RB Alex Collins, SEA (1 Viewer)

It's just too tempting to try and collect lottery ticket RBs. Can never fit enough of them onto my bench. It's a bit of an obsession tbh. They are the most important part of a roster. Even more important than starting bell cow running backs. Never live in the present, always look to the future. I may drop Leveon Bell for Collins. Then if Collins starts to take over that backfield, I might drop him for Conner incase Bell gets injured.

I'm the same way. Picked up Buck Allen two weeks ago, parlayed him into Abdullah. Picked up Perine yesterday and trying to package him into Gurley. But all my parlays involve me giving extra players just so I can pick up the next big thing. I don't care if I give up a little too much either, I just love making the deal and getting the next new thing.

Totally agree. The one I'm working on just now...

The West owner literally has no RBs - West, Blount, Kelly and Mixon. And that's it. However he's loaded at WR with Beckham, M Thomas and Parker. I picked up Buck Allen last week, now I'm trying to package him up with another player to try and get Thomas from that owner. It would be quite the thing if he took Allen to help him at RB and try lock up the Ravens backfield with Allen and West, for me to then turn around and pluck Collins for free off the wire. The thought of Collins somehow winning that backfield and having attained M Thomas in the process is just too much to handle

I was actually thinking of it. West has always been an enigma...Never can he have a solid few weeks and get his career moving in the right direction. By now he should have made something happen. He's just a guy. I'd rather take a shot at his replacement then wait too long and be stuck and then have to drop West later.

I was actually going to ask you if you've looked at the tape, since I didn't watch the game.

He looked pretty good on the run he fumbled on, but that's all I could find.

He looks good - consistently good on every run. Good vision and good footwork. I'll put together a video real quick.

The truth is SEA had an embarrassment of riches at the position and I'm betting they wish they kept him over Lacy.

 
Woooooooo nellllyyyyy. All aboard the A-train!!  Sad DJ owner here and am looking for that spark at RB. Currently have CJ2K in my RB2 spot until douggy fresh gets back, but am debating hard on rolling the dice with this guy. His vision and speed seemed excellent on those runs. 

 
He looks good.

I tried to wait until I completed a trade and lost out on him in a league where I have West.  3 Ravens fans in the league so I shoulda known better.

Could be the lead guy as early as this week...

 
Just picked him up in my Dynasty league (deep league). Looked damn good on that video. Worth a shot. That team needs a spark at RB....badly.

But seriously, whole lot of conjecture in here. Least we forget that Allen has a better pedigree, can catch the ball, has been on the team for 3 years, didn't fumble last week and has been pretty damn good to this point. I could see him get a share of carries, maybe even goal line but lead back with two weeks of time? Sure.

Maybe because they didn't have anyone else and Allen has had 40 touches in two weeks. There is room for Collins, the Ravens and their OC want to run the ball more then anyone else in the NFL, but let's slow down on the instant stud talk. He can't catch and that will limit what the Ravens will do with him as long as Allen is healthy.

Allen has been medicore his whole career. No way in hell he would be the goal line back lol. I could see Allen being the 3rd down back. 

 
so, where do we feel he ranks among the other RB lotto tickets;

  • Carson
  • Burkhead
  • Kamara
  • Foreman
  • Conner (sheer handcuff)
  • Perine
  • Breida
  • etc...


Seems like talentwise I'd likely put him just below Carson, but adding in opportunity, it gets a little more murky for me.

I'm optimistic.  While he only saw the field for 8 garbage time snaps last week (carried on 7), the comments from Harbaugh seem promising and he's certainly no worse than the other RB lotto tickets.  I just dumped Ellington for him, so I'm officially invested.  Hoping the arrow keeps trending up.   @Weebs210 , thanks for keeping the hype train moving!

That's a good enough move IMO. I guess Lee could blow up in the SE way Robinson did two years ago but I think the offensive philosophy in Jax has changed so much since then it is highly doubtful. RB lotto tickets >>>WR lotto tickets.

