said this on our AFC South preview, but I think this ends up being Tuten’s backfield as the season goes along. Especially if he gets a handle on the fumbles.

Bhayshul Tuten rushed eight times for 42 yards in the Jaguars’ Week 2 loss to the Bengals, adding two catches for 32 yards and a touchdown.
The rookie played sparingly in Week 1, but the trade of Tank Bigsby opened a path for his role to grow in his second outing. That is exactly what happened as Tuten mixed in as the clear RB2 behind Travis Etienne, who totaled 14 carries and two catches of his own. Tuten put his name on the map in the third quarter by juking Bengals defensive end Cam Sample out of his shoes on a red zone check-down from Trevor Lawrence. Tuten sped into the end zone after blowing by Sample. Though he’s still behind Etienne in the rotation, Tuten’s Week 2 breakout has him in the RB4 mix for the Jags’ Week 3 date with the Texans.

Would be amazing. Would also be a lot though. But he looked electric. He is what I wanted Treyveon to look like so far. I have him starting over Tyron Tracy as of right now.Surprised there's not more chatter about this guy. He looked good last week. Can we expect double digit touches going forward?

Yes, it's the standard going forward.Surprised there's not more chatter about this guy. He looked good last week. Can we expect double digit touches going forward?
I was waiting for him to break out but now I need him to breakout a little sooner, lets go TootySurprised there's not more chatter about this guy. He looked good last week. Can we expect double digit touches going forward?

LaQuint Allen quietly got 30% of the snaps (21) on Sunday. It only amounted to one target but Tuten, who had six carries and one target only played 17% of the offensive snaps (12).
Aberration or is this something we should be monitoring?

Yards per rush leaders when initial contact with a defender was met only one yard beyond the line of scrimmage or at/behind the line of scrimmage:
3.41 - Jonathan Taylor
3.33 - Javonte Williams
3.27 - Bhayshul Tuten

Jaguars rookie RB is pure lightning with the ball. “The athleticism is tantalizing, and he is one of a handful of backs leaguewide who can take a play 80 yards for a touchdown,” – @JasonKamlowsky

Do you have 30+ rush attempts and at least one gain of 10+ yards this season?
60 NFL players: Um yeah
Bhayshul Tuten: No
Jarrett Bailey
Kenneth Walker:
-10 carries, 34 yards
-1 catch 3 yards
Bijan Robinson
-19 carries, 170 yards
-6 catches, 68 yards
Walker had a higher PFF grade. Probably something wrong if that’s the conclusion that is made.

I swear PFF hasn’t been the same since that mass exodus of employees occurred from 2022 through August 2024.
I lean towards thinking this backfield will look like a full blown RBBC coming out the bye IF he's healthy enough for the workload with whatever is ailing his shoulder.
I will say I think the loss of Brenton Strange has impacted the entire running game and that's led to some dropoff in production from ETN so me to believe his role will look a lot more like a full blown RBBC is more about him and his ability, then ETN's drop off.
The Tuten love has gotten crazy. Considering picking him up in a short bench but I can’t see anything more than a RBBC
The whole offense seems so inconsistent and erratic that nothing is going to make usage or output the least bit predictable for anyone in DOOOOOOOVAL county.
I'm really not sure why you would say that. But is Tuten just a workout warrior type at this point?
Because for any metric, they dont include results. So far. I own him everywhere. I'm holding over this bye week and its not easy. But its fair to wonder if he's just metrics and measurable and not a player, he has not one highlight to hang your hat on.I'm really not sure why you would say that. But is Tuten just a workout warrior type at this point?
Opportunities have been his issue in an offense that has ETN and a designated passing down back but to my eye he's looked excellent when given a chance with some really eye opening movement/plays.
Also has some really strong metrics which I only know about because of someone I follow on X who has been pumping him up. Metrics could be described as a little cherry picking, but it's top 1 or 2 in the league kind of stuff for those cherry picked metrics.

If we are status quo out of the bye, its time to ask what are we waiting for an hoping for. It'll be week 10 and he wouldn't have been able to beat out Etienne.

He absolutely has some impressive highlights and his metrics do include results. Maybe not the results you want for your fantasy team but he produces when he's called upon.
I never expected him to beat out ETN or would consider that an indictment if he does not though I do expect him to start getting a larger share.
Not sure what kind of leagues you play when you ask what we waiting on but obviously in dynasty ETN is in the last year of his deal and I don't play in any leagues were a RB an injury away from being a league winner is available.
I don't mean to be rude when I say this, I just think your early expectations are out whack.
I mean, it could also mean benching Lawrence since he sucksI dont have it handy but I heard on a pod, Cohen's quote into or during the bye is "we've got to get to where we have our best players on the field"
Which most interpreted to mean Hunter but I guess could in theory mean Tuten.
But is Tuten just a workout warrior type at this point?
Can't say I have a great read. The dropoff in ETN the last few weeks is surprising but I also don't see anything concrete enough to expect Tuten to get some big increase or perform better. He hasnt touched the ball more than 5 times in the last month, isn't making explosive plays, isn't doing much in the passing game.I lean towards thinking this backfield will look like a full blown RBBC coming out the bye IF he's healthy enough for the workload with whatever is ailing his shoulder.

I don't think any of this is totally wrong. It's pretty close to what I think. But I've always underestimated the coaching dislike of Etienne. None of the insiders in the game seem to love him. The film guys don't. The data guys don't. The freaking college draftniks really didn't. The pros wanted him to run tons of routes on his pro day in an abnormal way, IIRC, because they were looking at him as maybe a hybrid receiver (that might have been standard operating procedure and I do not know that nor have an authoritative voice or knowledge of that).
But yeah, I can see where Hartitz is bent out of shape over the "Etienne, please move to the side here's the fourth-round rook" sentiment. I wonder what @Ilov80s thinks about this. I've always sort of deferred to him, and he's been, for the most part, generally correct if maybe a touch ebullient about ETN.
I think— I don't know what I think because I don't know Liam Coen from Adam and Eve and I have no idea other than from Tampa what he might do. I've always thought Etienne was golden until he wasn't. His drop-offs come hard and fast, and then there's no really coming back from them, in my experience.
eta* had to change a word because it changes the entire meaning of my post. Underestimated.
It would have been very interesting if they had Mac Jones but Lawrence is pretty safeI mean, it could also mean benching Lawrence since he sucksI dont have it handy but I heard on a pod, Cohen's quote into or during the bye is "we've got to get to where we have our best players on the field"

What’s to make anyone think that Tuten is one of those players?I dont have it handy but I heard on a pod, Cohen's quote into or during the bye is "we've got to get to where we have our best players on the field"

I’m in. I picked him up right before MNF where I could. Why the hell not.Had him, dropped him, spent to re-sign him.
Bit of a flag plant and a wishcast that he comes out of the bye with a bigger share of the work, has success, and then it's victory lap time.
Anyone out on this limb with me?
