RB Chuba Hubbard, CAR (2 Viewers)

now questionable with a knee injury
It was estimated yesterday. They didn’t practice on Xmas.

Today he practiced in limited fashion. That’s an upgrade from yesterday’s estimated DNP.

If it was anything serious I doubt he would have practiced.

It’s Xmas week. I take all injury reporting with a huge grain of salt because it’s typically a very light work-week for everyone, NFL players included.
Placed on IR can we consider it serious now? :ROFLMAO:

.5 ppr down Kamara and Hubbard
Who would you roll with
Blackshear
Kendre Miller
Allgier

I started Williams at qb Thursday. If I somehow win this it’s a Xmas miracle

Well RIP me in one championship game. I had Charbonnet in my flex and now with Chuba on IR, I can't Shift Charbs out to put in Devonta Smith. I'll have to pick up someone like J Williams.

It aas a good run...

This is why you never play someone in the flex from a Thursday game
Agree 100%. Is an my starting lineups every week and make sure I move all my early game starters out of flex spots. I’ll even go so far as to put my 10am PST Sunday starts out of flex and my 1pm PST starts into flex.

But I mainly came here to say that I’m in one league championship largely due to hitting on Chuba late in the draft. Frustrated to lose him now but I wouldn’t be here without him.

Questionable.

Anyone know if it's anything significant?

Dowdle is hanging out there on many wires, although NE's rush D is pretty good. It's the pass D that is lousy.

Calf, but has been practicing though limited.

I’d have to believe if it were a significant injury he wouldn’t be practicing. Most teams don’t mess around with calf strains.

I can't believe I have to start Jeanty tomorrow because of this calf. What I really can't believe about that is that I'm dreading starting dynasty 1.01 RB by consensus.

Hmmmm. Can't put my finger on his value rest of year. Have a chance to acquire him. People think Rico gonna start eating more?

Doesn't seem serious. Haven't seen anything indicating this is a big deal.

Sure it's a big deal. Questionable tags are generally very correlated with a dip in fantasy production. That's a pretty standard adjustment. I forget how much, though. Be nice if I knew.

The effect of a questionable tag on a fantasy RB projection isn’t fixed; it depends on the player, team history, and injury type. But there are some practical rules of thumb that projection models (and sharp players) use:

📊 Historical Impact of "Questionable" Tags

  • Most “questionable” players suit up: Historically, 65–75% of players tagged as questionable on Friday end up playing on Sunday.
  • When they do play, RBs average 5–15% fewer fantasy points than their non-injured baseline (depending on the injury type).
  • High-usage RBs (bellcows) suffer the steepest hit, because teams sometimes lighten their workload.

⚖️ Rule-of-Thumb Deduction

  • Minor injury (illness, non-limiting) → deduct ~0 points.
  • Soft-tissue (hamstring, groin, ankle sprain) → deduct ~1.5–3 points from projection.
  • Major but playable (knee, shoulder, rib pain) → deduct ~3–5 points.
  • If there’s real risk of re-injury / pitch count, some models cut expected snaps by 20–30%.

🧮 Example Application

Say an RB is projected for 15.0 PPR points

Minor questionable (likely to play at full speed): keep him 15.0.
  • Moderate soft-tissue concern: 12.5–13.5.
  • Major concern with usage limits: 10–12.

ChatGPT is amazing lol.

Interesting. I guess on average there's an impact.

I personally wouldn't sit Hubbard if I had other solid options because of this questionable tag. Just haven't heard any coachspeak or other indicating this is a severe issue. That said, I WOULD sit him because of NE's run D.

Yeah, and I've got Jeanty going against Chicago, so there are two immovable forces at work. Do I risk it? I think I do.

Yeah ChatGPT is interesting but there are so many errors. It rried to interest me in Brevin Jordan this morning. I'm like, he was crying earlier this year when ihis season ended, Mr. Computer.

But I've seen many variations over the years of the questionable tag on a particular day and of a particular severity, etc.

I'm not sure I see him getting less touches, they just won 30-0 at home, they pull off an upset in New England and this team is gonna start rallying hard on offense
Young has looked alright at times, any kind of pass attack that opens up the run game is a positive
Coker will be coming back in a couple weeks and taking over the slot WR spot and that is a major part of this coaching staff's offense, they like to exploit the slot when they can
I think things might get better for the panthers further into the season, at least offensively

Pats
Phins
Cowboys
Jets...next 4 games before they face Buffalo and some other tough opponents like the Packers, Niners and Rams
They also close Weeks 16-17-18 with TB-SEA-TB, those are not juicy match ups
I would think about trading after one of these softer match ups where he hits 15-20+ in PPR

I have no take on this specific situation, but since they got rid of the probably tag a few years ago, I am not sure how much stock to put into any historical data on the questionable tag’s effect on production at this point.

Awesome point and would not have thought of it, but one quick rebuttal is that we’re old and that happened nearly a decade ago (2016) and there has most likely been a new study with a sufficient sample size.

But dude, that’s still an excellent point and I will have to look for a new one and verify that it fits the bill.

(Or I could be lazy and kind of skip it.)

well in the scope of the entire universe, that’s nothing….damn, did not realize it had been that long though. I still wonder how predictive the questionable tags can really be when it’s probably anywhere from maybe 45-93% or something.

(That's another good point.)
