At this point, nobody should be shocked if he doesn't see the field again in 2020. It's not like they're competing for a playoff spot.
Christian McCaffrey (thigh) didn't practice Wednesday.
Coach Matt Rhule has already said he expects McCaffrey to miss this week. Returning in Week 16 is a best case scenario for McCaffrey.

Christian McCaffrey (thigh) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice.
Coach Matt Rhule has already said he expects McCaffrey to be inactive Saturday. Fantasy players should continue crossing their fingers that McCaffrey (somehow) returns for Week 16.

Christian McCaffrey (thigh) is considered doubtful for Week 15 against the Packers.
CMC didn't practice Thursday, sealing the deal that he would miss yet another game. His absence means Mike Davis will continue as the team's workhorse back against a Green Bay rush defense that has been exposed a few times this season. Davis will be an RB2 against the Packers with PPR upside.

Yeah I managed to make it here, too. Yeah he will probably play. This is a redraft and we have already split the prize money so it is just for pride.Well, I made it to my league championship minus CMC and Mixon for the vast majority of the season.
Who thinks that McCaffery will re-emerge just in time in Week 16?
Any other survivors?![]()
I also made an agreement to split the prize money, per my challenger's offer. He has a young daughter -- just over a year old -- and likely needs the money much more than I do. (I've been very blessed this year.) In fact, if he beats me, I plan on reverting back to the original payout (80/20), which would make me feel pretty good. (Generosity is never completely selfless.) I'm a sucker for the Holiday spirit!Yeah I managed to make it here, too. Yeah he will probably play. This is a redraft and we have already split the prize money so it is just for pride.
So he is definitely playing now that it doesn't matter.

That said, this is my 3rd straight final appearance. I've lost the previous two, despite being a heavy favorite both seasons. I just want the win, baby! Otherwise I might have to change my team name to pay homage to the 90's Buffalo Bills. Perhaps something incorporating HC Levy's name?![]()
I made it with my top 2 picks being CMC and Chubb. While trading for Golladay right before he got hurt.Well, I made it to my league championship minus CMC and Mixon for the vast majority of the season.

Christian McCaffrey (thigh) did not practice Wednesday.
His chances of making a triumphant return to Carolina's lineup -- and fantasy lineups -- is looking as bleak as ever. Afflicted by a series of injuries this season, we likely won't see CMC on the field until the start of the 2021 season. He would still have a shot to suit up this week against Washington if he could get in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Mike Davis will see another start if CMC is inactive. He would be a high-end RB2 in PPR formats.

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said Christian McCaffrey (thigh) is doubtful to play this week against Washington.
Rhule said CMC would have to practice before the team can consider playing him, and he hasn't been able to get on the practice field with various injuries -- most recently a thigh issue. Fantasy managers should assume Mike Davis will handle another starter's workload this week against Washington. McCaffrey is a long shot to return for Week 17.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule said he would "lean towards" Christian McCaffrey (thigh) not playing in the team's regular season finale against the Saints.
We know, Matt. Rhule has consistently shown the glass to be half empty for McCaffrey's outlook the past three weeks, inevitably leading to the latter (eventually) getting ruled out for Sunday's regular season finale. Fantasy players who are sick enough to continue into Week 17 should expect Mike Davis to again lead the way with Rodney Smith handling a handful of carries behind him. McCaffrey will return at full strength in 2021.

Christian McCaffrey (quad) is out for Week 17 against the Saints.
It was a completely lost season for fantasy's No. 1 overall pick, as CMC appeared in just three games thanks to a laundry list of different ailments. He hasn't played since Week 9 and finished the year with a 59-225-5 rushing line and 17-149-1 receiving output. He was obviously extremely effective when on the field and should be 100% for a mostly normal offseason. The Panthers erred more on the side of caution with his latest injury in a year where they were never in contention for a playoff spot. McCaffrey signed a four-year extension in the offseason and is inked through 2025. He turns 25 next summer.

At some point, they're really hedging against a hold out. I don't think any team is fooling themselves. They all know the risk. I wonder what the economics are of paying to avoid a hold out while spreading that money over years. Probably interesting. But I don't think teams are blind anymore. Twenty-five. That's the age when the wheels fall off. Running backs are some of the best youth and high school players (and collegiate players) but the human body can't withstand punishment like running backs take. Listen to the mics on the field and hear all the crunching with every hit. It's a car wreck out there.Yet another example of why it usually doesn't make any sense to invest a ton of salary cap in the RB position in today's NFL. Gurley, Barkley, CMac, Elliott, and so many others. Next year the wheels probably fall off Derrick Henry.
Christian McCaffrey restructured his contract.
McCaffrey converted some of his base salary into a signing bonus, which opened up $5.6 million in salary cap for the Panthers this offseason. Lots of veterans will be doing this with the cap tightening. McCaffrey was seen doing private workouts recently and appears to be on track for a mostly healthy offseason. With Curtis Samuel and Mike Davis hitting free agency, there's a bankable path to 300-plus touches for McCaffrey in 2021. He's in the 1.01 conversation in all fantasy formats.

