Wouldn't change my thoughts too much. Brown can't do it all. Somebody will need to relive him from time to time.Only one more hurdle… a Dobbins signing

I agree if it was a late round draft pick, but you're probably wrong about Dobbins.Wouldn't change my thoughts too much. Brown can't do it all. Somebody will need to relive him from time to time.Only one more hurdle… a Dobbins signing
We don't know what's between Dobbins' ears. Plus, the backups you mentioned aren't exactly great backups IMO. I think Tahj Brooks can be a good receiving option out of the backfield and is a solid backup. They're not signing Dobbins, they have Moss, Perine and new guy as backups, geez. Not to mention Dobbins is gonna want to sign somewhere with more opportunity.
Pretty sure Brooks also graded out as one of, if not the, best blocking RB of this class. I know that's one reason why Waldman loved him.We don't know what's between Dobbins' ears. Anything's possible maybe he'll join the Marines, just try to think logically. They went and got Perine, brought Moss back and drafted a guy in the 6th round, their stable seems set for the season barring an injury. We don't know what's between Dobbins' ears. I can't get excited about the Cincy RB room after Brown. As for Dobbins, I could see Dallas or Chicago come calling.Anything's possible maybe he'll join the Marines, just try to think logically. if he stays healthy sure why not.How confident are you that CBrown will have 1200 total yards and 10 TD?
Health is key, but the opportunity is there for that & more. How confident are you that CBrown will have 1200 total yards and 10 TD?
That seems doable to me, though I'd argue its on the higher end. My issues with Brown are mostly ceiling based, as he'll never be the focus of that offense, and I wasn't all that impressed by his play, so I think there is no real long-term stability. How confident are you that CBrown will have 1200 total yards and 10 TD?
$13 is only 5% of your cap. As much as I am not a huge Brown guy, I think he's worth that price.I have a choice to make in my salary cap league. I have a franchise tag available which means I can assign it to a player currently not under contract for up to 3 years (longest contract length). It can be a 1, 2, or 3 year contract. The cost is $13 (out of $250). The average of the top 5 RB salaries is $45 for comparison sake.
Do I give Brown a 3 yr extension at $13? My other RB's are Jordan Mason ($3/2026) and Tony Pollard ($5/2025). I also have Charbonet and Laube on the TS.
The risk is last year was a fluke and I am eating the contract for two more years after this one. I am fine giving him the contract if he will be a top 15 RB for the next couple years.
The drawback is I lose my franchise tag for the duration of the contract length. So I wouidn't have it available next year with Stroud's contract is up. I also could give it to Kyler Murray ($41) but since I have Stroud ($20/2025) and Caleb ($10/2026) under contract I don't think I need to give it to Murray. This is a SF league with 6 pts for all TD's so QB is really important.$13 is only 5% of your cap. That'd give you all of Brown/Mason/Pollard at about 8% of your cap.
What if you trade him, do you get the tag option back? The drawback is I lose my franchise tag for the duration of the contract length. Nope. Once the contract is awarded it stays in effect until the contract runs out. So if I gave Brown a 3 yr tag I wouldn't have my tag available again until the 2028 seasonWhat if you trade him, do you get the tag option back?
You could tag him for 1 year and then tag a qb next summer right?Nope. Once the contract is awarded it stays in effect until the contract runs out. So if I gave Brown a 3 yr tag I wouldn't have my tag available again until the 2028 seasonWhat if you trade him, do you get the tag option back?
Yes but a tag for one year really doesn't do anything because I can just resign for a single year for 2025 and it would be no different. So really the franchise is for 2 or more years in a practical sense. You could tag him for 1 year and then tag a qb next summer right?Nope. If you re-sign him is it for $13 as well or more? It is a good deal and worth the risk IF the QB stuff you mentioned wasn't there. That changes things, especially in a SF league where all TDs are 6pts. You want to lock your highest scoring players like QBs up for a better deal than full market price. At least that is how I see it not knowing the specific ins and outs of your league.Yes but a tag for one year really doesn't do anything because I can just resign for a single year for 2025 and it would be no different. 5. When discussing Burrow’s receiving threats, don’t forget Chase Brown who averaged 4.8 catches over his last 8 games.
“I feel like I can’t improve my receiving ability enough,” he said. “We’ve got a pass-first offense and I know my role. I’m going to try to make a ton of plays”
He put up 1,350 and 11 while splitting time with Zack Moss for the first six games last year (really it was the first five games as Moss' participation dropped significantly after week five and was done by week 9).How confident are you that CBrown will have 1200 total yards and 10 TD?
I don’t see last year as a fluke at all, but then I was one of the guys pushing the Brown breakout early on. Yes, you definitely were. You helped convince me to move a little early in him in my redraft and I'm glad I did.I was one of the guys pushing the Brown breakout early on.

