RB Chase Brown, CIN (10 Viewers)

FBG downgrades Chase Brown after 23 touches and a TD. This makes no sense whatsoever.
I can see it if its just a full Bengals offense downgrade. Like OL concerns or something, but even then, I think it'd be a pretty small downgrade.

I think the downgrade comes from something Sigmund Bloom has been saying and it's happened to other teams in the past. The Bengals D is so bad that they can't get off the field and the Bengals' offensive players have fewer plays to score points and they're in worse situations, especially the running game because they're forced to pass more due to being behind. Add that to the problem that C. Brown wasn't efficient in his touches and you've got the downgrade.

In fact, I just looked and that's exactly what Sigmund listed as his reason (the defense).

I said (and this is only me) that 21 rushing attempts for 43 yards is not a great game. The touches are nice, but Brown was inefficient.

Brown rated about RB12-RB13 in preseason rankings. He’s going to be the top 1-2 starting RB on the vast majority of teams. What’s to downgrade here…??

Yeah, MAC 32 was on it and I didn't disagree. Cleveland does not have a bad defense and actually kind of made the Bengals look terrible. The Bengals were extraordinarily lucky to come away with a W. Garrett's hit on Burrow summed up the day.

eta* No, wait, you clearly do mean Cleveland is tough. That's obvious if one follows the conversation temporally. Yeah, you're right. Chase will be fine.

Agree. CLE D is pretty damn good.

Have a feeling that a JAX team that looked pretty mediocre against a terrible CAR D is going to get slammed by the Cinci offense this week.

Man, you're probably right but Cincinnati all start slow. I think it doesn't matter if they played a few series in preseason; it takes them a while. We will see. I'd love a shootout. I have Ja'Marr Chase and Thomas.

are people doubting Jamar Chase (2-26) or Higgins (3-33)? Brown didn't even have a bad game...not a thing to worry about.
Yeah look at all their skilled players (who are all studs) The Browns have a good D, its a rivalry game, no reason to worry about any of the Bengals studs IMO.

Brown isn't going to hold up with 20+ touches a week. I would love to be wrong, but I don't see it
How many did he have a week last year after he became the featured RB?

Lots of them. But he did end up hurt so there's that.

Looking at the game logs, a good reminder that things are not all they seem for the ROS.
Didn’t he get hurt trying not to score a TD to kill clock?

He was a workhorse back throughout his college career. He led the big ten in carries in 2022. Every RB has durability concerns, but he would be high on my list of guys that can handle it if anyone can.

I don’t find concerns about his durability remotely compelling.

It's been a rough start against a tough Browns D and a game where Burrows went down, shifting the offense's script. I'm not ready to throw dirt of Brown's gave but it's not an inspiring start to the season.

Lack of targets is concerning.

Doesn't look like something in Browning's repertoire, and the one time they go to it, its there in a big way

The bigger problem is potentially months without Joe Butrow
I would hope they’d lean a little more I to the running game but what made Chase so valuable were all those Joe shallow throws. I was reading Browning doesn’t really take those often? Any truth?

Considering browning snipes goal line tds we are in major trouble and this guy is in the running for early round bust, and potentially losing time and snaps. I am a fan of his but no burrow is just brutal
