I don't think you are looking at this objectively. Carson had 50 offensive snaps (72%) 32 rushing attempts for 102 yards (3.2 ypc) and a TD. Penny had 14 offensive snaps (14%) 3 carries 5 yards (1.7 ypc) neither is a big enough sample size for ypc to be meaningful, but even though your argument seems to be that Carson is inefficient, he is still more efficient than Penny has been, so in a relative sense, the Seahawks are not making a mistake or missing out on anything by playing Carson almost exclusively over Penny right now.

The only thing that really matters for fantasy is the opportunity and Carson is getting that right now.

I think it is too early to turn the page here as Penny may improve and get his shot to be the man later on in the season. If Carson keeps getting the ball this much, he might break down, then Penny will get his chance. At least Penny is still playing more than Mike Davis or Prosise.

For now though it is all day Yeti romping which is a beautiful thing.

I believe I am very clearly looking at it objectively. I’m not searching for reasons to legitimize Carson. He’s an athlete and decent between the tackles. Not special. If Seattle gets a positive game script (likely against Arizona) he could indeed see 20 carries again but to consider this overly impressive is not correct. I never once suggested what Penny did or has done is legit and only spoke on Carson specifically. His performance was not special and I would hope any back in the NFL could do what he did with over 30 carries. The hopes for Carson lie solely in Schottenheimers hands and game script. Should they be in a losing game his value is nill. Considering his schedule was bad (but now better due to injuries and ability to actually evaluate defenses) I still don’t hold out hope for a great deal of positive scripts. He’s an ugly RB2 but so are a lot of guys right now. 

I still hold out hope for Penny. CMC had a YPC <3.0 the first part of last year. Something is a miss right now though. He did not see the field after that fumble and it did look to me that they didn’t want to have Carson carry it 30 times but took the B.B. route. Penny has been wholly disappointing and there isn’t much else to say about it and I think I was previously adamant this is Carson’s job and that Penny can not be comfortably rostered in redraft. Maybe I’m crazy, but I’m pretty sure I typed that out.

 
I watched the entire Seahawk game yesterday and seen parts of the other 2 games. 

Carson is by far the superior back right now and probably for this year. I also feel like guys Barkely, Zeke and Gurley would have a tough time average 4.0 ypc behind this line. 

I also feel like this is the ceiling for Carson a guy that can catch az few passes, and under the right circumstances could average around 4 ypc.

 I don't know much about Penny, but the fact he was regarded as a high pick(it seems like most people think he was taken to early, but was still a day 2 or 3 pick) so his ceiling is probably higher than Carson's, but he is going to have to work to get the job because Carson is serviceable.

You have been looking at it objectively, its just the tone of some of your statements that makes it sound like your not. No biggie.

 
Carson is legit. The rest of the Seahawks, yeah, they are too. But the team as a whole...not so much.  Carson is a guy that, if he were on a team like the Vikings or Bucs or Broncos, etc, he would be a hot FF commodity.

 
I don't trust Lyin' Cheatin' Pete. Next game he's going to give the rock to Penny because Carson will be too tired from rushing the QB on defense.

 
Chris Carson (hip) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

Carson came out of Sunday's game with a hip injury, though his participation on Wednesday, albeit in a limited capacity, would suggest it's only a minor setback. The second-year ball-carrier took control of the Seahawks' backfield in Week 3, out-touching teammate Rashaad Penny by a lopsided 34-3 margin. Assuming he can shake off this hip injury, Carson will be an acceptable, volume-based RB2 against the Cardinals in Week 4.

Chris Carson (questionable, hip) is expected to be "fine" for Sunday's game with the Cardinals.

This comes after coach Pete Carroll called Carson a game-time decision. Carson's limited practice week was more than maintenance, but all signs point to him playing. In a matchup with a positive gameflow script, Carson's in a good spot to build off his 34-touch breakout in Week 4.

At least we know well before the afternoon games. 

Now, I just need to figure out if they're gonna run Penny enough to warrant starting in fantasy

 
No wonder they drafted another rb, Carson is made of glass. 32 carries  last week,  sorry that's his allotment  for the year.

 
He's shown to handle large loads somewhat in the past, just got nicked up. Probably tweaked something in warmups, assuming he's ok he'll start next week. Of course, his workload will be in question.

His stat line yesterday was beastly, especially considering the opponent. 

I'm sure Pete will give him next week off for adequate rest, maybe line him up as an upman on kickoffs or something. 

 
Recently traded for him on the cheap in 2 leagues. People don't seem to like him since he's not a "name guy" but if there's one constant on the Seahawks, it's that they're going to run the football. 120 yards from scrimmage his last two games on a team that runs more than almost any other team in the league.

Kind of hard to bench a guy who's posted consecutive back-to-back 100 yard games.

Carson missed Week 4's game with a hip injury, so this is especially concerning. Friday's practice will shed some light on Carson's status for the Seahawks Week 9 home game against the Chargers. If Carson is unable to suit up, then Mike Davis and notorious first-rounder Rashaad Penny, who didn't receive a touch in Week 8, will be in line for more work. Coach Pete Carroll expects Chris Carson (questionable, hip) to play in Week 9 against the Chargers.

There was some concern over Carson's status after a mid-week downgrade, but his limited Thursday practice looks more rest related than a setback. Coming off a massive Week 8 workload, Carson is a locked-in RB2 against a Chargers defense that was gashed for 163 rushing yards before their bye.

An idea of how bad I feel is I got a no trading allowed league with nothing on the waiver wire that offers insurance and with bye weeks I got to start McGuire in the early games or leave the spot open for Carson and risk a possible zero. Based on what I know right now I'm starting McGuire.

Bummer, because I just picked him up in a trade and was looking forward to having him for a bye fill in.

 
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Chris Carson (hip) is a "game-time decision."

Carson will test out his injured hip before the game to see if he can play. Coach Pete Carroll expected Carson to play when he spoke to the media on Friday, but he can be overly optimistic when it comes to injuries. Carson plays in a late-afternoon kickoff, so teams need to have a backup ready in case he sits. Mike Davis is available in 82 percent of Yahoo leagues and would be a plug-and-play RB2 if Carson sits.

I almost hope he's inactive at this point. Have M. Davis on the bench anyways. 

Man, this guy would be a locked in RB1/RB2 if he could just stay healthy. Looks so damn good every time he runs the ball.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Seahawks are "optimistic" Chris Carson (questionable, hip) plays in Week 9 against the Chargers.

The Seahawks plan to take Carson's status down to pre-game warmups, but this confirms he's on track to suit up. Carson practiced all week through his hip issue. He looks likely to play barring a setback, but the Seahawks may scale back Carson's carries at less than 100 percent. Nov 4 - 8:45 AM

Coach Pete Carroll said Chris Carson (thigh, hip) is "sore" and won't "do much" at practice this week.

Carson is believed to be battling a new thigh issue after having his leg wrapped following his exit from Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He was previously said to have a hip or groin problem. Either way, it sounds like Carson will be looking at a questionable tag for Week 10 against the Rams in L.A.
