Michigan RB Hassan Haskins rushed for the most first downs of any running back from a power five conference in 2021.
Haskins (6'1/220) is a really interesting prospect and has some great qualities. Certainly, his size is something teams are looking for, but also has the incredible speed to get to the secondary and has the toughness to take hits. He's also an all-purpose back with great hands to catch the ball in the backfield and is good in pass protection. His stats were also phenomenal as he finished 17th in rushing yards (1,327), tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns (20), to go along with 4.9 yards per carry. According to PFF, Hassan led all running backs from the power five conferences with 103 first downs, 18 more than the next. Interestingly enough, this doesn't have the Wolverines back ranked in their top 12. Thought of as a mid-round pick, there's some possible upside and great value for whoever picks him up.

Michigan RB Hassan Haskins leads all power five backs in carries without a fumble.
So much goes into being a talented back in the NFL -- speed, agility, and toughness come to mind, but also dependability, and Haskins (6'1/220) has that. The former Michigan running back had the most rushing attempts without a fumble since 2019 with 452. Two years without a fumble is a big deal and that will certainly get a team's attention. He hasn't been talked about much during the predraft, especially as he recovers from an ankle injury, but teams are going to be looking at him as a mid-round and possibly the fifth or sixth running back taken off the board.

Titans selected Michigan RB Hassan Haskins with the No. 131 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Haskins (6'2/227) had easily his most productive college season in 2021, rushing for 1,327 yards and 20 touchdowns on 270 carries and gaining another 131 yards through the air. The performance earned him a spot on the first-team All-Big Ten team. He was unable to participate in the Senior Bowl or test in the pre-draft process after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Michigan's playoff loss to Georgia, but he did log an impressive 27 reps on the bench. That strength is a hallmark of his game. Haskins consistently drives through contact and has the balance to break tackles and keep going. He is never going to be a home run hitter, but he can grind out yards as the power complement in a backfield committee if given the opportunity. Haskins gives the Titans another mountainous running back on the depth chart behind Derrick Henry. Dontrell Hilliard is currently penciled in as the pass-catching specialist.

Maybe.not for long I'd say![]()
If Henry misses time, I’d be being on H2 to carry the load by mid season. I don’t think he’s a CoP guy with the Titans nor the 2 in most games while DH starts. Fwiw, I made sure to take him where I have DH.He's well behind Hilliard
Yeah me too. Totally.-OZ- said:If Henry misses time, I’d be being on H2 to carry the load by mid season. I don’t think he’s a CoP guy with the Titans nor the 2 in most games while DH starts. Fwiw, I made sure to take him where I have DH.
He did well in rookie mini camp and faded to fourth string once veterans showed up. His name is not mentioned or barely in articles nowAudible podcast a week back mentioned that something called Julius Chestnut was the standout RB behind Henry. Not sure that I'm putting a lot of stock in that at this point, but pushing aside Julius Chestnut would definitely be my prerequisite before getting excited about Haskins as the next man up.
Only one Chestnut worth discussing over the next several weeksAudible podcast a week back mentioned that something called Julius Chestnut was the standout RB behind Henry. Given the short turnaround before their Week 17 game, there’s a real possibility that Derrick Henry‘s injury keeps him out for this week. And with backup running back Dontrell Hilliard on the IR, that would leave just Hassan Haskins and Julius Chestnut in the backfield for the Titans. Regardless of the outcome of the Cowboys game, the Titans (7-8) would still have to defeat the Jaguars (7-8) in Week 18 to win the AFC South, making rest a more likely scenario for several key contributors.
“We’ve got some guys that have played a lot of football for us that are far less than 100 percent,” Vrabel said, via Nick Suss of the Tennessean. “It’s those guys that I appreciate that no matter what find a way to be here for this team. We’ll try to figure out who we have and who’s available and then make some decisions.”
Haskins has served as the primary kick returner for Tennessee in his rookie season. The Michigan product has 11 carries for 50 yards on the season, adding 31 receiving yards. He would be the priority over Chestnut if Henry does miss Thursday’s game.
The Titans will also be without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who suffered what’s likely a season-ending ankle injury during Week 15. Per BetMGM, the Titans are currently 10-point underdogs at home against the Cowboys. They are +200 to win the AFC South.
crazy. Can’t start Haskins over GabeI’m considering flexing Hassan over Gabe Davis in PPR. Am I crazy? Anyone else thinking of starting him tonight?
Outlook for next year? Derrick Henry handcuff or that’s not even assured at this point?
Probably a better question to ask after the NFL Draft but I’m bored on a day off and reviewing my dynasty rosters![]()
Not even assured to be that but worth holding if you have space. At least through camp.Outlook for next year? Derrick Henry handcuff or that’s not even assured at this point?

