you are not attacking Ray Rice, you are scum.

Hate to see what happens to a person who wears his jersey to a game. Ironically I bet people would beat the person up because they dont like them wearing a shirt of a wife beater. Then think its OK to do so afterwards, two wrongs make a right in society.

Why does another man, punching his wife bother you so much?
What he did was dead wrong and he got what he deserved, despite the support of suckups, people profiting from him, and excuse-makers. I'm pretty satisfied with that result.
Clearly you cant read. Hitting a woman is wrong, want me to capitalize it, spell it our phonetically?

However, you being satisfied is my point, who the heck do you think you are? You are just a member of society who thinks that you should have a say in everything.

He was punished already, just because you saw the video and are angry, doesnt mean he should suffer more of a punishment.

Fatness is satisfied, the world can sleep.

Self Righteousness!
Damn straight. I'll own that with pride. In fact, you've inadvertently paid me a high compliment.

Don't mistake "self-righteous" with "misguided". On this matter, everyone should absolutely be self-rightwous. There really aren't a bunch of legitimate competing viewpoints here. People don't get to batter their family -- spouse, child, whatever. It doesn't get to stay private, and it's right and good that a third party -- such as the state -- overrides any kind of intra-familial exoneration.

I think self righteous people are as pathetic as women beaters, so no, it is not a compliment. They disgust me the same.

One can make a good argument after seeing statements like this:

Why does another man, punching his wife bother you so much?

So does it matter to anyone that the person effected the most by this "HIS WIFE" the woman who was beaten, did not want this for her man and posted to her Instagram her feelings, or does her opinion of what happened to her not matter to you and your opinion of what should happen to her husband plus everyone else feels they know whats best for her and her family, yet somehow, we do not find people butting into someone elses relationship disgusting.
Nobody is saying he should not be punished. He was punished, to destroy his career is not defensible. If this is the case, anyone who is convicted of hitting another person should be banned. If that was the going rate, I would say this is fair. You do not seem to have a problem with drunk drivers who murder others or with dude's who stab people to death.
He destroyed his own career. Not the NFL or Roger Goodell, or TMZ. The Ravens made the choice to cut him. He's been suspended indefinitely by the NFL, which is not the same as saying he's banned for life. I don't think he'll play another down, because I don't think the lockerroom would have him. A man who would deck his wife and not bat an eye isn't welcome in my house. I sure many players feel the same. His bad luck that it was caught on camera, but it's his fault.

But really that wasn't what I was talking about. I don't agree that we should turn a blind eye to abuse because the victim appears to be ok with it. The victim is the worst judge of what she needs. It seems like some are saying "well, she seems happy enough with him, so it's not that big a deal".

I do feel badly for her that this played out in such a public way. But hopefully this will open people's eyes on the horrors of domestic abuse and more will be done about it in the future.

I can't figure out why anyone would be more worried about "ending Ray Rice's career" for bit than they are about Ray Rice ending a woman's consciousness for a bit.

You should listen more and talk less.

Backtrack a bit ... thinking that it's wrong for a man to hit his wife is self-righteous? That's my takeaway at the moment.