Panthers OC Joe Brady told reporters Thursday that his mindset is unchanged on Christian McCaffrey’s role in the offense despite an injury plagued 2020.
Music to fantasy managers’ ears. McCaffrey saw an absurd 97 percent snap rate in Week 1 of 2020, his only fully healthy game of the season. Upon returning from an ankle injury in Week 9, he had a ridiculous 23 percent target share, despite playing only 71 percent of snaps. Playing under the offensive coordinator that propelled Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a first round selection in the NFL draft, and with well-rounded backup Mike Davis out of town, McCaffrey could be an absolute force in PPR leagues. McCaffrey looks locked in as 2021’s 1.01 in all formats.

Sam Darnold doing a pretty good job today of getting the ball out when pressure is coming. This just in: he has a pretty good safety valve outlet in No. 22.

Another 100 reception season incoming for Christian McCaffrey?
Consensus number one and I have questions…
…the offensive line is bad, Darnold is a question mark….
…will he really put up 1500-2000 total yards and 12-20 TDs?
… will the extended time off help or hurt?
Cook and Derrick Henry are beastsAnd this is precisely the reason I hope I draw #1 pick NOWHERE this year. I am not much liking my teams in most any mock where I go off in the top 3 picks or so. Seems like I get stuck with bull#### at wide out.
But, lets be honest, if you don't get CMC at #1, then who do you get?![]()
Cook and Derrick Henry are beasts
Henry doesn’t really catch, but I could see him getting a lot of scoring chances
Have a superflex draft coming up with the #2 pick and I'm hoping #1 takes CMC. He ruined my season last year in my main league and for some reason I sensed the injuries coming as soon as he got paid and started living on Instagram with his model girlfriend.
Even without him CMC, I had a drafted team of Mahomes-Taylor-Montgomery-Ridley-Diontae but missed the playoffs as (statistically impossibly) I had a 4 week stretch that I scored the 2nd most points in the league every week but went 0-4 as I faced the week winner each week. Irrational I know but CMC will forever represent bad juju for me.

Not too far-out there but Saquon Barkley WILL have another serious leg injury this season. Actually said this to my league mates during the draft last year. His injuries seem to be byproduct of how he runs/cuts. Whenever he makes a a move, his legs are planted while stretched out more than I see in other RBs. That both puts so much stress on joints and tendons and gives a leveraged target for defenders to hit. Also for whatever, he often seems to have one of his dangling in high and extended in the air during tackles.got any other bold predictions from your world famous gut calls? Lol
If it happens again this year then perhaps I’ll believe you
It happened to me! KDS style, 1st name pulled took 1.02Finally my home league draft is today. I took CMC last year and still made the championship round. Because I took James Robinson in the 19th round.
But we drew straws and I got the 1.02. Dude at 1.01 put out a cryptic message saying he is going to shock the FF world tonight at 1.01.
I doubt it but we shall see.
Having a leg off the ground is an important part of the physical act of running. Also for whatever, he often seems to have one of his dangling in high and extended in the air during tackles.
You must have not read the "dangling high and extended in the air" part. Seriously, while being tackled he frequently has a leg raised in the air at a 45 degree angle.Having a leg off the ground is an important part of the physical act of running.
C’mon.

I wasn’t being patronizing at all. I just don’t see a legitimate analysis of Barkley there.Could have fooled me with your facetious and patronizing response. You don't have to agree. History will prove who was in right in 4 months time.
You as well. And if I'm forced into taking CMC on Monday I'll be rooting for him with you every week.I wasn’t being patronizing at all. I just don’t see a legitimate analysis of Barkley there.
Good luck with your leagues.
Chubba is legit insurance.Did you guys draft Chuba as insurance? I just backed up CMAC and Swift with Chuba/Williams in my FFPC draft just now
Probably a good idea.Did you guys draft Chuba as insurance? I just backed up CMAC and Swift with Chuba/Williams in my FFPC draft just now
Probably a good idea.
Someone drafted Chubba super early in my redraft league, so nice job getting your handcuffs.
If CMC goes down it’ll like be a combo of Chubba & Royce Freeman, the latter of whom has been pretty terrible with the Broncos. Possible a change of scenery / offensive scheme is a better fit for Royce, but Chubba has looked very good this preseason. He’s the preferred handcuff IMO.
Chubba could well be that guy. That's the thing. There is no Mike Davis 2.0 if CMC goes down again.
