I think it's more he's looking for a big role and a good amount of money which from the looks of it no one is willing to offer himIs he just doing his due diligence, or is it teams are reluctant to sign him? Or both.
IF he wanted a big role he could have taken a pay cut and stayed in Minnesota. Clearly he thinks he is worth more. If he wanted a big role Miami looks like the place and he didn't take their offer.I think it's more he's looking for a big role and a good amount of money which from the looks of it no one is willing to offer himIs he just doing his due diligence, or is it teams are reluctant to sign him? I think he is taking a calculated risk that some, potentially contending, team will have an injury that raises his single year value.IF he wanted a big role he could have taken a pay cut and stayed in Minnesota. Absolutely agree. My feeling is this value will come from a team that truly believes they are a contender and suffers an injury at the position. The huge majority of players are looking for thebest paying multi-year contract with themost guaranteed money.
The reason why I added in the multi-year part, especially at this stage of the game, is most teams don't have the luxury of guaranteeing a one-year contract. By adding a second year, the team could get into some creative cap accounting to push most of the cap charge into the future. A cap strapped contender with a season ending injury to their starter could always sign someone and tack on 4 dummy years to minimize the cap hit. In reality, it would be a one-year contract, but the majority of the cap hit would come due next year instead of this year. I am sure top backs would much rather get $30 million guaranteed than sign a one-year deal (which doesn't really sound like the market will even consider anymore). If Cook was willing to take less to play for a contender, chances are he'd still be on the Vikings.Absolutely agree. But, as you point out, a guy like Dalvin could easily price himself out of a job when guys like Hunt and Fournette are also available.

Totally get it and didn't want to dismiss it, particularly with the salary cap floor. My point, and I think it's yours as well, is he is simply looking for the most guaranteed dollars regardless of where they come from. The reason why I added in the multi-year part, especially at this stage of the game, is most teams don't have the luxury of guaranteeing a one-year contract. I am currently in 2 underdog drafts at the same time I just fired up I took Hall in the late 3rd in one and Cook in the mid 9th in the other..............Third round ADP Dara pretty much out the window with these signings

I dunno, it does suck, but I wouldn't be overly worried if I had Hall.#RIP my 16 team league roster with Hall on it I guess![]()
Woof, own Breece in all leagues. Struggling in one I just took over, whether to keep him for $33 (RBs are way overvalued in this league) might just throw all the dice back in the tumbler and give her another shake... turn this keeper team into a redraft.#RIP my 16 team league roster with Hall on it I guess![]()
Long-term, no… But short term, my only use for running backs are James Cook, and AJ, Dillon. That’s… Less than ideal.I dunno, it does suck, but I wouldn't be overly worried if I had Hall.#RIP my 16 team league roster with Hall on it I guess![]()
Yes. It surely caps Hall and Cook’s value. As a fan I kind of like the young guys but adding talent to what could be a stacked team isn’t a bad thing.Good for the Jets, bad for Hall GMs.
A one-year deal is actually perfect for the Jets. Lets them have Hall insurance.
Maybe we should start a support group… Hug it out or something.Woof, own Breece in all leagues. Jets are definitely going for it. If Aaron Rodgers can find a little spark again that’s going to be a really dangerous team.Yes. It surely caps Hall and Cook’s value. Jets are definitely going for it.
This probably means Michael Carter gets released or maybe Bam Knight. Have to think Abikanda made the team.Jets are definitely going for it.
If they really are, once Hall is healthy it should be nowhere near 50/50. It should be Hall 62, Cook 38, but we know how coaches are with veterans. I'm just saying. . .it would be that way, but it won't be. I hope that doesn't sink the Jets later in the year.
But the Jets open with the Bills, Cowboys, Patriots, Chiefs.
They need to hit the ground running or they'll be 0-4 right quick.
Up to 8.6 million. Yikes, that feels like a huge overpay for 2023 Cook, maybe 2020 Cook was worth that.
Bam Knight
Not sure if you saw or heard it but Dianna Russini was on the Pat McCafee show about 10 days and was strongly suggesting the reason the Jets and Dalvin had hit and impasse was over roles, that the Jet's view Breece as their main guy and Dalvin was struggling with that as he does not see himself as a secondary RB.If they really are, once Hall is healthy it should be nowhere near 50/50
Gonna agree….. but often a RB is not himself the 1st year after an ACL so we may not see 100% Hall this season…. But yes a 100% Hall is the lead back on this team .Jets are definitely going for it.

Both Carter and Knight lose in this. I know Knight is now ww material and Carter may be as well. This probably means Michael Carter gets released or maybe Bam Knight. Have to think Abikanda made the team.Jets are definitely going for it.

Carter is a solid all around back but declined in Year 2.
Oh, yeah ... That could get rough for this season.Long-term, no… But short term, my only use for running backs are James Cook, and AJ, Dillon. That’s… Less than ideal.I dunno, it does suck, but I wouldn't be overly worried if I had Hall.#RIP my 16 team league roster with Hall on it I guess![]()

Actually one of them is probably getting cut or traded and that actually turn into a win for one of them. I know I'd rather have the one set free then the one trapped in NY.Both Carter and Knight lose in this. I would guess money and losing NE as one of his main suitors. Not sure if you saw or heard it but Dianna Russini was on the Pat McCafee show about 10 days and was strongly suggesting the reason the Jets and Dalvin had hit and impasse was over roles, that the Jet's view Breece as their main guy and Dalvin was struggling with that as he does not see himself as a secondary RB.
I did. I wonder what changed. You might be right that it's money.

But his point, that you’d prefer that risk to being stuck behind Hall, Cook and maybe even Abikanda. Odds are the next landing spot would be better.A win for getting cut isn't a guarantee, but you know that.Actually one of them is probably getting cut or traded and that actually turn into a win for one of them. This makes more sense really. Carter can be a third down back. Knight would be more redundant.
Perhaps, but I'm thinking 2023. With that said, you can't ignore the repercussions for Hall this year. I don't think he will be himself until late 2023 or 2024.But his point, that you’d prefer that risk to being stuck behind Hall, Cook and maybe even Abikanda. I don’t really agree, but I obviously can’t claim I know any better. I think this was more to make Aaron happy since he gave back money and to add to the weapons.Perhaps, but I'm thinking 2023. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Jets signed RB Dalvin Cook to a one-year, $8.6 million contract.
Although only a one-year deal, the $8.6 million makes Cook the ninth highest paid running back considering average annual value. Cook joins a retooled Jets roster that also brought in quarterback Aaron Rodgers this offseason, giving him exactly what he was searching for in free agency - to be paid what he feels he’s worth and to join a Super Bowl contender. The Jets now lock up their stopgap and insurance policy while they wait for the return of the electric second-year back Breece Hall. Cook is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery to address a torn labrum and is also nearing the birth of his first-born child. Schefter went on to say, “So it will be a bit before he is on the field.” It sounds like his new franchise will have to wait until after their third preseason game before they get their first glimpse of Cook on the field in a Jets’ uniform.

At some point that music was gonna stop and there aren’t that many chairs left.I would guess money and losing NE as one of his main suitors.
Don't know but read he did not look good when NE brought him in, I believe overweight, sluggish was what was being used to describe his condition. At some point that music was gonna stop and there aren’t that many chairs left.I would guess money and losing NE as one of his main suitors.
Good decision.
ETA: Wonder where Lenny ends up.
Him & me both, brother.sluggish was what was being used to describe his condition.
