RB Chuba Hubbard, CAR (2 Viewers)

Dowdle a better start (assuming Chuba doesn't play) this week over someone like Carter (juicy matchup vs Titans but unknown workload)?

Dave Canales says RB Chuba Hubbard (quad) is chomping at the bit to play this week. So how do you balance that with having his replacement, Rico Dowdle, being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week if both are ready?
"Champing at the bit" describes a state of impatience, restlessness, and eager anticipation to start something, often due to being delayed. The phrase originates from the literal image of a horse nervously and impatiently chewing on the bit in its mouth, waiting for a race or ride to begin. While "chomping" at the bit is a widely used variation, particularly in American English, "champing" is considered the original and more precise form.

Certainly we are all creatures of the weekly ups/downs of player performance and can get attached easily to the narrative of the week.

Dowdle was great in Week 5.

Chuba also had huge games in 2024 where he eclipsed 160 YFS 3x scoring 4 TD's in those games. This resulted in a contract extension. In those games he also averaged 29 touches/game.

Point being is that to Canales's point...it's good to have two RB's, particularly on an offense that doesn't look to prolific again thru the air. My guess is that the comfort zone for Chuba is between 15-17 touches/game which is kind of where he's been this year, which has also been behind pace for what he showed last year because they didn't have Dowdle.

(13 mins ago) Hubbard (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Dallas.
Hubbard missed every practice for a second straight week, leaving Rico Dowdle as the leader of Carolina's backfield after his 200-yard rushing performance in last Sunday's win over the Dolphins. Dowdle gets another favorable matchup this coming Sunday, facing his former team in a game that's tied for the second-highest over/under (49.5) of Week 6.