Not that anyone cares, but I already have Lockett as a potential lotto. Hilton sucks so he's actually more my WR4 than Lockett is. I can afford this drop. If Collins pans out it'll be huge trade bait. One team in my league is very stuck at RB and I've been trying to pry Antonio Brown from him. He just might be desperate enough if Collins erupts (he has West and Howard among others) 

 
I'm aboard the Alex Collins hype-train.  Dropped another lotto-ticket(James Conner) for him...I also own Buck Allen.  I think there is a decent chance he takes West's role if he is given the opportunity.  Hoping that one of Collins or Buck pans out as the Ravens guy for later in the season, as they get the juicy playoff matchups of Cleveland and Indy for weeks 15/16.  Never too early to think playoffs  :yes:

Allen is going to get as much work as he can handle, right? Maybe he loses GL touches.

But I'll take 15-20 carries and 5 catches in a PPR league.

7/42 is something I can get behind. 

Allen isn't built like, nor is his skill set comprehensive enough to be an every down RB. Which is why West had value even with Allen getting the receptions. Collins is a bigger back with more 2 down skills than Allen. And yes, Collins would get the goal line carries.

I think Allen would hold great value in PPR but is capped due to losing goal line carries. If Collins gets 2 down work plus goal line, that's something to get excited about. Look at it this way, Abdullah is a fairly intriguiing RB but his biggest issue is he loses receptions and goal line carries. Many people in that thread admit if he got goal line carries we'd be talking a RB2 floor. Collins/Allen could be an Abdullah/Riddick type scenario except Collins would be getting goal line carries- which is huge. I think this offense could support two valuable FF RBs in a PPR scenario. 

And West has always been "meh"

Regardless of how you feel about Collins, Ravens have only 2 RBs and Collins is one. Plus, Langford just got IR'd. Pick him up.

That's my plan! Would probably drop for Connor just in case Bell decides to get hurt. Did that a long time ago with Murray in Dallas when he was second fiddle I think to Felix Jones... added and dropped him for 3-4 weeks and finally struck gold with an injury. Won me my league that year I believe

I got Connor as well, but think I'm going to cut Foreman before Connor as the Bell owner in my league will likely claim him before i'm able to pick him back up.

 
Just dropped Charcandrick West for him. For the record I don't see Collins as a particularly great talent; graded as a poor athlete in college and projected to be a "workmanlike runner". Add to that he ran last week against a tired Cleveland D in garbage time. However, when I watch the tape I see a little wiggle and burst... I mean he seems like he can get a little more that what's blocked, unlike Paul Perkins (what happened to 2016 Paul Perkins????). Plus the biggest thing:
 

Terrance West (thigh) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice.

It's not a promising sign for his Week 3 availability. Buck Allen has out-touched West 40-29 through two weeks and would probably be close to an every-down player if West can't go against the Jaguars this week.

They're not giving Allen every snap and the coach already said Collins deserves more work. Can you imagine if Collins can get double-digit touches? Or by some reason, manages to make this a legit timeshare for one week (if West is out) and impress the staff? All I'm saying is, this a lotto ticket that has a shot to pay off now as opposed to a Marlon Mack/Matt Brieda situation.

eggggghhhhh... depends how desperate you are and if this is Dynasty or Redraft. I went zeroRB in a 16-teamer and going into Monday my Starting RBS were Jacquizz Rodgers and Paul Perkins with my bench RBs Charcandrick West, Gio Bernard and Marlon Mack :shock: .  I got Chris Johnson earlier in waivers, but I need as many tickets and possible.

Dynasty? Brieda. Clearer path and more talented IMHO.

Redraft? Collins. Situation could become much clearer fast due to injuries/showcasing. And he's free right now.

People keep saying this. Is the third quarter down 11 considered garbage time for teams now? Did I miss the memo? Not all of his runs were end of the game. I agree with most of the rest though.

Did you watch the video? He looked amazing. Thats what you are missing. Im not gonna pretend I know how this shakes out but if you have a free spot it doesnt hurt making the speculative add and seeing how it shakes out.

Yeah I never thought Cleveland could come back with Kizer hurt so once Baltimore went ahead I considered the game over :P .

 
Thinking about picking him up in one dynasty, but here is the question. Short benches, best ball league, and I am a contender. Do I drop Blount and stash him? It is hard to stash people in this league with large starting lineup, and superflex.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bal has given enough load for 2 backs. Bal RBs have 80 touches in 2 games, in like 135 snaps. A wrinkle in this is Jax's defense and how it performs.
