RB De’Von Achane, MIA (4 Viewers)

He's a stud. Top tier fantasy RB.
Top 10 for sure. There are some great ones playing right now, it's fun watching the NFL get back to its roots. Saquon, Bijan, JT, Kyren, Achane, The King, Gibbs, Jacobs, Cook, Hall and more. Not necessarily in that order.

This kid is a workhorse RB, and one of the most dangerous slot receivers in the NFL. Those who didn't watch what he did in college, or didn't pay attention to the conference he was in, are likely missing out and :crying:

Top 10 RB and I’m scared to start him.
Why? He hasn't had an real competition for touches on the team. He's getting 6 targets on avg per game (removed his one game he left early). He's scored 10TDs already this year.

Start the man. He's good.

Yes I quoted myself - been saying it all year.
Not singling anyone out here but people often get WAY too cute and overthink things to the max in fantasy. Achane is RB6 in 0.5 PPR before tonight's game. In what world are people sitting him?

Boggles my mind but some in this thread didn't want to start him. I did though and been happy with him all year!

Just need him to hold on for 1 more week. He'll almost certainly be a 1st rounder next year and I wont be buying him at that price (no matter how great he was this year) just due to his size. Great talent though, and in the perfect system to maximize his strengths.

He's a stud but I can't help but think the Dolphins are going to kill him with his usage.
I’m not worried about the straight ahead hits or amount of touches, he’s proven himself to be very durable. I’ve mentioned this before, but what I worry about is how he gets tackled due to his speed and elusiveness. There are multiple times per game where he’s getting tackled from behind and has big guys landing on his legs. Every single time I cringe, and worry he’s going to injure an ankle, knee or hip. When he gets up and stays in the game, I breathe a sigh of relief. It’s better to just watch his highlights. 😂

I’ll eat the crow, but in my defense I was choosing 2 of Achane, Mixon, Cook, and Aaron Jones every week. All guys in the same tier. Unfortunately Achane’s big week came one week too late for me.

Yeah, I’ll accept the risk here. Dude is among the best backs in the league.

Achane was Miami's #1 RB and #1 receiving options some weeks. He was the best player on an O that features Tyreek Hill.

I think Achane is one of the best fantasy players period, regardless of position.
Hill clearly isn't 100%, and the Dolphins probably have underused him when he was this year. That said, Achane is a top-3 RB in my opinion.

The Tua injury really sucked. Miami is likely a playoff team without that injury (6-5 with Tua, 1-3 without) and Achane is probably RB2 overall in PPR.

I had to choose between achane and JT to pair with Gibbs in one league. I figured JT would be running with a vengeance after the embarrassment of the previous game. I agonized over the decision but it didn’t matter who I played they both blew up

With Tua out, starting him becomes a real question. He didn’t even hit double digit points without him. May flex in Thielen or Guerendo instead.

That's probably pushing it in my eyes. The Browns are playing for draft position. Huntley was learning the playbook on the fly earlier in the year, he's been on the team 3 months now. Achane is no longer a top-5 RB without Tua, but he's still a top-15 guy in my eyes.

The players on the Cleveland defense aren’t playing for draft position. They are playing for jobs next year. The coaches aren’t calling less blitzes or advising guys not to tackle. We saw how inept the Miami offense was without Tua. Now add Waddle and Hill possibly to that as well. McDaniels has no vision or creativity.

I've got him in a league with 1.5 PPR, and even there, he barely hit double digits without Tua (11 twice). I guess if I had no other options, I'd roll with him, but I have to pivot to either R White or Thielen if Tua is out. I just think he's got the lowest floor of the three with no Tua. Bummer coming off such a great week last week.

Worth noting that the early in the season sample size without Tua, also had Achane playing through a sprained ankle.

I'd obviously prefer if Tua were playing, but I'm not really seeing a reason to sit Achane. Adjust expectations sure, but he's still a high-end RB2 in my eyes. He'll get 15-20 touches.

Someone forgot to tell the Browns players they are playing for draft position. Similar thing happened to the Giants. That is never a thing, unless they bench Garrett.

The Dolphins won 20-3, so there may not be any questions asked of McDaniels about Achane’s usage. But it would sure be interesting to understand what happened. Fantasy owners are flipping out on Twitter.

Well, the trend holds. Not even close to a #2 rb with Tua out.

I wouldn't say that...they aren't even playing him
Well, if you don’t play, you can’t be started.

For sure...but that's not a tua thing...something else is going on.
McDaniel was going against Achane for his fantasy championship.

That would at least be a plausible explanation.

I mean he didn’t score over nine points in a game with Huntley at the helm this year. Not sure what the expectations were…
I don’t think the points are the issue - a lot of guys flopped. It’s the fact that he was barely on the field in the second half to even have a chance at a decent fantasy day
Got it, that doesn’t make a lot of sense. I kept him on the bench because of previous production with Huntley, but I can see the issue with the usage.