While @travdogg said he wasn’t impressed by Brown last year, I thought he looked electric at times, especially as a receiver. Burrow seems to like him as a dump off, and he broke a few nice runs.
His workload might be slightly reduced, but I actually thought he was a bit overworked last year.
$13/$250 is so affordable it seems like a low risk proposition regardless.
Selling or buying?Crap, that’s a real endorsement while I’m working on deal for him.

From free agency, I could end up with Hurts, Jacobs and AJ Brown if I do this deal. That’s the cap advantage.
Brown is a great value. I hope people continue to downplay him.I don’t see last year as a fluke at all, but then I was one of the guys pushing the Brown breakout early on. Yes you do this. Top 5 RB's go for $45 and you are keeping a guy in a great offense who can produce just outside top 5 for 1/3 the price? Absolutely.I have a choice to make in my salary cap league. From recent article:
Chase Brown, Cincinnati (ADP: RB11)
From Week 9 on last season, Brown was fantasy football's fifth-ranked running back. Brown had 1,350 total yards last season, caught 54 passes, and scored 11 total touchdowns. Most importantly, he's the unquestioned three-down back for one of the NFL's most potent offenses. As a third-round pick, Brown is larceny--and he could be the ideal Hero RB for a team that wants an elite wideout with their first pick.
Tis the season of the puff piece

Why Dan Pitcher’s Year 2 continuity is the Bengals’ secret weapon for ascension
The offensive coordinator looks to stay a step ahead of defenses in his use of Ja'Marr Chase and to make life easier on Joe Burrow.www.nytimes.com
“Now, we’ve got a guy,” Pitcher said. “He’s a top-10 back.”
“I can see the running back position turning more into a receiver back position,” Brown said. “You see CeeDee (Lamb), Deebo (Samuel), these guys taking run plays. Even Ja’Marr. I need to keep my game as versatile as possible so I can be trusted like a chess piece. If you need me to catch, I can. You want me on third down to protect Joe, I can. You want me to run trap, you want me to run power, I can. You want me to run zone, I can do all of that.”
And the plan is to have him do all of that.
That would be pretty cool, his twin brother won a Super Bowl this past season with the Eagles. Both good old Canadians and from local(for me) London Ontario.Tis the season of the puff piece

This is one of these greatest things I’ve ever heard said by a running back I sought to acquire via trade. This man has the kind winning attitude that I love to see. I hope he wins a championship title before the end of his career.

Just got him at 4.05 in a 1 QB FFPC startup. Surprised he was available there for all the reasons you state above.Chase Brown
Brown was a borderline first-round pick in fantasy value terms after Zack Moss went out last year. Fantasy drafters are still letting him drop to the third round. Was it that the Bengals brought back Moss? He took a pay cut from $3.4 to $1.7 million, with only $375,000 guaranteed. He's not even a sure thing to make the roster, and the Bengals certainly aren't signalling optimism about his outlook. Samaje Perine? The Bengals guaranteed $400,000 of his $1.8 million salary. That doesn't scream "core contributor". Sixth-round pick Tahj Brooks is a Matt Waldman favorite, a great late dynasty rookie pick, and a potential important player in redraft leagues if Brown goes down. But he's no threat to Brown's status as the feature back. This is a high-octane offense, and Brown is heavily involved in the passing game. Brown's ADP allows you to wait until the early third to take your RB1 and still feel like you can hang with the teams that took running backs in the top five.

I am a huge Brown honk but I would have sold him for that haul. Nice job. He's an acquire and sell at the same time. I have him in several leagues and sold him in one. I got the 1.05 (Henderson), 1.13 (Burden) and a 2026 2nd. In the leagues I have Brown I'm perfectly satisfied in holdiing.
