RB Chase Brown, CIN (1 Viewer)

Pretty great night for the guy and honestly it could/should have been even bigger. It's clear he is the whole package and fully trusted on 3rd down in pass pro.

He is a league winner.
Looked electric in the open field.

Burrow looks his way on 2 key plays & he’s got a monster night. Well, monster-er.

I like Brown. He looked better last night than 13-42. That’s a surprising stat to me. 9-52 receiving isn’t bad, but it’s not great, either.

I’m a little surprised. He looked more effective than that.

I like him and am pleased as a 2x shareholder to see him progressing the way he has - but I felt like he showed minimal elusiveness in the open field. Maybe it was a few 'one off' type plays but particularly after a few of those little dumpoffs he caught, he was just instantly neutralized by the nearest defender. Loving the volume though and this was one of the tougher matchups I'm sure he'll face on paper the rest of the way though.

Cincy's run blocking is terrible and has been for years. I've always felt like Mixon was undervalued because he got so few lanes or chances to get going without a defender in his face. To me what Brown is doing is even more surprising because it seems like Cincy's whole offense is built on the passing game and the RBs get hung out to dry.

I am not saying Chase Brown sucks BY ANY MEANS, but I still think selling high is the right thing to do here. He's coming off playing 2 bottom-5 defenses and hasn't been all that efficiency wise. I also don't see the receiving workload being a sign of things to come at all. If anything, he should be pass blocking more.

Now, I feel the need to clarify, sell high means actually sell high. Not just sell. I saw Chase Brown and Zach Ertz for George Kittle on Wednesday. That's in line with what I'm saying. Brown is an RB2 and should be treated as such, but I think someone believes he's an RB1 going forward, that's where selling high comes in.

It’s not great? That’s PPR gold.

And context of doing what he did against a very good Ravens D, too.

The talk in here before the game was whether to bench him against them. I feel like that should be mentioned when looking at his find numbers.

To me it depends on your needs. Personally I need him more than I need to make a profit off of him.

It's not a very good Ravens defense. It's quite poor, in fact. 24th in points, 27th in yards. They have a "top" rush D but they have the 2nd fewest rush attempts against despite not having a bye yet (and I think that includes having also played one more game than everyone else because of last night. But I'm not going to verify that).

As you point out 9-52 is great in a PPR fantasy league but IRL it is very mediocre. I think that is rockaction's point.

I like your FF takes, fun to read and, generally, very well considered but... let's be real you, like me have our guys and we commit to them. @travdogg may be right about selling high on Brown. The efficiency has been meh and they probably ended their season last night.

I hope my league mates read your post and offers me Brown in a trade.

I'll give you Brown and Jayden Reed for McCaffrey.

but I felt like he showed minimal elusiveness in the open field
He literally broke a guy’s ankle the 1 time he got the ball in space.

No he didn't. Hamilton stepped on Gesicki's foot and it started slipped. Hamilton was on the ground before Brown even made his first move.

Freeze this one at 14 seconds. His ankle is turned before Brown has even secured the catch.

If I had McCaffrey I wouldn’t downgrade.

Kind of what I just said

Not efficiency-wise it isn’t.

He looked better than his stats.

That’s all I’ve got for you. I’m sure you’re thrilled he’s ascended, but it’s not like it was ascending the K2. He beat out a career backup.

He looks quick and fast. He’s good. He’s not one of the top backs in the league yet.

Never said he was one of the top backs in the league.

Not once.

I’m thrilled with his production for what I paid. He’s the zero RB home run.

He took on a massive workload then 4 days later did it again. I wouldn’t expect that much efficiency.

What I said was he’s a FF RB1 with that production. Considering the Bengals quality of OL, I’m not judging Brown too harshly on his inefficiency.

And 4 days after handling 32 touches.
I don’t get it. 100 APY & 9 catches. & a GL carry + TD. Is that not a RB1 for FF?

it’s weird seeing a player hit & everyone can’t wait to dump him.
I love what he is doing, I just wish he was a little more efficient with his volume than 157 year old Kareem Hunt.
OL
OL
And
OL

chiefs OL >>>> Bengals OL.

Put Brown on the chiefs and he’ll suddenly be a lot more efficient.

Okay. Can we get that done by tomorrow?

Gimme the Chief’s number and I’ll make the call.

Dwain McFarland
Chase Brown has averged 23.5 fantasy points since the Zack Moss injury.

Snaps: 83%
Attempts: 92%
Routes: 66%
Targets: 17%
Utilization Score: 9.9 (out of 10)

Averaging 28 opportunities in a high-end offense is hard to beat. Could challenge for RB1 overall the rest of the way.

I love me some Chase. I heard last night that the Bengals pass the 3rd most in the redzone. I wish Brown could bury more goal line tuddies but you can't be mad at his production these days.

#Bengals HC Zac Taylor talks about managing Chase Brown’s touches

“We’ve got to find ways to manage it. I like for Chase to touch the ball as much as possible. He’s got the potential to be explosive on almost every play”

Let Herbert handle the dirty short yardage stuff, sure. But I want Brown getting most of the touches at RB.
Right. I want 20 touches a game, not 20 touches a half like Josh Jacobs last weekend. That kind of stuff doesn't lead to longevity. I'm in dynasty, so that's what I'm looking for.

This guy is 2023 3rd round rookie draft gold, man. Way out-performing Charbs who I regrettably took in the 1st lol

Continuity is key for this offense heading into 2025 so I can see Brown continuing to improve and have a solid role for 2025 as well. As a bellcow back though, I'm not too sure. I can see him being a 14-16 touch guy like Jaylen Warren plus

This dude's got a little bit of CMC to his game. Premier PPR baller.

4 of his last 5 games he's had at least 100+ from scrimmage, 5 targets, and 5 receptions.
Doesn’t hurt to play with one of the best QBs and wr duos in the league too. Brown is certainly making the most of his opportunity and it is silly to think Brown could’ve started the season hotter earlier
