RB D’Andre Swift, CHI (2 Viewers)

Curb Alert:

Free Lions home jerseys about to go to Goodwill

  • Stafford 9 home blue
  • Hockenson 88 home blue
  • Swift 32 alternate powder blue*
*think the Chinese knockoff factory mixed up Chargers with Lions that day, you get what you pay for ($14)
Oh, Miss Jessie, from nfljerseysupply, how much I miss you honey. We made some fantastic business together. And I hold no grudges for the Donald Driver nameplate being ridiculously off centered, or Ron Dayne's being upside down. I got over it sweatpea.

I got four for like $60 and three came out perfect. I attempted to contact them about the Swift jersey but damned if I could figure it out even the email receipt with Google translate. Aw well, so I paid $20 each for 3 good ones and use the other as a rag.

I *think* the only authentic I have is Hutch. I actually had another but gave away my Stafford on New Year's day to a 4th grader just becoming a football fan (favorite team: Rams.) He was unaware Matthew used to play for another team before he won the Super Bowl. His mom told me the other day he still wants to wear it like every other day lol.

Swift's pff grades suck.

#50 in receiving last year, not in top 50 in 2021, #31 in 2020

#21 in rushing last year, not in top 50 in 2021, not in top 50 in 2020.

Not only is he injury prone, he is not very good.I think the internet overrates him because of his name. He sounds like he should be good.
I find it comical that PFF feels qualified to assign grades to the best football players in the world when they are one of the worst sports “analytics” organizations in existence. They position their numbers like hard stats when they are rife with subjectivity, unqualified people creating them etc. and they just aren’t high quality enough or predictive enough to introduce into a serious football conversation. According to posters on this very messageboard last offseason Josh Jacobs sucks because PFF says so. I rarely post here anymore and when I do usually it’s trying to help people plug this kind of leak in their thinking.

The injury concerns with Swift are very real and beyond that clearly he has engaged in off field behaviors that alienated his coaching staff and front office, which I suspect are being a diva and not playing through nicks and smaller injuries. So I make no argument that Swift is a highly valuable fantasy asset at this stage. But the idea that he isn’t good at football is ridiculous. When on the field and healthy (seemingly almost never) he is absolutely dripping with talent and explosiveness and if you can’t see that drop everything and grind tape until you are able to recognize the obvious

@JFowlerESPN

Sources: The Lions are receiving trade calls on running back D’Andre Swift, whose representatives have been in contact with the team about potentially moving to a new team. With Detroit drafting Jahmyr Gibbs, the talented Swift appears poised to leave Detroit.

Josh Jacobs has good pff grades even when he was not putting up numbers, that is part of the reason I have acquired him in all of my dynasty leagues.

#1 in 2022, #10 in 2021, #20 in 2020, #3 in 2019

His elusivity/broken tackle numbers look even better than that.

My take: Swift is inconsistent. He will make an amazing play and then follow it up with a bone headed run where he totally misses the hole. Also, his availability is inconsistent. I still think the ghost of his first NLF game haunts him (dropped a wide open game winning TD catch).

I would hope he is mentally stronger than that.

I don't mean literally haunts him like he can't sleep at night. Just felt like it was an omen for his time with the Lions.

That was brutal. Right through his hands on the GL with seconds left.

A few weeks ago, I offered a low-ball 2.03 & 2x 2024 3rds (early).... he wanted a mid 1st (1.07). Today? What is his trade value ? Betting on the future move either as trade of FA signing in 2024
I think he's an absolutely outstanding buy low but got to move quick.

Last week I offered 2.6 and some change, Cade Otton(TE premium) and Michael Carter. I just did not want to give my 1.6 or next years #1 and nothing else I had to offer made sense. So felt it was a little lowball land it got, well Swiftly rejected with the comment that dues to his light usage they were holding on for his next stop on anticipation he had a lot more in the tank. I totally agreed.

Just offered the 2.08 for Swift in FFPC Triflex (superflex). He rejected and said he's waiting to see where Swift goes.

In FFPC 1 QB, I have Swift. Just got offered Zamir White and a '24 R3 for Swift. My only regret was that I was on my phone and it took me more than 30 seconds to reject it.

You had to know that was coming.

Wow.

RIP to Penny’s value. It was glorious for about 5 weeks there.

I’m kinda kicking myself - if I’d known ARich would be a colt I would have held Swift & drafted ARich instead of dealing for TLaw.

Great for Swift dynasty owners, congrats, way better than the worse case scenario of having to stay one more season with Lions after Gibbs was drafted.
You know some dealt him at Rock bottom after the Lions took Gibs.

I saw a couple folks mention Swift deals going down. Congrats to anyone who bought on the dip!

I guess I don't see much change. Eagles had Boston Scott and Gainwell. It was never going to be a huge role for Penny. Swift probably takes over the Boston Scott role.

Funny when these things happen. Lions are mostly like "good riddance, what a disappointment of a career" and Eagles fans are "we robbed them, can't believe how awesome this move is".

I'm just glad the Eagles didn't give up much for the guy. He'll fit nicely in the rotation, whatever that may be. Eagles are buying one-year lottery tickets on talented guys that have issues, it's their MO. Sometimes it works out and those guys have good years, sometimes it doesn't.

I wouldn’t throw dirt on Penny just yet - he brings the physical running style that none of the others in the stable do.

They certainly didn’t pay much for him (a 4th?!) but IMO swift is the best RB on that team.

That said, the Eagles haven’t shown much interest in throwing to their backs & Hurts likes to run more than he likes to check down, which also caps Swift’s receiving upside a bit.

Could be a chicken & the egg thing though - maybe they’ll throw to the RBs more because Swift.

For the 5 games he’s healthy he could be a monster.
That’s what you have to hope as a Swift owner. Then again, Penny is on a one year minimum deal, so there’s no guarantee he’ll even be on the final roster.
Yeah, and not like Swift is the picture of good health (though the knock on him is a little exaggerated if you look at his history)

I love Swift but don't agree with that. It's not good for Penny but they were always likely to manage his touches.

Swift and Penny are totally different style of RB 's but have a lot of similarities. Both really good on a per touch basis. Swift one of the best per touch players in fantasy and Penny one of the most efficient per touch RB's(in history) in the real NFL. Obviously health has been the issue.

For Philly you got to love what they did. If we are just talking talent, not factoring in health, I think they got the most talented duo in the leauge and it only cost them a 5th round pick in 2025 and about $3m in cap space.

To the Eagles.
Don’t they already have a swift?
Gainwell owners
Swift owners are and will always be doing that.
Really? I’m pretty happy today.
As always with Swift it is short lived.
I don’t mean this to be as harsh as it sounds but I don’t think you’ve ever had the proper view on Swift, so I’ll just chalk up your thoughts on the landing spot accordingly.

So what has changed for Swift except his team?

Yes sorry got it wrong, was thinking of it in terms of value vs a 2024 pick since it's another year away. Does not change my thoughts but thanks for the clarification.

Likely more opportunity. But what you don’t understand is not much really needs to change.

Completely agree with this part. Scary offense.