Yeah he'll be released in whatever manner saves the Titans the most money.Don't think he's long for the league. Haskins accused of aggravated assault by strangulation.
The Titans have a female owner and she must have thoughts and a plan that's just not shared. Her and her brother spoke with the NFL and with zero further comment, I'm guessing they agreed on whatever it is.I’m surprised to see him playing. Assumed he’d be released.
Harbaugh tries to give him thank you work for special teams. That's about the way it seems.
I picked him up but benched for Pollard. If breece hall is out it would be close between Haskins and Brian Thomas at the last flex.I threw a couple of darts, but won’t play him most likely.

Agreed. Haskins is not close to BTJR, not only this week, but also not ever.I don’t think that is closeI picked him up but benched for Pollard. If breece hall is out it would be close between Haskins and Brian Thomas at the last flex.I threw a couple of darts, but won’t play him most likely.
I hear that but Mac has hurt Thomas’s value big time.Agreed. Haskins is not close to BTJR, not only this week, but also not ever.I don’t think that is closeI picked him up but benched for Pollard. I think Hassan Haskins will get the start for the Chargers this week, but Kimani Vidal will see a decent amount of time, and whoever is playing better will end up with more time. A third running back may also get involved. Someone will have value, it will be messy.
Seems very much a plodder type, but at least he hasn’t failed to take advantage of his opportunity like Vidal did last year. Maybe that’s worth something.
Apropros of nothing, I can’t unthink this cartoon when I see his name.
Fair - not like Haskins has done anything either. Maybe just thinking back to the buzz last year by Harbaugh that he wanted Vidal to get more involved but got very few touches and then waived. Things can change though - we’ll see.Seems very much a plodder type, but at least he hasn’t failed to take advantage of his opportunity like Vidal did last year. Maybe that’s worth something.

Just curious, but how did Vidal fail to take advantage of his opportunity last year in a way that Haskins didn't? I was excited after Vidal's first touch receiving TD. But more than anything, frustrated that there wasn't more opportunity than what he got.
Aside from the wheel route TD in Denver, Vidal went for 18 rushes, 44 yards weeks 6 through 9, never seeing more than 27% of snaps. If it ended there, yeah, that would look like a failed opportunity in limited action, negating the receiving TD.
Inactive for three games...
Then has a 5-week stretch weeks 13 through 17. 25 rushes, 111 yards. 2 receptions for 13 receiving yards on 6 targets isn't great, but hard to judge the sample size without looking at the film. Maxed out at snap shares of 53% and 67% during this stretch. Fumbled a ball that was recovered.
I'm not saying you're wrong, because Vidal started this season on the practice squad while Haskins didn't. But Haskins went 8-30, and 12-33 and a TD to close out the final two weeks last season. If Vidal failed to take advantage of his "opportunity", I would say Haskins did as well. But I'm just box score scouting here. It seemed a lot of yucks were had by the fantasy community at Kimani's expense. My assumption was this was directly related to the sleeper hype that some of the talking heads were giving him, but maybe the actual tape was worse than what showed up in the boxscore(?)
I grabbed both in my re-draft league since I can throw one or both back after the noon time slot. I won a 4% bid on Vidal in dynasty. I think Haskins is the play if you're expecting to have to actually use one of these guys in your lineup (projecting goal line work). However, I think Vidal is the one with an outside chance to actually have a splash play that elevates him to a backup you might actually want to hold after Hampton gets back. I won't pretend that's not a long shot.

Jim Harbaugh on Chargers RB Hassan Haskins:
“Whenever you need a big run, Hassan’s just right there waiting to give it to you. Love the way he plays and runs the ball.”
